Ranitidine dosage in dogs

Common Questions and Answers about Ranitidine dosage in dogs

zantac

Avatar m tn In order to treat Acid Reflux/GERD I have been taking Ranitidine/Zantac per doctors advice. I started developing various side effects several months ago. To verify the side effects were caused by the ranitidine I would stop for a few weeks and use TUMS instead. I repeated this cycle several times. The symptoms would go away each time I was off the ranitidine for a week or so.

Avatar f tn Nurse had a chart that categorized medicine risk level in pregnancy, category A having no risk at all, ranitidine falls in category B as showing no harm in animal reproduction but no human studies being available. Category C have having an adverse affect to animal reproduction but no studies on humans. I've always said if symptoms were so intolerable I would take it but, I haven't had the need to take it. So, it's up to you and what you think is best.
Avatar n tn Have a sensitive stomach and get burning pains especially if food has chilly or is strong in acid. Ranitidine has helped but from time to time suffer missing hearbeats. Having given up the drug for a while things improved but stomach started to suffer again and thus the reason to re-start the drug.
Avatar n tn com/sfx/ranitidine-side-effects.html. However, I have never seen a drug in which this was not the case. I read one report that studied 259 people taking this drug. Of those people, 3 reported missed beats. That would be a normal report from the gen populations. PVC causes can be so individual that maybe it is, but it is not a normal side effect. However, I have spoken with many, many people who get PVC's from acid reflux if that is what you are taking it for.
Avatar m tn Can this be from the medication or is she in pain? The vet thinks she may have brain tumor, and I want to make sure she is not in pain.
Avatar f tn I have heard of it being used in dogs going through Chemo but I would not use that without consulting a Vet first. Have you tried Dramamine or Ginger? What breed and size dog is this? How old? You could try a ginger capsule in something like lunch meat, cheese or pill pocket. I have had success using Ginger Snap cookies about 30 mins before leaving and take some along with me. Fostered a Greyhound here that was going to an adoptive home 2 states away and was going to be driven there.
Avatar f tn Determining a dosage of tramadol for dogs is an exercise in futility. As with people, if the dog has a history of seizures it is important to let your vet know this, and they will likely tell you about alternatives. While the dosage amounts vary from dog to dog, the tramadol dosage for dogs can be put into effect by using the dog’s weight as the determinant. The usual range is .5 - 1.8mg per pound.
Avatar f tn ve been paranoid ever since I learned that Ranitidine had been recalled due to a link to cancer. Is a 2 month dose of Ranitidine something to worry about?
Avatar n tn My pet spaniel has been put on lasix for his heart condition. My question is, is there a minimum dosage that's effective yet reduces the amount of water intake and his frequent urination. His quality of life and ours is very difficult right now as he must be taken out frequently. He is approximately 20 lbs.
1916673 tn?1420233270 They claim that this plant contains chemical compounds known as saponins, which are used in some detergents as sudsing agents. These compounds may make some dogs ill, especially in large quantities. My opinion on aloe vera products is it's fairly safe for external use (as in shampoos, creams, etc.) but I would not use it as an internal remedy for anything in dogs or cats.
20153054 tn?1491240067 Most dogs are okay with Benadryl in the right dosage but there can always be adverse reactions or dogs for whom it is unsuitable -so check first! Even if that is a phone call instead of a visit. Some info (including dosage per weight) on Benadryl for dogs: http://benadrylfordogs.
Avatar n tn As far as I'm aware, benadry is safe for quite a long time in dogs. The general doggy dosage is 1 mg/ per pound, so that's what your vet has prescribed - most people tend to go too low on the dosage. Using it for only the summer months should be no problem at all. I had a dog who needed it a good 8 months or more of every year and it never caused any trouble. Hope it works well for your Bostie!
Avatar n tn Human grade fish oil supplements are made from exactly the same ingredients (usually!) as the ones for dogs. But check ingredients to make sure there is nothing in there that shouldn't be, and can harm dogs....such as xylitol etc. Pure fish oil is okay. But keep the capsules or bottle of oil out of the light, preferably in the refrigerator to prevent rancidity/free radicals, etc. There is some information, and information about dosages here: http://csu-cvmbs.colostate.
Avatar f tn maybe something in your life needs to be changed so it is more relaxing for you? or you could add something in your day just for you to enjoy. read, bubblebath, crafts, walks, computer time, games, puzzles and so on. in anycase i hope things turn out alright for you. i went to go see the doctor before ttc so that i knew i was in good health. maybe a regular checkup with your doctor would give you the opportunity to ask questions and make sure you're body is up for. listen to your body.

Avatar n tn I initially started taking Dexilant in the morning, but was having break through symptoms in the late after noon, so my dr told me to take it in the early afternoon. I will also take some Rolaids (calcium and magnesium only) if I am experiencing break through or I know I have done something that will trigger symptoms (eating spicy, late at night...).
Avatar n tn IBD Leads to Secondary Infections, Organ Degeneration, Nutritional Deficiencies and Even Cancer Secondary infections are very common in dogs and cats with inflammatory bowel disease. This is the result of not having a balanced, healthy digestive system. Over half your pet’s immune function is located in his GI tract, so if the intestines are inflamed and compromised, the immune system is compromised right along with it.
Avatar n tn minerals, however, I have been administering 1000 iu/day of Vit E. I know Clemmons recommends 2000 iu/day in dogs w/DM but my vet is wary of this dosage. What do you think? Will it hurt him or cause any other conditions? He weighs 70lbs. I was told by a vet nutritionist that it can affect his vit K absorption and cause a coagulation problem. Also, I am wondering what you think about the 2 drugs that Clemmons recommends from WestLab: EACA & NAC? Have they worked on any dogs?
