Avatar f tn It is inadvisable to increase medications than what is prescribed by the doctor. First, discuss with his doctor if he should continue with Ramipril. If yes, inform the doctor what you told us here that the chemist [pharmacist] has only the larger dose available. Usually the doctor can ask/call the chemist to order the proper dosage.
Avatar f tn Half life of Ramipril is usually 3- 16 hrs. It is important that regular BP monitoring is done and to continue the medication as prescribed. Regular follow up with your attending physician is highly recommended. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Here's some input 6 years after the OP from someone that is not a doctor. Most people are happy with weight loss (under appropriate circumstances). Weight gain though...not so much. Most people will label that (weight gain) a problem and search for a solution. If Ramipril is the most significant change in their lifestyle, that may stand out as the culprit. I went on Ramipril 1 month ago. Personally I have never, and I mean never in my life, experienced unwanted increases in weight.
1020296 tn?1251475359 that is quite a high dosage of beta blocker and is likely to give the low pulse. Is the cardiologist aware of this pulse? The blood pressure medication is quite low and could be increased. Ask the Cardiologist if the beta blocker should be reduced and the Ramipril increased.
Avatar f tn I have kidney failure (Gfr generally between 40 and 50 but recently closer to 40), and also crohns which has been in remission for years but has recently been shown to be very active. My problem is for about 12 months now I have been prescribed ramipril for my kidneys and high blood pressure, but in the last few months and weeks (it seems to me since crohns has become active) it is making me feel absolutely terrible.

Avatar f tn t hurt when I urinate or have a bowel movement although certain body movements cause it to occur. My question is can this be caused by ramipril along with my lasix and potassium with a delayed reaction or buildup?
Avatar m tn It is just one day after my mom skipped Ramipril, and still continue to have the cough. The doctor was saying the cough will not stop immediately after stopping the Ramipril, will take at least a week to reduce. Is it correct?
Avatar n tn Since my high blood pressure just reach 150, I would like to know how I can effectively treat or control the hypertension, medicine, exercise or what else? My weight is 183lb and I never smoke. I have no other disease. Thank you for your answer.
Avatar f tn It seems the Ace inhibitor is prescribed to try and improve the EF. It is prescribed for high BP, but also for heart failure sometimes. It may be worthwhile having further testing and a follow up Echo in 3 months would be a good idea. Symptoms of low EF vary from person to person. Generally it seems symptoms only present with an EF of 30% or less. Although people with less than 30% can get on normally too!.
Avatar m tn Taking Ramipril In morning for several years. Recently started taking Laxido & banana (for breakfast). About the same time started coughing frequently but intermittently & became slightly breathless when walking. 2 days ago doctor called Emergency as I had persistent chest pain & burping. No heart attack but abnormal ecg, which however improved after being in A&E for several hours. Wondering if Ramipril + laxido + banana too much potassium?
544430 tn?1283712658 i have an occasional cough...the DR says it is caused by Ramipril but cant change my med because im been treated for Excema which i've had now for 18 mths..
Avatar m tn Yes, if you are recently experiencing any new symptoms due to taking a new medicine, it is the new medicine.
Avatar n tn Is it possible for ace inhibitors to raise your blood pressure? I just started to take ramipril at night and now my bood pressure is elevated in the morning. I used to take it in the morning and my bp was higher in the evening.
907968 tn?1292622204 I imagine they're trained to know which medications work best for which heart problems. As for dosage, I'm not sure. If you look at a PDR the book mentions standard dosages for children, adults and geriatric folks. I know with the antibiotics I use at work we choose which antibiotic works best for which type of injury or specific bacteria. I always calculate dosage according to species (mammals have a different calculation compared to birds or reptiles) and weight.
Avatar m tn One other thought, sometimes statins can have side effects I see she is taking Crestor and Ramipril check out thats not the cause .
976897 tn?1379167602 My Ramipril is hardly working now, it looks as though I'm becoming immune to its effects. My current BP is around 145/105 and sometimes higher. Is there a natural substance which helps with BP that anyone knows of? Or, do I need to ask the Doctor to change me to another med?

Avatar n tn It is pretty soon for restenosis and likely the mechanism is thrombus in the drug eluting stent. The tirofiban can help eliminate the clot. I think your dad should be on triple antiplatelet therapy with aspirin, plavix and clilostazol.
