3210078 tn?1345661059 I am Hypothyroid i was diagnosed with this a year and a half ago and they still havnt regulated my thyroid level with Levothyroxine so i switched to these pills thet my dad bought for my at a health food store named Raw Thyroid by Natural Souces Co. Has anybody tried these?...They seem to be working for me and i only taken them for 3 days..
Avatar m tn What the feeds other glands means that your thyroid produces the TSH hormone, it breaks down the T4 into T3 and your kidneys, liver, other major glands uses traces of it... to stay healthy... it's not all about your thyroid... I am hypothyroid... they shut it down with radioactive iodine horsepill in 91... as we could not get it regulated... I was hyper prior to that... the thyroid is still there... but not functioning so they say...
Avatar f tn this all happened within 4 weeks, now feeling miserable again, very nauseous, trouble sleeping, have taken raw thyroid, iodine(kelp), selenium, multivitamins. Have been told I have Hyperthyroid, but I have Hypothyroid symptoms like weight gain, fatigue, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Have not been to an endocrinologist yet, only GP. I would prefer natural ways to help.
Avatar n tn I have heard that hypothyroid people should avoid kale, spinach, dates, pears etc from their diet.Is is true?
Avatar f tn Just started prescription for lowest dose possible of thyroid medication, but was reading about the need to avoid a high fiber diet. I thought high fiber was good. Thyroid had declined since last summer when I lost my husband to cancer and had to start preparing my own meals, basically followed the Mediterranean plan with lots of salad, raw brocolli and carrots. I've used Fiber One cereal and Citrucel for several years.
776302 tn?1241091853 t help me lose until I added the Thyroid Complex. I have a slow thyroid and have been dieting for a year and lose 5 lbs, then gain it back. Did not exercise all that time. I needed something to jumpstart my metabolism and the thyroid complex is doing it. I informed my doctor because I take levothyroxin for my thyroid and she will check my TSH more often because of the iodide and tyrosine. They seem to speed up the thyroid.
1049076 tn?1256009417 I suspect thyroid as well. If you live in the US, here's a site with recommended thyroid doctors state-by-state: http://www.thyroid-info.com/topdrs/ I do not know if TSH and FT4 levels are different in children, but I DO know that I have Hashimoto's (hypothyroid) disease and his levels are worse than mine. My TSH was only 2.74 and my FT4 dropped to 0.8. I DEMANDED the antibody tests for Hashimoto's (TGAb and Anti-TPO).
Avatar f tn I would like to know 1) what is a good ( not too costly) food for me to use for him that would support his thyroid, and keep the calories in check. I feed him twice a day, and maybe too many calorie snacks. 2) If you were increasing his thyroid level ( he does sleep more than the other two BC's I have) What would you suggest I start with? I cannot afford Potassium Bromide due to having two other dogs right now.
Avatar n tn I'm not sure what you mean by "raw" thyroid. Are you referring to dessicated thyroid med, such as Armour or NaturThroid?
3239308 tn?1346687305 Ok.I have a regular family Dr. She prescribes medicine for hypothyroid for me.I seem to be gaining weight more 2years into my medication.I am 4'10". I weigh 130.I have tried diets. shots. Raw food.Nothing is helping me.Do I need to go to a specialist or holistic natural healing? My Dr. has no answers for my low sex drive except. It normal for a 43 year old.Well, can you help me. This is my first-time on any board ever .I hope someone can help me .
Avatar m tn Sorry, I don't know the nominal T3 & T4 in Raw Thyroid, nor a web site for them. I do know that they order in bulk from New Zealand and capsule and bottle it here in the US. Although I can't find the sources again, it has been recommended as the best brand by some doctors who prefer the whole thyroid instead of the pharms...especially because of the synergenic factors included which could make it safer & more effective for Hashamoto's.
Avatar n tn I recently had a some blood work done to test for hypothyroid. When I got the results back, I saw that the test used to test my thyroid was a thyroglobulin test. I am somewhat acquainted with thyroid testing and thyroid health due to my husband's recent diagnosis of hyperthyroid. So, I am somewhat confused as to why a thyroglobulin test would be used to test for hypothyroid rather than testing of the levels of TSH and T3.
Avatar f tn Hello nurse. I have had hypothyroid symptoms for about a decade or more, with family history of thyroid problems. My TSH has been nearly borderline for years. Only this month has my TSH gone OVER the MARK into subclinical hypothyroid zone. I'm soon to see my doctor and hope for further testing, hypo diagnosis and thyroid medicine. My question is, what conditions/diseases could be causing this and what are all the tests that could narrow down the cause? Thank you.
910435 tn?1296748610 As toni said , I too use Benadryl Allergy and Gold Bond Lotion, together they resolve the issue. And as gimel stated thyroid does cause dry skin, so we all have had it at one time or another.
Avatar f tn the pituitary gland produces TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) to stimulate the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones. If the thyroid levels start getting too low, the pituitary starts producing TSH and will continue to do so until the thyroid responds. The lower thyroid hormone levels get, the higher TSH will get. Your pituitary seems to be working fine - it's your thyroid that's not responding to demands from the pituitary. The fact that your TSH is at 213.
Avatar f tn ve been reading about a lot of people having their thyroid scanned. The tests for thyroidglobulin antibodies came back at a staggering 415 and the thyroid peroxidase antibodies 883. Her t4 was 11.7. I don't want the docs to miss anything and they have ordered synthroid for her (still in insurance approval process) but I was wondering if I should ask for any other tests. Her bloodwork was covered very well and she had a lipid panel which came back kind of high.
Avatar n tn She needs to see an endocrinologist because her TSH, T3 and T4 seem to be indicating a hypothyroid state. If you have the lab reference range for the three, it would help to see them. Just looking at the raw figures I am inclined to believe that her dosage is not enough or need to be supplemented with something else. An endo can give you the full prognosis.
Avatar n tn Sometimes I think medication dosage should be based more on body weight than the result of thyroid tests. For some people(myself included) thyroid tests can be misleading.
Avatar n tn Your TSH is still raised which means hypothyroidism. In order to get pregnant, make sure that your thyroid is really well regulated. For that, pls consult your endocrinologist for decreasing the dose of eltroxin. After this the normal levels of thyroid hormones are confirmed by doing several blood tests that show your hormones to be normal. Women with hypothyroidism usually ovulate once they are well controlled. After conception also, regular thyroid hormones screening is essential.
Avatar n tn s often a good idea to pre-interview a prospective doctor over the phone (probably through a nurse). Ask which tests the doctor regularly orders for his thyroid patients. You want to hear all three: FT3, FT4 and TSH. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn i certainly hope she has a quick recovery and finds a replacement thyroid medicine that works well for her---without all the problems many of us, on this forum, have with our thyroid medication.
Avatar f tn TSH can become suppressed after taking thyroid meds for a long time and no longer be so useful for adjusting meds. I also have a TSh of < 0.01. Has been that way for a long time now (I've been on thyroid meds for 12 years). My doctor only tests FT3 and FT4 and we adjust based on them only.
