My Rebetol(ribavirin) are 200mg capsules. Not sure what you were prescribed. I take the Rebetol twice a day. I'm also on PegIntron Alfa2b, had hoped for the RediPens but they were not available, so I'm on the "mix & stick". I was told 4 weeks lead-in, then 24 weeks of triple with Victrelis. I’m unaware of any studies that correlate following this regime with SVR rates; while it might be *intuitively* correct, I’m not sure there is any supporting science behind it.

That said you need to check out your Rebetol dose. Something is strange with your dosing. Generally, 800 mg Rebetol is the lowest dose given, while 150 mcg PegIntron is the highest. May I ask how much you weigh? Are you genotype 1?
An easy way to look at if you are getting the correct weight based doses is to do these calculations:
1. Calculate your weight in kilos (your weight in lbs divided by 2.2).
2. Divide your ribavarin dose by your weight in kilos.
I'm taking Rebetol (Schering Plough). I'm UND since week 4, maybe earlier. No change of brand/manufacturer during tx. I'm in week 40.

Between copegus and rebetol which one is more effective for the treatment? Because copegus make me so weak. I prefer rebetol if they have the same effectiveness for the virus treatment.

Pivotal Study in Previously Untreated (Naive) Patients
The primary objective of this pivotal study, known as HCV SPRINT-2 (HCV Serine Protease Inhibitor Therapy-2), is to evaluate the efficacy of 28- and 48-week regimens of boceprevir (800 mg TID) in combination with PEGINTRON (1.5 mcg/kg/week) and REBETOL (600-1400 mg/day) compared to a control of PEGINTRON and REBETOL alone for 48 weeks in previously untreated (naive) adult patients with chronic HCV genotype 1.
06 that just completed a 60 week treatment of Peg-intron and Rebetol. I was undetected at 12 weeks and stayed undetected through out the treatment. Unfortunately, the virus was detected 6 weeks after I stopped the treatment.
I would really appreciate your thoughts on what you think would be the best course of action at this point.

Does anyone know if it is ok to release the medicine out of capsules and mix the medicine up in juice? I have a problem swallowing pills and was not sure if this was an option????
not sure there is much of a difference but i have heard pegasys has less side effects.

ROFL, the amount of fat in this diet will kill you faster than the HCV!
As far as I know, the rest of what's quoted in here is internet rumor; if anyone else can cite sources, please do.
I have been diagnosed with Hep C Viral GenoType 1 in 2010. I started treatment in January 2011 with Pegylated interferon alfa-2a (Pegasys) Prefilled syringe 180 mcg subcutaneously once weekly & Ribavirin (Rebetol) three 200-mg capsules twice daily (total daily dose of 1,200 mg).
After 29 weeks I never cleared the virus completely but achieved a viral count under 43.
SVR for Peg-Intron plus Rebetol combination therapy is 41% for genotype 1, and 82% for genotypes 2 through 6. Peg-Intron is a reconstituted powder that is dosed according to a person's weight.
Roche’s Pegasys plus Copegus:
SVR for Pegasys plus Copegus combination therapy is 44-51% for genotype 1, and 70-82% for genotypes 2 through 6. Pegasys is a ready-made solution that is dosed at 180µg regardless of a person's weight.
