Dear doctor, i was having dry and chapped lips for the past 1 year, it is getting worse after i use vaseline. now the skin around the lips become dry, red and tense. is there any way to improve? thanks.
I have red pigmentation around my lips which looks very irritating when i shave. It kind looks like I have dry skin around that area. I used to use neutrogena acne soap excessively all over my face which i think is the reason why that part of my skin is kinda burned. is there any kind of cream i can use so that my skin can go back to normal; to the normal skin color that the rest of my face has. all your advice is very much appreciated.
The thing is, however, that these bumps have caused all the skin about a mm or two around them to turn red and textured like my lip. since then, i have noticed more and more bumps on the outside of my lip line and different parts of my upper lip line get really red from time to time. This causes the shape of my upper lip to look really weird. i get really self conscious about it and im sure it doesnt help that i end up licking my lips all the time, making them chapped.
Hi doctor, I have been getting a red rash around my lips for about 4 years now. They start occurring when Spring comes over and throughout the Summer. I notice that they flare up when I'm in the sun all day or especially every time I'm at the beach or near the beach. The area around my lips get red and my lips feel very raw. There were times where it would get infected and there pus coming out, scaled over, etc. according to the doctor.
I have been having this problem for nearly 6 months. The skin around my lips is peeling. The skin turns red and starts to crack if i scratch it when it itches.I've been to the doctor and she diagnosed that i had an allergic reaction to a certain food. But although i control my food and only eat foods that i am not allergic to,this problem still persists.I feel so embarrased because i look like i have a weird rash around my lips and everyone in school always stare at me.
Every time i wash my face it shows up really bad and red. In less then 5 minutes the skin drys out and starts to crack but doesn't turn red. So i use vaseline and it helps a bit but i still have to constanly use it or it would sometimes randomly come up red and lumpy. I've been to the doctors and they've given me many creams but it still doesn't help. I don't know what the problem is ? Hi the skin around my lips started off red alittle itchy and then progressed to a yellow orange almost like a scab. if i remove a piece the skin is wet and this wetness dries to the yellow-orange scab. which then starts to peel. I'm assuming it is healing. is this just really chapped skin or something else. when i eat it stretches the skin and bleeds slightly where the skin tears. I'm just looking for the best thing to apply to the area.
These rough patches are not normally located inside the mouth, normally they are located where the lip joins onto the normal skin of the face. The swollen lips sometimes come hand in hand with red patches and dryness of other parts of skin. The cause could be chemicals contained in toothpaste or mouthwash or any other personal care product you are using on the lips.
I have had a problem with my lips all fall (about three months). They sometimes swell, almost always sting (especially after eating), peel until the skin is so raw beads of blood sometimes appear (at its worst). Often when I wake up, the corners of my mouth will bleed, and lastly I get a red line around my mouth my daughter says looks like a "kool-aid stain." It is noticeable enough that people have asked about it.
i have had dry, red skin above and below my lips for around 10 years now. i have been to the doctors around 6 times and everytime they prescribe me with cream, it works for around a week and then doesnt anymore. my parents now refuse to take me to any more doctors or to pay to see a dermatologist because they think there is nothing that they can do to help. The skin in often flaky and dry, but sometimes is red and itchy.

A rash with some swelling has appeared around my lips. At the same time I developed a slight sore throat. The rash is not itchy but feels hot and somewhat painful. Since it is the weekend the only place to go is to the emergency room which I would like to avoid; however, the rash is getting worse. Any ideas for treatment until I can get to my doctor?
It happens very infrequently, maybe once a month at the most, but almost out of the blue at no special time of the day, a singular hive will appear around my lips. It's never quite in the same place, and lasts only for about 45 minutes, but it is always over/under one of my lips and is quite painful during the duration.
UPDATE I took my daughter to GP today who thinks my daughter has damaged capillaries around her lips due to excessive licking during eczema episode on lips thats why she has stained. He has also advised me to continue using hydrocortisone for one week.Does this mean its PIH or he means something else. He has refered my daughter to Dermatalogist.I should be able to see him in one week time. My family does have history of asthama. and my daughter also suffers from pityriass Alba in summer time.
Hello, Such red skin around nose can be due to contact dermatitis, sweat dermatitis or eczema skin. Avoid using any lotions and creams over the face for the meantime. Wash your face with a mild cleanser with moisturizing properties like Cetaphil. Pat your face dry. Then apply a good hypoallergenic moisturizer over the area and see if this improves. If the symptoms still persist then you can apply mild steroid like dermacort.
I am having this skin rashes around my lips and around my eyes. It looks white in coulour to me i had it for past 3 months. Actually i neglected it and like a month ago it went away but now it came back i dont know why it gets really really itchy and its spreading under my eyes and lips very fast.
After the 10 day period of using the medication, I noticed the chapness went away, but the bright red ring around my lips is still there. Some days it's more prominent than others and my lips tend to dry out now and then, but I'm trying to avoid putting any sort of ointment/chapstick on them in the event that something coming in contact with the lips is irritating them further. I've included a recent photo (not the best quality) that shows my bottom lip and my lip line is no longer definitive.
My lips themselves can be quite dry at times and have a large number (sheets) of fordyce looking spots on both lips. The red area of skin just around my lips is also an area where my pores get really clogged and look like small white hairs about every other day, I usually just shave over them every other day to get rid of them. When I get out of the shower, my skin on my face and around my lips feels very tight and dry, especially if I don not moisturize.
I have red burning chapped lips, my skin is pealing and no its going down onto my chin. My lips are also swollen. What is this?
Hello, The red bumps can be due to folliculitis of small hair follicles around the lips and the dry lips can be due to cheilitis. Folliculitis starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing or blockage of the follicle. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case and get cold sores also ruled out.
Secondly, it can be due to atopic dermatitis or eczema. Cheilitis(Inflammation of the skin on and around the lips)is often seen in atopic dermatitis. Diagnosed by blood test like RAST. Treatment is by topical steroids or oral therapy of corticosteroids in severe cases. Topical creams like tacrolimus ointment (Protopic) and pimecrolimus cream (Elidel) are also useful. My sincere advice would be to consult a dermatologist. I hope it helps.
