Avatar f tn ACE inhibitors are used for treating high blood pressure, heart failure and for preventing kidney failure due to high blood pressure and diabetes. ACE is important because it is an enzyme responsible for producing the chemical, angiotensin II. Angiotensin II causes muscles in most arteries, including the arteries of the heart, to contract, thereby narrowing the arteries and elevating blood pressure.
Avatar f tn I was put on Ramipril 5mg as my BP was high. Wondering how long it takes to work. My pulse is low a 59 but my BP is still high. Is this normal? Im worried if they put the dose up my pulse will go even lower.
Avatar f tn 4, the nexrt test was 5 he was okay about it, four weeks ago was put back on high blood pressure tablets but prior to starting them they carried out another Kidney blood test and four weeks later l was told bp down to 134/84 on 5mg ramipril but the blood test four weeks ago was high again and has to be repeated.
Avatar n tn Hi, My husband has FSGS, it was discovered about three months ago, due to the fact that he had no energy, swollen legs/feet/ankles, protein in his urine, extremely high cholesterol, high blood pressure and terrible cramps throughout his body, arms and legs. It took three biopsies to find out what was wrong with him.
Avatar f tn It is giving me nothing short of severe chest pains and is actually putting my blood pressure up. Generally speaking my blood pressure is perfect before ramipril (120/80) and always around 150/90 within an hour of taking it. I cannot convince either of my consultants or my GP of this - my GP is claiming I have anxiety issues that are affecting my blood pressure readings.
Avatar f tn I have high blood pressure 170/90, I take ramipril 10mg, and I am seeing my gp on Tuesday, anyone got any suggestions that willl help me to get it under control. I am not over weight.
544430 tn?1283712658 Is Ramipril an ace inhibitor? If so then it's the ace inhibitor. I'm on an ace inhibitor too and I have the cough, BUT I think the cough is better to have than the high blood pressure, BUT only if the cough isn't too much of a bother and doesn't keep you awake at night.
335873 tn?1264913469 High diastolic blood pressure has been linked to stroke. I would be very aggressive with your blood pressure control. You should probably try the ramipril or an alternative ace inhibitor and have your kidney function monitored to look for problems. You could also consider being on an ARB or a diuteric.
Avatar n tn I am 68 and taking 1.25mg Bisoprolol for high blood pressure and can't increase because of low pulse rate. I was also taking Ramipril but developed the terrible cough. My doctor agreed to me trying without this for a month. Two weeks in my BP is mostly between 125/67 and 159/75. The problem is that it does sometimes go higher and when it gets to upper 160s I get irregular heartbeat. I take garlic and Co enzyme Q10. What is the solution?
Avatar m tn The same incident (atrial fibrillation) resulted in the discovery that I had high blood pressure. I am now taking Ramipril to reduce the HBP. A few days every week I stop in at one of the many local pharmacies in the area and take my readings. These pharmacies almost all use the same monitor - the Lifeclinic/Vita-Stat LC300. Safeway uses the PharmaSmart PS-1000. They are all pretty consistent, one-to-the other. Most days my systolic reading is under 140.
Avatar n tn are you a smoker? this can increase blood pressure. Blood pressure does naturally increase with age as the Arteries harden but there is a lot of medication which can help with this, such as Ramipril. Tiring easily can have hundreds of causes from lack of sleep to a lack in minerals in the blood. Maybe you should have several blood tests first to see if you are lacking in something, which in turn is causing blood pressure to elevate.
Avatar m tn theolocke, It sounds as if your doctor has you on a good medical regimen for your high blood pressure. Sometimes finding a dose which is just right can be challenging as you can now attest to. As for your blood pressure during exercise, it is common for your blood pressure to increase with exercise (it is actually abnormal for it to go down). Your blood pressure should only be checked after you have been sitting, quiet and rest for 5 minutes. Hope that this helps.
Avatar n tn Plavix works much like a blood thinner to keep blood cells from sticking together and forming additional clots. The Metoprolol and Ramipril are both used to control your blood pressure by slowing down your heart rate and keeping your heart from being "over worked". These can be difficult to get used to and can cause fatigue, dizziness and a feeling of being disconnected.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your reply. I was put on it due to diastolic dysfunction. They think as i was taking beta blocker and this that also lowers bp plus another of my meds etc was in the mix too. I too had a dry cough. But now ive stopped it its the funny feeling im getting.
Avatar m tn I have always had high blood pressure readings, generally over 130 and in the upper 80s, sometimes over 140. As such my cardiologist has put me on 10mg of ramipril. Now, my blood pressure is always below 120/80. I had a follow-up with my cardiologist this week and mentioned that a couple of times after jogging the irregular heart rate detector on my Omron BP 710 blood pressure monitor flashed.
Avatar m tn Im not certain how you think the blood pressure medication is affecting your diastolic pressure? I'd have to assume that you understand that it should be lowering it and perhaps your question is if youre having some paradoxical response. Have you had a stress echo. Any family history of heart disorders. Any secondary causes of hypertension at such a young age. Certainly you may be experiencing a response to the anti hypertensives.
Avatar n tn My high blood pressure was just 150 last year during the physical examination. Before that, my HBP was about 130. A doctor said I got hypertension. Since my high blood pressure just reach 150, I would like to know how I can effectively treat or control the hypertension, medicine, exercise or what else? My weight is 183lb and I never smoke. I have no other disease. Thank you for your answer.
Avatar n tn Is it possible for ace inhibitors to raise your blood pressure? I just started to take ramipril at night and now my bood pressure is elevated in the morning. I used to take it in the morning and my bp was higher in the evening.
976897 tn?1379167602 How is your heart rate? Can you do beta blockers? Magnesium and potassium affect blood pressure. Foods like blueberries, oatmeal, beets, baked potatoes and bananas are full of magnesium and potassium. I would definitely talk about this BP issue with your doctor. As astute and well informed as you are about anything heart related, I am sure you will make a good decision after being given options. 145/105 is probably too high for someone who has had heart problems.
Avatar m tn You state what your heart rate is now, but what about your blood pressure. If your blood pressure is high and is then put to normal, your heart will not have to work so hard to push blood around your system. However, I had very high blood pressure for years and was also put on Ramapril. My blood pressure was higher than yours and I was on 5mg daily which seemed to be too much, it was reduced to 2.5mg. The only way to establish if the dosage is incorrect is to get your blood pressure measured.
15695260 tn?1549593113 Certain medications that have been prescribed to lower blood pressure can slow dementia in seniors. ACE inhibitors showed a somewhat slower decline in memory and other mental skills than patients not on the drugs for some patients. Common medications in this class of drugs are commonly used medications such as captopril (Capoten), fosinopril (Monopril), lisinopril (Prinivil or Zestril), perindopril (Aceon), ramipril (Altace) and trandolapril (Mavik).
1085866 tn?1256496382 The benefit i get from the stimulants would make it worth me taking blood pressure pills to counteract this. I have started ramipril and if this not enough i will add on amlodopine and both these dont interact with stimulants. You have to ask yourself, is it worth increasing your blood pressure medication to continue with the benefits of the stimulants.
Avatar m tn Calcium channel blocker brought me out of it just before I was zapped. Follow up showed fairly severe high blood pressure (eg, 170/90). Now I'm taking Atenolol (50mg) and Ramipril (5 mg), which have moderated the HBP but it is still quite variable and ranges much higher than desirable. Subsequent stress test was stopped early, at the appearance of depressed ST segments. The cardiologist confirmed that depressed ST segments indicate coronary ischaemia, and he sent me for an angiogram.
