Ranitidine and alcohol

Common Questions and Answers about Ranitidine and alcohol

zantac

I am a regular drinker and today, i started to drink a beer and after i had taken a sip, i had a weird after taste. Tasted bad enough that i haven't had any more due to the taste. This has never happened before. Alcohol is the only thing that gives me the bad after taste. I was wondering what could be the cause as i didn't find anything on the internet.
I know that I drink far too much and that if a did not drink I would not have the problem but I consider drinking a lifestyle choice not a dietry one. I have a good general diet and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. I also take ranitidine for a hiatus hernia but there have been periods when I stopped taking this so I do not believe it is a side effect. I have also experimented with different drinks but this does not help. I also tend to eat my evening meal as late as 9.00pm.
Since u do not know the underlying issues, u should see a GI dr for PH test along with the Barium swallow to see if u do have a hiatal hernia and lastly since u had ur GB out get checked for H.Pylori too. In the meantime, alcohol will agitate the condition and u sound very sensitive to it, so avoid what will make it worse..http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/list?cid=236 I pasted the Health Pages link so u can see a list of foods and lifestyle changes u can make to help with the pain....
The pain is also accompanied by occassional burping, passing gas and stomach rumbling (anytime after or around meals as well). I went to my pharmacist today and he gave me ranitidine (Zantac). I have taken 2 x 75mg tablets and the pain has not subsided. I do not feel nauseous and my appetite has not gone, although I do feel consistently full. I am a 28 year old healthy female, I don't smoke, my alcohol intake varies from 0 units a week to 8 units a week.
now keep in mind I've never been officially diagnosed, just something my GP thought might be bothering me and prescribed me ranitidine... long story short, the ranitidine worked fine (150 mg/2x a day) and I was symptom free within 24 hours. Flash forward to 5 weeks ago, I thought I was developing a bit of a chest cold with some chest tightness. Figured the cough would come along later... funny thing, it never came.
I'm also 37 and we're having our first. I have acid reflux and usually take prilosec but my doctor changed me to ranitidine. Tums also helps. Dr. said NO Pepto Bismol. How far along is your wife?
What is the cause of chronic hiccups and chest and body pain? This discussion is related to Chest pain with deep breath and persistent hiccups.
But Prevacid and Ranitidine caused chest pain and racing heart with pvc's, For one who does not use caffeine, sugars, chocolate it was too much. What is your impression of DGL ? I and others have posted about it here ? Gaviscon is one I never tried months ago.
Discuss this with your doctor. In the meantime you could follow certain precautions. Avoid smoking and alcohol. Avoid drugs like paracetomol and sedatives. Get vaccinated for hepatitis A or B, depending on which virus you have been infected with. Try to take a good protein diet. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
For the last month I have felt ill on and off. I have nausea and my head feels weird. When I lay down I feel better. This does not happen all the time but just every now and then. I am suffering from sever acidity and cough congestion which at times remains as a lump in the throat. Pls help. Thanks This discussion is related to Chest discomfort.
Was given general anesthesia. Since then I have had hiccups non-stop along with excessive (and I mean excessive) belching. Can't sleep for more than an hour or so at a time. I do sleep better sitting in a recliner as the hiccups/belching seem to worsen (if that's possible) when I lie down. My surgeon says could be an injury from tube in throat by anesthesia during the surgery, anesthesia says they've never seen this problem before, go see your medical doctor.
I have Acid Reflux problems, and have tried both Prilosec and Ranitidine a year ago. While on these meds I started having lots of PVC's, so I stopped taking them. The PVC's eventually became less frequent, but for the past month they've returned like last year. And I'm not on the antacids. So the Prilocsec and Ranitidine seemed to help the Reflux but not the arrhythmias. I feel it is related to Reflux though...perhaps I needed to try different antacids. I'm having tests now for MVP.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. Green tea extract (Walmart, nature antihistamine, make you feel good) 4. Zyrtec and Ranitidine (prescription or overcounter, H1 and H2 receptor, these two combination is important). I went floating down a river near my house yesterday and I was swimming behind the raft (still holding on to it) for a little while and barely had any energy to pull myself back on the raft. what's going on please help!
Hi no I don,t know why I have gastritis but I did have my gallbladder out. I can,t drink alcohol and I don,t smoke. I had some muscular pain in my ribs about two and a half years ago. I took anti-inflammatory drugs and got a stomach ulcer. It was discovered shortly afterwards that I had gallstones. Then I started getting a lot of pain with the gallstones. I had the gallbladder out. It was all fine for two to three weeks so I stopped taking the PPI.
When we got home I couldn't stop throwing up violently every half hour to the point of uncontrollable dry heaving and couldn't keep any liquids down, and we were worried someone had spiked my drink, so I went to the hospital and they gave me Gravol and a throat/stomach numbing liquid, and the doctor prescribed some Ranitidine and said I wasn't drugged or anything. The ranitidine made me feel better, I didn't drink really to begin with so I cut out alcohol completely.

