Avatar f tn I am confused by the drug RAMIPRIL. The leaflet in box and details in British Formulary list WEIGHT LOSS as a side effect (I have lost 6 kilos). On the Internet there are many letters regarding weight gain but nothing about weeight loss. Why is this?
Avatar f tn Ramipril is very capable of causing serious side effects including raising bp. It raised mine by over 80 points. The side effects of this drug can happen immediately or after a long period. Also I would question it's use in kidney disorders of any kind as it can damage kidneys and cause stenosis. Check out as much as you can about safer alternatives. As is common these days many GPs are unaware of the potential for damage that these drugs have.

335873 tn?1264913469 I have metabolic syndrome and most of the aspects of it are under reasonable control with meds except my BP. The Toprol that I'm on keeps my heart rate low, generally in the 60s even when my BP spikes. I monitor it throughout the day with cuffs that are properly calibrated. I find that when my BP spikes my Diastolic can hover around 100 while my Systolic can be in the 130s-140s. My doc would like to have me on Ramapril but I'm on Allopurinol for Gout which could have a bad interaction.
Avatar n tn , alcoholics, the elderly), the drug can cause hepatitis. Rash, anemia, and thrombocytopenia are less common side effects. The most important toxicities are hepatotoxicity and peripheral neuropathy. You should consult your doctor and adjust the doses if you get any of the side effects.
Avatar f tn Hello, If you Google for ' ramipril side effects ' or simvastatin side effects ' you will get more details. Ramipril has been indicated to cause sexual problems, but both these drugs can affect liver function and in turn affect sexual performance.Further more, statin drugs can cause muscle weakness and may lead to a drop in overall energy level.
Avatar f tn Never replace your established, prescribed gout treatments with a home remedy without first informing your doctor, as herbal supplements may result in unintended interactions and side effects.

Avatar n tn You can google the warnings and side effects of that one. I also take Tricor for my hyperlipidemia. But that is a fenofibrate, not a statin. Have you ever tried the grandfather of statins, Lipitor? Talk to your doctor and get the straight answers.
1020296 tn?1251475359 doctor prescribed some medicines which includes baclofen, ramipril, clopidogrel, amolodipine , atenolol, atorvastatin and escitolopram. after taking medicines her pulse rate has gone to 45-50 range and blood pressure is still 160/120. Avatar f tn I'm glad your BP is coming down. You were dangerously high and, actually, I hate to say it but you still are considered hypertensive. they will want to continue to lower your bp. I started bp meds the beginning of December. I noticed I felt very strange on the meds including dizziness and chest pain. For me, they were side effects of the medication. With your BP still being high, I'd check with the doctor. What medication did they start you on?
Avatar n tn I just started to take ramipril at night and now my bood pressure is elevated in the morning. I used to take it in the morning and my bp was higher in the evening.
Avatar n tn After a long period of trying different combinations of medications I am now on 10mg of Ramipril twice daily which has not caused me any bad side effects, not even limp **** syndrome, and it keeps my BP at 120/80 like clockwork. Not all medications work the same for everybody but this is my saving grace. I understand Ramipril has a beneficial side effect of strengthening the interior walls of veins and arteries as well.
