Linoleic acid is an omega-6 fatty acid commonly found in corn, safflower, sesame, soybean, sunflower, walnut
, and grape seed oils. Alpha-linolenic acid is an omega
fatty acid found in flax, canola, soybeans, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, and perilla seeds. The enzyme delta-6 desaturase converts linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid to GLA and requires magnesium, vitamin B6, and zinc as cofactors.