I am 40, female, NEVER smoked or used drugs, no alcohol usage. I moved to the state I live in 2 1/2 years ago and it's one of the allergy zones supposedly. My dr put me on a flo-vent inhaler 2 puffs 2xs a day. I have a rescue inhaler and a nebulizer for when this "bronchospasm" gets really bad. My dr is not really sure what to do with me now since my heart and lungs seem perfectly fine. She is now thinking either GERD or an anxiety issue. I do not believe I'm having an anxiety issue.
About a year and a half ago one Sunday afternoon I started burbing and it smelled and tasted like rotten eggs. About four hours after it started I began to have severe diarrhea. About the fourth bout of squirts, I had to grab the garbage can because not only was I squirting but at the same time I was also puking. Bear in mind the rotten egg burbs did not go away. So I go to bathroom grab the garbage can squirt, puke, burp, wash my hands real good, then go lay back down.
I need to feel like my absitinance from alcohol is worthwhlile and the pain has only caused me depression and frustration.
it burns and makes me shake and cry. sometimes i found its hard to breath. i would then become dizzy and i could not keep down water. i went to the doctors and they put me on Ranitidine Hcl 300mg it worked for a bit but i would still feel heart burn and then blowded for the rest of the day and dizzy off an on. so my question is what do i have and what do i do and how did i get it ?
it also sometimes feels like something cold is leaking down my left side after I drink something cold. The pain can be anything from dull and achy to sharp and stabbing and can last from minutes to hours. Recently I have noticed the pain comes up when I have gas. I have noticed that if I don't let the gas out one end it travels seconds later to the other and so on until its released. I also recently have started feeling nauseous with the stomach pains.
I always stay away from spice, alcohol, caffeine, and other diet mentions, So no need to change. Bland diet with fruits and water, exercise and meditation. Underweight now. The listed suggestions by Concerned lady are very helpful.
If you reaffirm that the body is healing, it will follow suit, I promise. • Drinking alcohol, sodas and energy drinks. It’s all passing through your colon. These drinks wash the nutrients out of your food, inhibit digestion and make you crash. Drink more water. Do tea and coffee sparingly. • Eating junk food, fast food, pre-packaged food, dead food which isn’t food, too much of any one type of food throughout the day. Excessive condiments just add more to the load.
Will the precedure stop the chances of carcinoma? I also drink alcohol (red wine and some spirits). Can alcohol accelerate Barrett's turning into adenocarcinoma?
To help control the stomach acid, one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them, or eat chocolate or spicy or greasy foods . Take some OTC antacid like Mylanta. You can also take zantac(ranitidine)or prilosec (omeprazole). These will help. Also keep your fluid electrolyte balance optimum by drinking lots of fluids. If the symptoms worsen then it may be due to H.Pylori infection. You need antibiotics in that case after prescription from a physician. I hope it helps.
refrain from heavy Foods,Red Meat, fast food and anything fried in that cheap hydrogenated oil That is what causes heart-burn in the first place and 3 other things tobacco; especially cigars, alcohol especially wine and liquor and finally lying down opens up a working stomach so wait until it digests. If youre on 120 mg methadone you guys are in no way clean and sober. I feel sorry for you for what's ahead. they won't give it you in jail so let them kill you instead of capture you.
