Avatar n tn A couple years ago he also put me on 20 mg Omeprazole to take once a day for 14 days, after which he said I could start taking the Ranitidine again if i still had the heartburn.
Avatar m tn To verify the side effects were caused by the ranitidine I would stop for a few weeks and use TUMS instead. I repeated this cycle several times. The symptoms would go away each time I was off the ranitidine for a week or so. I also noticed when taking TUMS that I only need to take less than one tablet for it to be effective (say about 500 mg /day. Occasionally 750mg). One question I have is would it be better to only take Tums instead - even if I need to use ~500mg each day?
Avatar f tn Three to four years ago, my pediatric had prescribed me 300 mg Ranitidine for heart burn. A few months later, a urgent care physician had prescribed me the same medicine. In total, I've taken two bottles of Ranitidine (approx 2 months worth of tablets). I've been paranoid ever since I learned that Ranitidine had been recalled due to a link to cancer. Is a 2 month dose of Ranitidine something to worry about?
Avatar f tn I have 10 month old twin boys that were born 9 weeks early and have suffered from reflux since birth. They have been on domperidine, ranitidine and carobel ever since. We have managed to ween them from the domperidine which seemend to go ok only a little bit of sick. With advice from our paed we have recently taken them off the ranitidine but ever since they have been up all night , uncomfortable and suffering from a sever cough.
Avatar n tn If you look at the label on cough syrup for children, even those typically recommend for age 6 and up (at least the brands I have seen.) When my 2 1/2 year old has a cold with a cough I give him milk slightly warmed with honey in it. I have also given him a teaspoon of honey on it's own. It works extremely well.

Avatar f tn The main thing is for her not to get dehydrated through the diahoria and vomitting so it is very important to make sure she gets her fluids. You can get Diorelite for children in blackcurrant and orange flavour. But my kids never liked them. When she goes to the toilet have a look what comes out. Also observe if she it scratching her bottom. Children can pick up all sorts of things and what you are look for is threadworms. These are very thin thread like white worms.
2006603 tn?1331329327 My son has the milk protein allergy so he is on Similac Alimentum. We give him gas drops and he sleeps in a cradle swing so hes not laying flat on his back. I just dont know what im going to do if medicaid wont pay for his ranitidine. He's already had a pretty rough start in life, he had to have surgery on August 9th because he had pyloric stentosis (sp?), he had the milk protein allergy, he has night time colic and now i cant get his ranitidine until oct which helps him wonders.
520191 tn?1355635402 Wow...that's awful! While I never had a reaction like Freddie's....I do believe Ranitidine made me persistently nauseous for an entire year straight. I've had GERD, a hiatal hernia and stomach problems for years. After a long stint with Nexium, I decided to get on a non-PPI and something more minor. Ranitidine was the suggestion. Though I've always struggled with nausea here and there....for a year of my life I struggled with nausea constantly. Almost every single day.
Avatar f tn Some studies have linked EBV with Hashimoto's, but there's nothing conclusive. Some doctors have felt that Fibromyalgia is, basically, un or under-treated hypothyroidism, since Fibro and hypothyroidism share many symptoms and many/most of the symptoms go away if the patient is treated adequately with thyroid hormones.
Avatar n tn Children weighing 88 pounds and over should follow the recommended adult dose schedule. Children weighing under 88 pounds will have their dosage determined by their weight.
15695260 tn?1549593113 Choices for a generic over the counter antacid just got smaller as the drug maker of generic ranitidine under the brand name of Zantac has pulled distribution of the medication world wide. Last week the FDA stated they found cancer causing chemicals in some samples taken from batches of generic rantitidine or Zantac. https://www.fda.
Avatar f tn Getting terrible indigestion for most of the day, everyday and its driving me insane. I burp hugely one after the other and it makes me feel quite ill. Anyone got any tips?
2006603 tn?1331329327 I am 33w4d and yesterday my doc prescribed me 150mg tablets to take twice a day for heartburn. Anyone use ranitidine while pregnant? I just want to make sure its safe.
Avatar n tn Hi I have had severe Hives for 2 mos. This is the worse outbreak I've ever had, and my last case of Hives was 9 yrs ago. I was in the ER 2x this past month, put on IV steroids, antihistamines & Ranitidine. I had extensive blood work done for a multitude of alleries- all negative, Lupus, Lympoma, Lymes disease, CAT scan, all negative. I've done 2 rounds of Presnisone (which helped greatly), but 2 days after the last Prednisone pill- boom the hives came back bad.
Avatar m tn The next day I went back to the doctor and she said the x Ray showed I had lots of stool and prescribed Miralax and ranitidine because she thought the abdominal pain was caused by acid. I took Miralax for two weeks and it stopped the bloating I had a follow up on April 7th. Before the follow up I went on that Monday because I had blood in my stool the emergency Doctor of the clinic said it was an anal fissure and increased the miralax to three caps.
Avatar m tn Well Nexium is a Proton Pump Inhibitor and Ranitidine is a H2- receptor antagonist, which means they doe the same job but at different parts of the process. There is no huge risks, but why spend money on both drugs when the Dr could simply increase the dose of one?
Avatar m tn ve now progressed to difficulty swallowing and for the first time this morning, fairly severe heart burn that I took some gaviscon for. Can ranitidine stop working? Should I try something else? Any advice would be helpful... it's been 5 weeks of misery and it keeps me pretty anxious (I'm not necessarily miserable, just wondering when it will all end) and frustrated to the point that I'm on the verge of tears at times.
Avatar f tn The pepcid ac duel action chewables (expensive but are great!) are the best for me with 150-300mg of ranitidine a day if I'm not watching my diet. I'm convinced most people get heart burn like me because of a sensitivity or allergy to gluten. People just won't commit to not eating wheat barley and rye flour and all the foods that contain it...yes, flour tortillas, bread, beer, pizza crust, pancakes and most everything else that's bad for you.
907968 tn?1292622204 I imagine they're trained to know which medications work best for which heart problems. As for dosage, I'm not sure. If you look at a PDR the book mentions standard dosages for children, adults and geriatric folks. I know with the antibiotics I use at work we choose which antibiotic works best for which type of injury or specific bacteria. I always calculate dosage according to species (mammals have a different calculation compared to birds or reptiles) and weight.
