Avatar n tn Nothing works, have tried omeprazole, famotidine, reglan, antacids, ranitidine, and others. My lower throat feels like it cramps and I can't breathe, then the blood and oxygen rushing to deal with that makes my heart start pounding. I am wondering: is there anything I can suggest to my doctors to look at next, or another drug I can try since the only thing that gives me relief is sublingual nitroglycerin and I go through 100 of those a month ? Thanks for ANY suggestions, I am desperate.

Avatar m tn Hello, A detailed evaluation may be necessary for determining the correct cause of your symptoms. Heartburn, a bitter or sour taste at the back of the throat are common symptoms of GERD. If one experiences heartburn two or more times per week it raises the suspicion of GERD. A complete history and tests like endoscopy will confirm the diagnosis. In mild gastritis over-the-counter antacids can help in neutralizing stomach acid and can provide fast pain relief.
338416 tn?1420045702 Since Copaxone is a copolymer, histamine H1-receptor antagonist may not work well. The histamine H2-receptor antagonists, like cimetidine (Tagamet) or ranitidine (Zantac) and famotidine (Pepcid) might actually work better. I know, it sounds goofy, but the histamine response causes the acid pumps in the stomach to turn on. The histamine H2-receptor antagonists are becoming pretty common in the treatment of allergic reactions not controlled by typical antihistamines.
Avatar f tn Famotidine is Pepcid which works in the same way that Zantac works...I didn't have much luck on Zantac so now I'm on Prilosec and it works wonderfully...but famotidine is considered safer for pregnancy then prilosec...
Avatar m tn I take famotidine tabs for gerd, is it possible that I am taking too much? I have pains when I take the medicine, and less pain when I dont take the medicine.
Avatar m tn Compared to the rest of the patients, those who received famotidine (the active ingredient in Pepcid) had a greater than 2-fold decreased risk of either dying or being intubated," according to a statement by authors of the study at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. You can read about the trial here. https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/09/health/famotidine-covid-19-correlation-study/index.
Avatar m tn 1) Famotidine – I don’t know what it does but it helps. 2) Rice porridge – help a lot, actually it instantly eliminate the pain, I have herd that some call in Congi and that it is very familiar in the Chinese medicine. My questions are: 1) How those 2 things help ? 2) Is there any risk with the use of Famotidine for long time ? I would be pleased for more information from experience.
Avatar n tn Called H-2-receptor blockers, these medications include cimetidine (Tagamet HB), famotidine (Pepcid AC), nizatidine (Axid AR) or ranitidine (Zantac 25, Zantac 75, Zantac 150). H-2-receptor blockers don't act as quickly as antacids, but they provide longer relief. Stronger versions of these medications are available in prescription form. Medications that block acid production and heal the esophagus.
Avatar f tn You should also get an endoscopy done and rule out gastric issues. Take antacids, H2 blockers such as famotidine or ranitidine for your gastric acidity. Eat proper planned diet and drink sufficient water. Get all your vitals measures and go for an ecg and rule out any cardiac issues. If all parameters normal then check if you are allergic to any substance, if so identify and quarantine yourself completely from allergens. Take care!
Avatar f tn ve been paranoid ever since I learned that Ranitidine had been recalled due to a link to cancer. Is a 2 month dose of Ranitidine something to worry about?
975357 tn?1252704723 I stopped all my h1 blockers (zyrtec, benadryl etc.) but I stupidly continued to take my pepcid (famotidine) and forgot that this is also in the class of antihistamines known as h2 blockers (includes tagamet, pepcid, zantac etc.) Since the receptionist didn't specify and I didn't use by brain lol, is this going to affect my test results in any way, and is it still worth going? my appointment is at 9am its 6am now and I dont want to drive 40 miles if its going to be pointless.

Avatar n tn A few years ago my doctor put me on 75 mg Ranitidine to take twice a day before meals. A couple years ago he also put me on 20 mg Omeprazole to take once a day for 14 days, after which he said I could start taking the Ranitidine again if i still had the heartburn.
Avatar f tn For about 6 months now, I've gotten strange symptoms i'd never had before. Chest pains, arm pains, dizziness, nausea, muscle weakness (back of upper left arm/armpit area), sensitivity/tightness in left arm, etc. At first I panicked because I thought I was having a heart attack. The pains come and go. At first it was pressure in chest/heart area and chest pains and constant heartburn. It went away, then if felt like I pulled several muscles on my left side and left arm and chest pains.
520191 tn?1355635402 Over a year ago i was given ranitidine for the treatment of GERD. I took my first dose and i started to feel nausea so i went to bed, during the night i started vomiting and not like any vomit i had ever experienced before. i thought nothing of it, until my heart began to race through out the night. the next morning i thought i might be allergic to one of my medication as i was prescribed 2 medication all at once.
