Random blood sugar test kit

Common Questions and Answers about Random blood sugar test kit

blood-sugar

Avatar f tn To remove doubt ask your doctor for an A1c [HA1c, HbA1c] test. Or you can purchase an OTC A1c test kit for under $30 at your local drug store or pharmacy like Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid or Walmart. This is a simple blood test requiring no fasting and can be taken any time of the day. You can Google A1c to understand how and why this test is undertaken.
Avatar f tn half year post liver transplant, my question now is about his bood sugar, we are trying to monitor it , we have the kit and test sugar before and after meal, but there was time that in just a minute sugar rises and and sometimes went very low. is this normal for or the kit have a problem?
11478709 tn?1526751275 I noticed the same symptom if I work long hours like more than 8 hours a day but with the driving it comes much quicker.. I guess it has something to do with the sugar in blood but recently I have done blood test through my GP practice and nobody told me that I had a diabetes or something like this.. I have done blood test for sugar last year with different practice as well but nobody contacted me then either. I would b delighted if somebody can explain my problem really thanks..
Avatar n tn It makes a BIG difference when you test your blood sugar [glucose]. Not knowing your country of residence, the following are testing times with US measurement units. The UK and other countries, like Canada, require conversion from mg/dl to mmol/l. ● Fasting - first thing in morning before eating or drinking anything except water.
Avatar f tn Meanwhile I need a little clarification on what you are saying. You are saying that you test the blood sugar one minute and then a minute later you test again and it drops down. How much does it drop down by? Meters are not exact within a range of as much as twenty points, so if it is less than that it might just be the meter.
Avatar n tn I have had a blood sugar test and gave a reading of 6.1 about 1 hour after a breakfast (Weetabix, Milk, Orange Juice). I have to go back and have repeat test but after having nothing to eat approx 9 hours beforehand....will this give an increased or decreased reading.
Avatar m tn HI 48 year old male, 5 feet 8 inches. 164 lbs. Recently had blood test , Blood sugar came back 128m/dl. Doctor has not recommended any medicines . He suggested to exercise and control the diet. Day before the test had a pasta lunch with cola and small pasta fried fish dinner with 2 drinks(alcoholic). dinner complete at 9.00pm. Also had a antidepressant for sleep. Went the next morning for test around 8.am. Is it possible for my test to be wrong given the previous days gluttony.
Avatar f tn 120 mg/dl is a normal random blood sugar level. Generally, below 140 mg/ dl is considered to be normal for random blood sugar.
Avatar f tn However, if you can get a blood sugar test kit (and strips) you could test fasting blood sugar (as soon as you wake up and before eating), and 2 hours after meals. If these numbers are high, then you would need to see a doctor. Keep an eye out, there may be free blood sugar testing offered by some pharmacies / in malls from time to time. Why do you think you have diabetes? WHat are your symptoms?
Avatar f tn It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.
Avatar n tn Hi, yes eating before testing would increase the glucose levels in the body. Only carbohydrates (including grain products, fruits, juice, milk, yogurts, potatoes, corns--starchy foods) will raise the blood sugar level in the body. However, if you didn't fast (have not eaten for 8 hours or more), you must had a random glucose test done. they do have guidelines to tell what number is high. if your glucose level came up to be a bit above normal then you might be considered prediabetic.
Avatar m tn unfortunately testing for diabetes by A1c and fasting or random test (random test gives random results) is not very good. sort of like checking a boat for leaks in dry dock. you need GTT test Glucose tolerance test to see how you react to sugar.
Avatar m tn l last had a full blood test three years ago and was normal , A few month ago my doctor gave me a finger prick test and he said it was normal , does that prove l dont have diabetes or do l need to take a full blood test where they take blood with a needle in your arm, l hate that. Also l bought a Dus 10 urine strp home test kit .
Avatar f tn I am a type II diabetic and I would like to know what is considered a "good" blood sugar reading for me when I test at different times of the day....before meals, after meals, fasting in the morning, at bedtime and other random times during the day.

Avatar f tn She did a random blood sugar test and the result was 78.. I know this is normal but i am worried it is not accurate because i got tested at around 6pm and the last time i ate was around 6:30 am, i just ate 2 loaves of wheat bread. Is it the reason why my reading was normal and therefore not a good sign if i really am diabetic or not?
Avatar m tn 4 weeks ago my sugar reading was 200 +, then after another test 2 weeks ago it was down to 168. I have just returned from another test which shows my sugar as 120, also my cholesterol is down to 180 now, I am afraid to start taking the diabetic prescription tablets when I have reduced so much without any medication at all.
306245 tn?1244384967 This is a longer test that measures your blood sugar levels before during and after consuming specific levels of Glucose over a specific period of time. I have not heard of any false positive readings on either test but I do not know that for sure.
Avatar f tn Did any of you ladies get realy low blood sugar to the point you passed out? Im 10+2 weeks and terrified its hurting my little bean ... :( ...
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 25 year old male, had a qyestion regarding a lab test result which I got earlier this year (doctor nor I thought anything of it, questioning it now as people have mentioned this to me recently). To sum up, I had a physical done which included a random blood sugar test (to be honest, think I either took the test in the morning/didnt eat yet or had MAYBE a small snack at the most). Regardless, my random blood sugar a little while back was a 79...well within the normal test limit.
1348086 tn?1370783185 What test does your doctor use? If it is a random blood sugar it is virtually useless. Fasting blood sugar is better but still wouldn't catch it if you were spiking after food. The best is to get an A1C which is an average of 3 months worth of blood sugars. You can also get these at a pharmacy and do them at home.
Avatar n tn My brother says he recently weaned himself off hydrocodone but my mther and I have our doubts. He has agreed to random drug tests. Can anyone recommend a home drug test kit that will detect hydrocodone? If the test says it tests for opiates does that include hydrocodone? Thank you for your help and insight!
