Avatar f tn I am confused by the drug RAMIPRIL. The leaflet in box and details in British Formulary list WEIGHT LOSS as a side effect (I have lost 6 kilos). On the Internet there are many letters regarding weight gain but nothing about weeight loss. Why is this?
Avatar m tn It all depends on the hypertension and how well controlled it is. Changes in the heart made by a known issue (hypertension, infections or tachycardia to mention a few) tend to normalize as the underlying condition is treated. The heart, like most organs, easily adapt to changed situations. In the case of hypertension, the heart walls grow to adapt to higher resistance. When such a change is no longer necessary, it often returns to normal.
Avatar f tn I was put on Ramipril 5mg as my BP was high. Wondering how long it takes to work. My pulse is low a 59 but my BP is still high. Is this normal? Im worried if they put the dose up my pulse will go even lower.
544430 tn?1283712658 I am not familiar with Ramipril, so, unfortunately, can't speak to that. I've read posts here where people take a specific type of levothyroxine and have side effects from the dyes in the pill, so that's a possibility. However, I think further work up is probably warranted.
1020296 tn?1251475359 doctor prescribed some medicines which includes baclofen, ramipril, clopidogrel, amolodipine , atenolol, atorvastatin and escitolopram. after taking medicines her pulse rate has gone to 45-50 range and blood pressure is still 160/120. I'd like to ask why pulse rate is going low..is it due to side effect of medicines..
Avatar m tn my systolic was high in the office. I am hypertensive, I take 10mg Ramipril and he put me on 12.5mg of HCTZ. Recently, I started experiencing dizziness during exercise (slow jogging), not spinning but a loopy feeling. So I was told to come in for another stress test. I took it today. A different cardiologist was attending. He stopped the test out when he saw ST depressions when I stood up to get on the treadmill, I was nervous and they went away.
Avatar m tn My 40 year-old wife in recent months has undergone a number of tests following some weight loss. It transpires that she is suffering from hypertension with her 24hr ambulatory readings averaging at 170/110. Further diagnostic tests (ECG, echo and cardiac MRI) were undertaken and her cardiologist told her that her heart is enlarged (moderate) with impaired function (I believe ejection fraction in the region of 45%) but has not been able to identify the root cause of the hypertension.
Avatar f tn RESISTANT HYPERTENSION....It feels like I am the only person in the world with this problem and that there is no answer. In other words, I am feeling pretty hopeless, but mostly scared at this piont. I have had it all my life and I am 58 years old. I have had so many TIA's over the years, but recently, I had a small stroke in my brain stem. .
Avatar f tn I have kidney failure (Gfr generally between 40 and 50 but recently closer to 40), and also crohns which has been in remission for years but has recently been shown to be very active. My problem is for about 12 months now I have been prescribed ramipril for my kidneys and high blood pressure, but in the last few months and weeks (it seems to me since crohns has become active) it is making me feel absolutely terrible.
Avatar f tn My cardiologist put me on ramipril a few wks back and after 10 days ran blood tests whic came back normal. this morning I woke up with diarriah and some serious kidney pain on the right side.It doesn't hurt when I urinate or have a bowel movement although certain body movements cause it to occur. My question is can this be caused by ramipril along with my lasix and potassium with a delayed reaction or buildup?
Avatar f tn Last year I was diagnosed with Stage 2 hypertension and went through about 6 medications before I found one that I could even tolerate. All of the meds were making me completely useless with fatigue. We finally settled on Metroprolol xr, 50 mg. My BP had been pretty stable since. Lately I have been having severe fatigue, and recently my nail beds and lips started turning blue.
Avatar m tn Taking Ramipril In morning for several years. Recently started taking Laxido & banana (for breakfast). About the same time started coughing frequently but intermittently & became slightly breathless when walking. 2 days ago doctor called Emergency as I had persistent chest pain & burping. No heart attack but abnormal ecg, which however improved after being in A&E for several hours. Wondering if Ramipril + laxido + banana too much potassium?
Avatar f tn more and more i see ramipril 2.5 ordered to help kidney function...could you elaborate for my own knowledge please...
Avatar m tn Thank you jrbon. Yes, we are completely aware the part/size of damage of the heart muscle will have the impact on the LVEF. You have mentioned the biggest part of recovery takes place between 6-3 months. After the HA she had, last week was the first time we took the echo, which is precisely 3 months and 2 weeks after the HA, with an increase of 2%. Is it too early to predict by looking at this measure? I heard the ejection rate anything greater than or equal to 50% is good.
