Avatar f tn One of the DOWN sides to our Canadian healthcare system is the amount of time we have to wait to have procedures done here. I have a girlfriend who lost her leg below the knee in a motorcycle accident last year. She and her fiance were hit by a drunk driver. She's having some complications with the recovery. Currently she's trying to learn to walk on her new prosthesis and it's not going well. There's some sort of issue in the "stump".
Avatar f tn I am scheduled for an MRI but not a biopsy. According to all of the information that I have read about this, it is likely a malignancy. It is currently the size of a cherry tomato and when I am in a squatting position where the muscle is engaged, it protrudes. Why did I get scheduled for an MRI and not a biopsy if it is most likely a cancer? What else could it be if not cancer or lipoma?

Avatar f tn So I recently had an MRI done of my knee. During the exam at certain frequencies my leg would tense up or twitch uncontrollably. The tech told me after the first two scans o was moving and put a little wedge between my knee and a sandbag on my leg. This helped a little but the tensing and twitching continued. I had a copy made immediately and it isn't very clear and is pretty blurry.
Avatar f tn Back at the beginning of december i injured my knee. I had been about to kneel down when my leg gave out and i landed on my knee with it bent in a very awkward way. I had swelling and great amounts of pain and dull ache and after seeing a doctor in A&E was booked for an mri scan and put into a lockable brace which i wore for around 6 weeks as he was sure i'd suffered mcl injury. The scan showed no cartilage damage and no real mcl damage which was suspected.
Avatar n tn Especially when she moves or walks, she says her both bottoms(where she sits), sometimes hips are hurting so much. Avatar m tn It could be something small that they are missing. Ask for the best radiologist to read your MRI and CT scan and ask them to spend more than 5 minutes reading all 36 images of the MRI. I hope things work out for you. If it were me, I would find another doctor. Take care. Good luck.

Avatar m tn Yes i am almost certain that your 2nd reason could be the problem. I have had an MRI scan on my knee and my consultant advised that my knee looks completely normal. All my tendons, ligaments etc look in perfect condition. From researching online, i have read that about 80% of people who have IM nailing done complain of knee pain, which is usually due to the incision that surgeons make through the patella tendon in order to put the nail in.

Avatar n tn I have two questions can you please explain in laymen terms. 1. This is what was in the nuclear Medicene doctors finding report, "There is photopenic defect involving the metallic right toe knee arthroplasty hardware". I took this as meaning there is an issue with the hardware on my knee replacement which has cause scare tissue. What else are they trying to say?

98474 tn?1240105274 loosening of the stem of my hip replacement on the same side as my knee pain. I am wondering if this could cause the knee to degenerate faster? What happens if they remove the menicus in an older person like me? I have read somthing about arthritis being worse after that surgery. Why is it your feeling that repairing it would not work very well?
1281296 tn?1271347164 We went back over to the hospital on monday to have an x ray and they say they couldnt see any thing and to wait for an MRI scan. My concerns are that when he had his previous MRI scan it took 3 doctors to detect the ACL damage in the first place. Should the knee be this swollen after nearly two months and why would it swell again once the initial swelling had gone down. Should he be exercising or keeping still?? Using an ice pack or not??
Avatar f tn Are there any other tests that might show if there is a problem with the knee cap. Can an MRI be done with TKR, or a Ct Scan or bone scan? Thank you for any advice.
Avatar f tn I have been to an Orthopedic and have had x-rays and MRI. Nothing specific was noted in the x-ray and scan. The Dr suggested orthoscopic surgery to see what he might be able to do. I have not had the surgery. He also suggested I may have osteoarthritis. The pain will come with walking, sometimes very quickly and sometimes not much at all. When the pain comes, I have a swelling on the outside of the knee joint about the size of half a golf ball.
Avatar n tn This is pain due to nerve irritation and could be sciatica though this travels from thigh to knee, compressive neuropathy due to prolapsed intervertebral disc, nerve compression at the hip joint. It is advisable to undergo an MRI scan spine to check for any disc lesions, bony spurs, spondylolisthesis etc causing compressive radiculopathy. You might need an MRI knee or an arthroscopy of knee to look for any bony spurs etc irritating the nerves.
Avatar m tn my doctor said that the MRI didnt show anything wrong with my knee at all. the doctor thought it could be the fatty pad behind my acl wedging between my miniscus and bone, he also told me every thing looked good insided my knee.. after my surgery my simptoms are still the same. they have prescribed all kinds of anti inflamatories and pain killers non of them work at all. the pain is unbearable when i stand or walk for more than 10-15 minutes. the pain reaches a level 10.
