Avatar f tn more and more i see ramipril 2.5 ordered to help kidney function...could you elaborate for my own knowledge please...
Avatar m tn Best thing you can do to help your kidney function is to get your blood sugars down to normal (ie. 80-120 range, or as close to this as you can safely manage). I don't know of any OTC meds to helps. Maybe a good moisturizer will help a little. You can also ask the pharmacist to recommend. You can also ask the pharmacist about alternative meds to ramopril if this is what you are reacting to.
Avatar f tn Hi there. I have kidney failure (Gfr generally between 40 and 50 but recently closer to 40), and also crohns which has been in remission for years but has recently been shown to be very active. My problem is for about 12 months now I have been prescribed ramipril for my kidneys and high blood pressure, but in the last few months and weeks (it seems to me since crohns has become active) it is making me feel absolutely terrible.
Avatar f tn Hello, If you Google for ' ramipril side effects ' or simvastatin side effects ' you will get more details. Ramipril has been indicated to cause sexual problems, but both these drugs can affect liver function and in turn affect sexual performance.Further more, statin drugs can cause muscle weakness and may lead to a drop in overall energy level.
335873 tn?1264913469 I would be very aggressive with your blood pressure control. You should probably try the ramipril or an alternative ace inhibitor and have your kidney function monitored to look for problems. You could also consider being on an ARB or a diuteric.
Avatar f tn My cardiologist put me on ramipril a few wks back and after 10 days ran blood tests whic came back normal. this morning I woke up with diarriah and some serious kidney pain on the right side.It doesn't hurt when I urinate or have a bowel movement although certain body movements cause it to occur. My question is can this be caused by ramipril along with my lasix and potassium with a delayed reaction or buildup?
Avatar m tn Now when you meet your doctor the following tests may need to be done. Assess the kidney function, this is done by a blood urea and creatinine and sometimes a GFR (glomerular filteration rate). Assess the kidney structure, with an ultrasonogram, an IVP (intravenous pyelogram), here a dye is injected to study the kidneys. Sometimes a CT or MRI may throw more results. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Was the ramipril reduction ordered by your doctor?? Ramipril it is important to avoid cardiac remodeling. Low BP and dizziness can be due to hot weather. The other effects can be due to worsening of your HF.
Avatar m tn Is it possible that my husband could have had kidney or liver cancer for at least three years and have no symptoms and not become ill by now or even have impaired liver or kidney function. My husband smoked years ago (a pipe) but hasn't smoked since he developed asthma at age 39. We don't live at high altitudes and he doesn't use steroids or take diuretics. He is about 25 pounds overweight, but just started attending weight watchers and taking that off now.
Avatar f tn 4, the nexrt test was 5 he was okay about it, four weeks ago was put back on high blood pressure tablets but prior to starting them they carried out another Kidney blood test and four weeks later l was told bp down to 134/84 on 5mg ramipril but the blood test four weeks ago was high again and has to be repeated.
Avatar m tn I suspect it was out-of-control hypertension which caused her kidney function to deteriorate. I measured her BP at 200/110 several occasions over the weekend. She says she was stressed out on weekends. But her resting BP on weekdays was still around 160/100. I don't know what her internist has been doing but they apparently thought her hypertension was under control. She stopped taking Hydrochlorothiazide 25mg, something she was on, a while ago.
Avatar n tn my bun is 63 and my creatine is 8.02 and im 60 yrs. old.
Avatar n tn My thyroid levels are fine also. My liver, kidney function are okay. my gallbladder was taken out 9 years ago because of numerous gallstones. My stomach is burning at the moment as is my throat, chest shoulder leftside. That is why i think it is cancer which i am terrified to find out.
Avatar m tn There are many, many trials of hundreds of thousands of patients over decades of research that show that both beta blockers and ACE inhibitors (like ramipril) improve left ventricular function and decrease mortality in patients exactly like yourself.
Avatar n tn You can progress very rapidly to NO kidney function and be on dialysis and having to wait for a kidney transplant. And we all know how that one goes--there is a shortage of transplantable kidneys and they go to the people who have been on the list the longest. So get to a kidney doctor now!
Avatar f tn 5mg everyday, for to treat the diabetic nephropathy, i can get ramipril in my town but its 5mg ramipril capsule in the chemists, and his medications are over, so should i let him take the 5mg ramipril? my big concern is would the dose cause hypoglycaemia or any other effects as the dosage will be double the dose hid doctor prescribed? please help me on that, i will be grateful...thank you.
Avatar f tn I am confused by the drug RAMIPRIL. The leaflet in box and details in British Formulary list WEIGHT LOSS as a side effect (I have lost 6 kilos). On the Internet there are many letters regarding weight gain but nothing about weeight loss. Why is this?
Avatar f tn m asking because it may be wise to have a few blood tests to check your kidney function. The kidneys play quite a big role in controlling your blood pressure.
Avatar f tn I was put on Ramipril 5mg as my BP was high. Wondering how long it takes to work. My pulse is low a 59 but my BP is still high. Is this normal? Im worried if they put the dose up my pulse will go even lower.
Avatar f tn When Dad is in heart failure he needs additional dosages of diaretics. Too much diaretic can effect kidney function and too little will effect heart function. We did see a kidney specialist concerning this, and the primary care physician is in communication with him. Dad also has vascular dementia. I know how hard dealing with memory loss can be for both patient and family. I will keep you all in my prayers.
544430 tn?1283712658 I am not familiar with Ramipril, so, unfortunately, can't speak to that. I've read posts here where people take a specific type of levothyroxine and have side effects from the dyes in the pill, so that's a possibility. However, I think further work up is probably warranted.
1020296 tn?1251475359 doctor prescribed some medicines which includes baclofen, ramipril, clopidogrel, amolodipine , atenolol, atorvastatin and escitolopram. after taking medicines her pulse rate has gone to 45-50 range and blood pressure is still 160/120. I'd like to ask why pulse rate is going low..is it due to side effect of medicines..
Avatar m tn I had an exercise stress test, which came back normal, and an echocardiogram. Overall the echo was fine. My EF was 53% and and the summary said I had sinus tachycardia. In addition, the results stated that I have borderline global hypokinesis. The size of my left ventricle is normal, but it isn't moving optimally (left ventricular systolic function is borderline reduced). I have always had high blood pressure readings, generally over 130 and in the upper 80s, sometimes over 140.
