Common Questions and Answers about Rash after fever in toddler

rash

Avatar f tn he had a high fever (range 102-104), was lethargic, had awful diarrhea. after about 4 days, he developed a rash. after a few more days, the rash started to change and looked quite scary. my husband and i took him to the e.r. and he was diagnosed with erythema multiforme. it is now a few days later, the rash has all but faded completely, but he is acting like a maniac. he has been unbearable for the last few days. everything and anything sends him flying into a tantrum.
Avatar f tn They are common after skin trauma and viral infections. They should go away in a few days. But if they persist then please consult a physician and get other causes ruled out which include allergic reaction, autoimmune diseases, thrombocytopenia, ITP or leukemias. I suggest you to consult a hematologist and get it evaluated. My sincere advice is to get it examined from a hematologist.
Avatar f tn My toddler has not been the same after his fever (103/104) broke. He had a rash from roseola and then was not the same boy. He started having tantrums out of nowhere, hitting, pinching, screaming out of nowhere. Nothing like how he is normally. Doctor said it was normal and his brain needs to adjust back to normal. Just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and how long it took to get resolved?? Scared Mommy!!
676912 tn?1332812551 she was sick 12 days and had a fever every one of those days. she was close to being in the hospital anyways after the fever fianlly broke she broke out in a rash from head to toe .. I'm crazy so I rushed over to the doctors he said it was fine and would go away quickly.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 22 months old. She is perfectly healthy, no fever, no cough, energetic and seems to not be affected at all by the red bumps that have been appearing on her body. She first got them in the upper thigh and lower abdomen area. Now they are on her abdomen and coming onto her chest. They are tiny pimples, they do get a little ***** head for less than a day to a full day then just go down to red only. They get better and then more appear.
280369 tn?1316702041 Sounds more like a heat rash. When you get chicken pox, they start as little red bumps, but quickly fill in with fluid and then pop, creating a scab. VERY itchy too, if you recall when you had them. You would probably know in the next day if it is chicken pox by the change in the spots. As for you, it shouldn't be a problem if you already had the chicken pox.
Avatar m tn do ars just come all of a sudden with 101 fever, rash over whole upper body and sore throat and body pain or it takes time like slight temperature that increases and rash that develops slowly to the rest of body.....
Avatar n tn It usually affects children under 10 years of age and often starts with a feeling of being unwell for a day or so. Then there is fever and typical blisters like rash on hands, foot and inside mouth. As with other viral infections, antibiotics are not needed. Rest, plenty of fluids and acetaminophen if there is any fever is needed. I feel that you should consult a pediatrician and discuss it with him. Hope it helps.
Avatar n tn My 16 month old gets a "rash" around his ankles after being outdoors. I thought it may be an allergic reaction, however, it has happened a few different times while we were visiting different locations. Reddish, raised skin appears above his sock line. Is this due to heat, and how do we prevent this? We live in GA, so it is always hot and humid!
Avatar n tn He doesn't have rashing anywhere that I can see. He did run a fever of 100.4 the other night but now he's not running a fever and still complained of knee pain. I felt around on his tummy and he didn't show any indication of pain and hasn't randomly expressed abdominal pain by grabbing his tummy or fussing about not feeling well. Actually, the odd thing to me was that even with his fever, he didn't slow down in his activities.
Avatar m tn t know which one, a flu, with a fever, wet cough, bad headache, etc.... After the fever went down finally after three days of lying in bed (no doctor for me, fought the flu myself with soup and juices, tea), here I am the next day with hives?! Itchy as heck, I also have a post-viral cough, sore throat currently. No more fever or symptoms of flu.
Avatar n tn just tell me about my symptoms please....does rash always come with fever and sore throat ...if so then how much is the fever in farenheit...
Avatar m tn I just had custody of a toddler and when his back teeth were coming in he would start rubbing his cheeks against stuff, had a loss of appetite, cranky, had a high fever and clingy then started rubbing and pulling his ears. When I took him to the dr he had a double ear infection plus a sore throat. He was put on antibiotics but it still took about a week for him to get back to being into everything. He also cut 5 teeth. Freaked me out to say the least lol.

1639005 tn?1300588524 He has been in the 5 percentile for weight since is 9 month checkup. He is irratable 1 minute and bouncing off the walls the next, does not sleep for more than a 2 hours stretch at least 3 days a week. He has very thin wispy hair has never had a hair cut because he has none to cut. His attenrion span is about 30 seconds. Since december he has been running a temp of 101-103 for 48 to 72 hours followes by a rash. Then just as quickly as the temp and rash appear they disapear.
Avatar m tn While high fever is almost certain in cases of ARS, ARS usually appears 2-4 weeks after infection. Fever will last for at least a week to two weeks. That being said, sometimes people who are infected don't show symptoms of ARS ever. Anything at this point is speculation. It's recommended, since you've already reached your six week wait, to get a blood test. Whatever it will show will probably be seen again when you test at 3 months and 6 months.
Avatar n tn My 19 month old son has come out in a big rash all over the right hand side of his tummy and chest and on the inside of his right arm. He was awake lots in the night crying and was sick earlier on today too. Does anyone have any idea as to what it could be as i am worried.
Avatar f tn Hi, The seizures occuring during fever for your child are most probably Febrile seizures because they are not observed in the absence of fever .Such seizures are known as Nonepileptic seizures and they are aggravated or caused by a disorder or condition that irritates the brain. In children fever can trigger a nonepileptic seizure. Before an age of 2 yrs.
Avatar f tn Children are much different than adults and their immune system goes wild sometimes. The only thing I know is that neutropenia is not uncommon in a toddler, especially after a viral infection, and so it's not necessarily a sign of anything really bad.
1151771 tn?1262025120 Fungal infections do not have any relationship in particular with change in diet. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. Allergic reaction can occur to strong soaps, Solvents, chemicals, certain foods, food additives, plants, metals, cosmetics, even urine and faeces of some animals (dust mites). I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn unfortunately the other day I did not know i was about to have a breakout... a couple hours prior to noticing a blister my toddler child shared a fork with me for dinner. What are the chances that my child will now have cold sores too? I have been doing some research online and the pictures of children who have cold sores is horrible! Is there any sort of preventative treatment for children to make sure they do not suffer from a painful and horrible breakout?
Avatar f tn It is a common and extremely infectious childhood disease and produces an itchy, blistery rash is sometimes accompanied by a fever or other symptoms. My sincere advice is to get it examined from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
