675058 tn?1226445723 I was asked if I was choosing a treatment for my MS, well no I was diagnose with MS over four years ago. The question was if there was any other treatments but interferon, my reason for asking is that I am 5' 7", 130 lbs and I really do not have enough 'flesh' to inject, so if the was other medication that can be take orally, I would really want to know.
Avatar n tn what MS shots copaxone, rebif, betaseron & avonex has the smallest percentage of blood fractions
1466984 tn?1310560608 The interferon drugs are known to cause depression, so be sure to talk to your doc about that. It can be treated. Copaxone doesn't have that side effect and that is a reason why I chose it over Rebif. As for stopping the drug because you haven't had any changes - please think about that. It is very possible that you don't have changes because the drug is doing what it is intended to do - stopping or slowing the progression.
1149087 tn?1415316549 i have posted something similar not too long ago- as my -additional- problem is recurrent major depression for more than 10 years so far.

198419 tn?1360242356 Rebif, interferon mediated reaction, anaphylacod reaction rebif, recombinant interferon beta, IFN I know case studies are the way to go for this. As some of them may, I pray, may discuss skin testing of different preparations or components of preparations. Please tell me if I've not described what I'm looking for very well. Avatar n tn You are taking rebif, which is interferon beta-1a used for relapsing MS. you could be suffering from jaw muscle spasms causing tongue and lip bites. You may be experiencing numbness in the tongue, a common symptom of multiple sclerosis per se. Review with your neurologist if your disease spectrum has changed and for these newer symptoms. He might like to add some muscle relaxant like tizanidine, baclofen or carbamazepine. You are welcome with any further clarifications. God bless.
Avatar f tn I took Avonex for three years and unfortunately I was one of those that always had side effects, so I gave up. With Rebif you are taking an even higher dose of Interferon Beta 1-A than Avonex users. I have heard that Rebif users start to notice a reduction in side effects after more time on the drug. There is that chance that could happen for you. I would talk things over with your doctor.
560501 tn?1383612740 Earlier Phase 2 studies showed that treatment with alemtuzumab reduced the accumulation of disability and the frequency of relapses in people with early relapsing-remitting MS, compared to Rebif® (interferon-beta-1a-rebif/index.aspx, interferon beta-1a, EMD Serono, Inc. and Pfizer, Inc.). (New England Journal of Medicine 2008 359;17:30-45) Rebif is a registered trademark of EMD Serono, Inc. and Pfizer, Inc. http://www.nationalmssociety.org/news/news-detail/index.aspx?
470613 tn?1207312671 Hi Sam, Well, I'm just not sure. I'll tell you, I went on Rebif not long after being dx'd and I'm off of it now for a short time (for other reasons), and I'm curious to see how I feel after I restart. For me, I could not tell the difference between MS feeling like ****, or Rebif feeling like ****. I really did not have enough time w/MS to know the difference. Now that I've had this gap in time, I feel I will know the difference too.

Avatar f tn Hello, I was diagnosed in Jan and was also given all the info on the CRAB drugs. And told to choose one. I had finally made my mind up to try Avonex. I liked the idea of only having to inject once a week. Then on Tuesday i seen a new Neuro and he said he would like to see me on something stronger. Possibly Rebif ? Now i don't see him again til May. Kind of worried i should be on something already. The sooner i start the better right ??
Avatar n tn 52 year old woman with a severe case of Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (SPMS). She is around an 8 on the Expanded Disability Status Scale and has been on multiple interferon-beta1a treatments, including Rebif and Avonex and nothing seems to be helping. What course of treatment would you recommend?
Avatar f tn When I asked my Dr about it he said that headaches and eye pain were a common symptom of interferon which both Rebif and Avonex are. I went off of Interferon completely and started looking into Tysarbi the once a month IV medication. Well... I recently read quite a bit about a brain infection that Tysarbi patients sometimes get and die from... oh yeah and Vanginitis... Mmmm Mmmmm sounds fun. Oh Yeah I forgot to say this... I am on Provigil. My anto fatigue drug.
Avatar f tn The only medication I take that lists anemia as a side effect is rebif. Has anybody on an interferon experienced this? I realize there may be no connection but wanted to know what others have had. I have always had high hemaglobins so is new for me. All other lab was normal.
