15695260 tn?1549593113 Common medications in this class of drugs are commonly used medications such as captopril (Capoten), fosinopril (Monopril), lisinopril (Prinivil or Zestril), perindopril (Aceon), ramipril (Altace) and trandolapril (Mavik). It should be noted that this research was not done as a clinical trial but rather an 'observational study' where older adults with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia were being studied. About a quarter were on ACE inhibitors and they observed this benefit.
Avatar f tn I am a 49 year old female. I am taking perindopril 4mg once a day for hypertension. Except for hereditary HT, I am healthy and active, a non-smoker and not overweight. I developed blurry vision in my left eye about 4 months after I started taking perindopril. The vision in my left eye is now permanently blurry. The optometrist referred me to an opthalmologist (the first appointment I could get is in 14 months). The optometrist suspects corneal problems.
Avatar n tn I have Amlopidine 5mg and Perindopril 8mg for hypertension. The doc said if not working then double up on one of them. He told me which one. But I can't remember which one that was and that was months ago. Big hassle getting through to him in that clinic. Easier (and helpful to others) if I can get an answer right here. Which one would it have been - the amlopidine (calcium channel blocker) or the perindopril (ace inhibitor) ?
Avatar m tn My POTASSIUM level is 5.2 due to using Perindopril Arginine 5mg > which is unacceptably high. I need to eat greens, lentils and vegetables in order to stay healthy yet ACE inhibitor is causing me high potassium which is in these health foods. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Any suggestions?

Avatar f tn I am confused by the drug RAMIPRIL. The leaflet in box and details in British Formulary list WEIGHT LOSS as a side effect (I have lost 6 kilos). On the Internet there are many letters regarding weight gain but nothing about weeight loss. Why is this?
Avatar f tn I was put on Ramipril 5mg as my BP was high. Wondering how long it takes to work. My pulse is low a 59 but my BP is still high. Is this normal? Im worried if they put the dose up my pulse will go even lower.
Avatar f tn My mother currently taking nebivolol 5mg in morning and amlodipine/perindopril 5/8mg in evening for hypertension. Her blood pressure has recently been improved and taking both pills cause low blood pressure, she is also suffering from cough as a side effect from perindopril. I am considering to shift her to nebivolol only but 5 mg once a day is not controlling the blood pressure well. My question is can nebivolol be taken twice a day in 2.
544430 tn?1283712658 I am not familiar with Ramipril, so, unfortunately, can't speak to that. I've read posts here where people take a specific type of levothyroxine and have side effects from the dyes in the pill, so that's a possibility. However, I think further work up is probably warranted.
Avatar n tn With all due respect to that doc, any layperson with ten minutes of free time, a net connection, or a phone line could easily find out perindopril DOES indeed cause many variations of vision impairments, and they are very common. This is indictitive of the general attitude and shows this person didn't even take a moment to qualify their response which they should understand will affect the poser of the question and their health and trust in the medical system.
1020296 tn?1251475359 doctor prescribed some medicines which includes baclofen, ramipril, clopidogrel, amolodipine , atenolol, atorvastatin and escitolopram. after taking medicines her pulse rate has gone to 45-50 range and blood pressure is still 160/120. I'd like to ask why pulse rate is going low..is it due to side effect of medicines..
Avatar f tn I have kidney failure (Gfr generally between 40 and 50 but recently closer to 40), and also crohns which has been in remission for years but has recently been shown to be very active. My problem is for about 12 months now I have been prescribed ramipril for my kidneys and high blood pressure, but in the last few months and weeks (it seems to me since crohns has become active) it is making me feel absolutely terrible.
Avatar f tn My cardiologist put me on ramipril a few wks back and after 10 days ran blood tests whic came back normal. this morning I woke up with diarriah and some serious kidney pain on the right side.It doesn't hurt when I urinate or have a bowel movement although certain body movements cause it to occur. My question is can this be caused by ramipril along with my lasix and potassium with a delayed reaction or buildup?
Avatar m tn Taking Ramipril In morning for several years. Recently started taking Laxido & banana (for breakfast). About the same time started coughing frequently but intermittently & became slightly breathless when walking. 2 days ago doctor called Emergency as I had persistent chest pain & burping. No heart attack but abnormal ecg, which however improved after being in A&E for several hours. Wondering if Ramipril + laxido + banana too much potassium?
Avatar f tn more and more i see ramipril 2.5 ordered to help kidney function...could you elaborate for my own knowledge please...
Avatar m tn Thank you jrbon. Yes, we are completely aware the part/size of damage of the heart muscle will have the impact on the LVEF. You have mentioned the biggest part of recovery takes place between 6-3 months. After the HA she had, last week was the first time we took the echo, which is precisely 3 months and 2 weeks after the HA, with an increase of 2%. Is it too early to predict by looking at this measure? I heard the ejection rate anything greater than or equal to 50% is good.
544430 tn?1283712658 i am taken 5mg of ramipril and 50micrograms thyroxine,daily..... i have an occasional cough...the DR says it is caused by Ramipril but cant change my med because im been treated for Excema which i've had now for 18 mths..
Avatar n tn I just started to take ramipril at night and now my bood pressure is elevated in the morning. I used to take it in the morning and my bp was higher in the evening.
Avatar m tn I also tale predisilon ,Azithiopring,Ramipril,Aspring. But my Doctor says i have to take this drugs for ever. Now they stopped predisilon . can't be HSP cure?
Avatar f tn That's what we're wondering. The doctors said the ramipril is not just for blood pressure but is also for his weak heart to see if it improves the EF. They've sent him for additional tests and even recommended a higher dose of ramipril despite the fact that his oxygen level was 114 when he did the bicycle test. The doctor kept talking about him being in a state of heart failure which is very unsettling.
627646 tn?1325170607 What is most important is that your doctors clearly determine the cause of your angina--ie coronary disease vs esophageal spasm because the overall treatment approach will differ. Hope this helps. Best, Dr.
Avatar f tn I had to stop taking ramipril 1.25mg after a week due to various side effects. thurs I had severe shaking or chills etc. so stopped it on advice but 4 days later feeling bit better but I keep feeling funny. its like my head feels funny and the feeling like your lightheaded - going to faint or collapse but not quite and doesn't go away.
Avatar m tn Still no proper cure. She takes insulin, Cresto and pressure medication Ramipril. She does annual checkup with Cardiologist too. Please advice.
976897 tn?1379167602 My Ramipril is hardly working now, it looks as though I'm becoming immune to its effects. My current BP is around 145/105 and sometimes higher. Is there a natural substance which helps with BP that anyone knows of? Or, do I need to ask the Doctor to change me to another med?
Avatar n tn I have been telling people on these boards for a long time to investigate angiotensin receptor-blocker (ARB) (any ARB except losartan is preferable) or ACE-inhibitor (ACE-i) (perindopril is the only one I know of that really works) therapy with a cardiologist at a major medical center/university who is UP TO DATE on the latest research.
