My doctor told me one way to tell if they are real is to walk if they get worse they are real if the stop is false labor also false labor should stop if u drink a glass of water and false labor should not hurt

So ud think im a first time mommy with this question but with both of my other 2 kids i Never experienced BH and had no warning signs of labor i literally woke up n the middle of the night with real painful contractions that were 3-5 min apart and both times i was n labor. This pregnancy has been so different bcus ive had BH since about 20 wks. Im 39 wks my dr hasn't checked my cervix so i have no idea if im dilated.

A lot of people disagree on this because its different for every woman. You might have painful, irregular contractions for a few hours and the could be your start of labor or you could go to l & d and they'd send you home for false labor. Or you could wake up one morning with contractions and just KNOW as crazy and unhelpful as that sounds.

I hope yours is shorter but after 72 hours of prodromal labor...it all runs together. The active labor contractions are a lot more intense. You have to really concentrate and I had to move around a lot to tolerate them. If you are wondering if they are turning into real contractions...get in the bath tub. If they slow down or become easier then it is still the prodromal contractions, if they speed up and become more intense...it's the real deal. Believe me it works! Good luck to you!

I've read about false and true labor. I'm feeling real contractions. Can't talk through them, shaking from pain etc. The only thing that tells me they aren't trite labor contractions is that they don't develop a regular pattern.

t really experienced Braxton hicks contractions so to me I thought this was the real deal. I timed the contractions and they were 5 minutes apart each and lasted for 35min total. The pain went away now but was this normal? The hubby was ready to take me to the hospital but now that the pain is gone should I wait or still go in? Another thing, I noticed that I'm slowly loosing my mucus plug. Does that mean labor is near?

It wont matter what position you are in when you are in labor. Your contractions will be there! But, labor might be close. I remember getting BH like 4 days before i went in labor.

Not likely any serious complications but if you search any descriptions of real vs false labor any pain that feels like waves from back to front could be real so you may be in labor.

Not at all lol. Ive been in false labor since I lost my plug at 35+4 im 40+5 now lol. I am 75% and 3cm dilated and I have contractions 3min apart but since they wont move my cervix more they have left me til tomorrow a.m. to be induced. Ive been sent home 2x told I was in labor but iy didnt matter since my cervix wouldnt move more. Your body is probably just gearing up.

a call. If it is real labor, at 36 weeks, your Dr. may choose to try to stop it (NOT because anything would be wrong at all with your little one, just most Dr's prefer at least 37 weeks if possible). If you are walking then sit or lay down. If they increase then they are real, if they go away then its false labor. I've been in false labor for 2 weeks now.

More pain in your back is considered back labor but there are many other signs to confirm real labor too such as losing your mucous plug, bloody show, timing of contractions, etc.

t doing anything to your cervix then it is false labor, but could turn into real labor. Cause I had the same problem at 30 weeks and it ended up being false contractions.

I had the WORST False Labor Contractions ever last night. I thought it was the real thing because my stomach was very hard & it felt like my baby was curled up in a ball. I woke up out of my sleep in pain, had to Vomit & felt very weak. I'm a first time mom & after being in pain like I was last night i'm afraid to see how the real ones feel. I'm 39 weeks as of today. Has anyone experienced false labor contractions & gotten mad because they wasn't the real thing?

Lol I went into preterm labor at 31 weeks had a few false labors since then. Contractions are 2 to 5 minutes apart. I just feel like I don't want to go in cause they always stop eventually!!

Sounds like false labor. It's going to happen any day now. If the contractions get worse or don't stop go get checked. Good luck.
