Avatar f tn Hello, If you Google for ' ramipril side effects ' or simvastatin side effects ' you will get more details. Ramipril has been indicated to cause sexual problems, but both these drugs can affect liver function and in turn affect sexual performance.Further more, statin drugs can cause muscle weakness and may lead to a drop in overall energy level.
1020296 tn?1251475359 what dosage is the beta blocker? It looks as though there could be an imbalance of the medication maybe. What is the dosage of the blood pressure medication (ramipril)?
Avatar f tn I was put on Ramipril 5mg as my BP was high. Wondering how long it takes to work. My pulse is low a 59 but my BP is still high. Is this normal? Im worried if they put the dose up my pulse will go even lower.
Avatar f tn more and more i see ramipril 2.5 ordered to help kidney function...could you elaborate for my own knowledge please...
Avatar f tn You are wise to take your blood pressure medication. Did your Doctor tell you to take a break for so long? I assume not because any competent Doctor would have noticed the increase well before now and put you back onto medication. Your systolic pressure is high-normal now and your diastolic is normal-optimal. This is much much better.
Avatar n tn I had a similar problem on Ramipril and was on 5mg a day. The Doctor re-prescribed the medication as 2.5mg to be taken twice daily. That did the trick for me.
Avatar m tn Thank you jrbon. Yes, we are completely aware the part/size of damage of the heart muscle will have the impact on the LVEF. You have mentioned the biggest part of recovery takes place between 6-3 months. After the HA she had, last week was the first time we took the echo, which is precisely 3 months and 2 weeks after the HA, with an increase of 2%. Is it too early to predict by looking at this measure? I heard the ejection rate anything greater than or equal to 50% is good.
15695260 tn?1549593113 Common medications in this class of drugs are commonly used medications such as captopril (Capoten), fosinopril (Monopril), lisinopril (Prinivil or Zestril), perindopril (Aceon), ramipril (Altace) and trandolapril (Mavik). It should be noted that this research was not done as a clinical trial but rather an 'observational study' where older adults with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia were being studied. About a quarter were on ACE inhibitors and they observed this benefit.
Avatar m tn Still no proper cure. She takes insulin, Cresto and pressure medication Ramipril. She does annual checkup with Cardiologist too. Please advice.

Avatar f tn I am confused by the drug RAMIPRIL. The leaflet in box and details in British Formulary list WEIGHT LOSS as a side effect (I have lost 6 kilos). On the Internet there are many letters regarding weight gain but nothing about weeight loss. Why is this?
Avatar n tn Mine has been leveled out at 120/80 after suffering with elevations approximating 160/100 for almost a year after it peaked at 210/120 when I took a bad side effect reaction to a new medication I was trying. I will not mention the name of this medication because it does not effect all people the way it did me - I was the unlucky exception it seems.
Avatar f tn That's what we're wondering. The doctors said the ramipril is not just for blood pressure but is also for his weak heart to see if it improves the EF. They've sent him for additional tests and even recommended a higher dose of ramipril despite the fact that his oxygen level was 114 when he did the bicycle test. The doctor kept talking about him being in a state of heart failure which is very unsettling.
Avatar f tn 4, the nexrt test was 5 he was okay about it, four weeks ago was put back on high blood pressure tablets but prior to starting them they carried out another Kidney blood test and four weeks later l was told bp down to 134/84 on 5mg ramipril but the blood test four weeks ago was high again and has to be repeated.
Avatar m tn Also, there could be side effects from the medication so if there were added medication or an increase of medication that could be the problem. Also, there could be a respiratory problem that should be ruled out. Years ago I had a dry cough due to heart failure, but it usually happened at night while in an inclined position. There were other symptoms that included faster than normal heart rate and shortness of breath.
544430 tn?1283712658 I am not familiar with Ramipril, so, unfortunately, can't speak to that. I've read posts here where people take a specific type of levothyroxine and have side effects from the dyes in the pill, so that's a possibility. However, I think further work up is probably warranted.
976897 tn?1379167602 My Ramipril is hardly working now, it looks as though I'm becoming immune to its effects. My current BP is around 145/105 and sometimes higher. Is there a natural substance which helps with BP that anyone knows of? Or, do I need to ask the Doctor to change me to another med?
Avatar f tn My doctor has just changed my medication from Amlodipine to Ramipril 4 weeks ago. My dose has increased from 2.5 to 5.0 My blood pressure is lower in the morning and evening generally but recently has been erratic. I have headaches, feel nauseous, tired and have chest discomfort. Is this normal. Please help.
Avatar f tn asprin, bisoprolol, ramipril, simvastatin, ticagrelor and lansoprazole So the aspirin and Ticagrelor are hand in hand, anti coagulants to help stop further clotting. Anti coagulants can cause ulcers in the stomach, so they've given you lansoprazole, to reduce acid levels. I switched to gastric resistant aspirin and stopped my anti-acid meds. Mainly because I was getting a few stomach aches. Ramipril is an ace inhibitor which is a very good med actually.
Avatar n tn My guess is because you had a heart attack in the first place. There must be some risk factors you have that lead to a heart attack, high BP or high cholesterol. Perhaps there was no damage but your heart was weakened and you now have a reduced EF%. In any case, as Ed says it would be helpful to know what you're taking to answer intelligently.
Avatar f tn Medication can be totally unpredictable. For example, from 2007 to 2010 I was on blood pressure medication Ramipril with absolutely no problems. In May 2011 I was asked to go back on them because my BP was borderline, but for reasons unknown, they gave me lots of chest pains. At first nobody knew what it was, but after three days I stopped the Ramipril and the pains stopped. So even the same medication we have taken at some point in the past can have different results.
Avatar f tn I have kidney failure (Gfr generally between 40 and 50 but recently closer to 40), and also crohns which has been in remission for years but has recently been shown to be very active. My problem is for about 12 months now I have been prescribed ramipril for my kidneys and high blood pressure, but in the last few months and weeks (it seems to me since crohns has become active) it is making me feel absolutely terrible.
Avatar f tn My cardiologist put me on ramipril a few wks back and after 10 days ran blood tests whic came back normal. this morning I woke up with diarriah and some serious kidney pain on the right side.It doesn't hurt when I urinate or have a bowel movement although certain body movements cause it to occur. My question is can this be caused by ramipril along with my lasix and potassium with a delayed reaction or buildup?
Avatar m tn Taking Ramipril In morning for several years. Recently started taking Laxido & banana (for breakfast). About the same time started coughing frequently but intermittently & became slightly breathless when walking. 2 days ago doctor called Emergency as I had persistent chest pain & burping. No heart attack but abnormal ecg, which however improved after being in A&E for several hours. Wondering if Ramipril + laxido + banana too much potassium?
