I had to stop taking ramipril 1.25mg after a week due to various side effects. thurs I had severe shaking or chills etc. so stopped it on advice but 4 days later feeling bit better but I keep feeling funny.
its like my head feels funny and the feeling like your lightheaded - going to faint or collapse but not quite and doesn't go away.
t increase because of low pulse rate. I was also taking Ramipril but developed the terrible cough. My doctor agreed to me trying without this for a month. 5mg everyday, for to treat the diabetic nephropathy, i can get ramipril in my town but its 5mg ramipril capsule in the chemists, and his medications are over, so should i let him take the 5mg ramipril? my big concern is would the dose cause hypoglycaemia or any other effects as the dosage will be double the dose hid doctor prescribed? please help me on that, i will be grateful...thank you.

I was put on Ramipril 5mg as my BP was high. Wondering how long it takes to work. My pulse is low a 59 but my BP is still high. Is this normal? Im worried if they put the dose up my pulse will go even lower.
My mother is 66 and has had a persistent dry chronic cough for almost 10 years. She has shortness of breath and is unable to take deep breaths without it causing a coughing fit. The doctors have given her bronchodilators and allergy medication and her condition does not get any better. They now insist that its acid reflux. However, the medication does not help. She sometimes has a low grade fever and her body is super achy from all the coughing.
He has a cough now everytime he lies down. The cough is dry and unproductive. Lately the cough at night causes him to feel like he is gagging or choking but when he sits up to cough he only gags and coughs and there is no sputum. Last night he said this happened six times. I have kidney failure (Gfr generally between 40 and 50 but recently closer to 40), and also crohns which has been in remission for years but has recently been shown to be very active. My problem is for about 12 months now I have been prescribed ramipril for my kidneys and high blood pressure, but in the last few months and weeks (it seems to me since crohns has become active) it is making me feel absolutely terrible.
My cardiologist put me on ramipril a few wks back and after 10 days ran blood tests whic came back normal. this morning I woke up with diarriah and some serious kidney pain on the right side.It doesn't hurt when I urinate or have a bowel movement although certain body movements cause it to occur. My question is can this be caused by ramipril along with my lasix and potassium with a delayed reaction or buildup?
Taking Ramipril In morning for several years. Recently started taking Laxido & banana (for breakfast). About the same time started coughing frequently but intermittently & became slightly breathless when walking. 2 days ago doctor called Emergency as I had persistent chest pain & burping. No heart attack but abnormal ecg, which however improved after being in A&E for several hours. Wondering if Ramipril + laxido + banana too much potassium?

I just started to take ramipril at night and now my bood pressure is elevated in the morning. I used to take it in the morning and my bp was higher in the evening.
I also tale predisilon ,Azithiopring,Ramipril,Aspring.But my Doctor says i have to take this drugs for ever.
Now they stopped predisilon .

That's what we're wondering. The doctors said the ramipril is not just for blood pressure but is also for his weak heart to see if it improves the EF. They've sent him for additional tests and even recommended a higher dose of ramipril despite the fact that his oxygen level was 114 when he did the bicycle test. The doctor kept talking about him being in a state of heart failure which is very unsettling.
Still no proper cure. She takes insulin, Cresto and pressure medication Ramipril. She does annual checkup with Cardiologist too. Please advice.
He has been put on medication which consists of CORTISONES, RAMIPRIL, LASIX and many other medications to reduce the protein, cholesterol, blood pressure etc and some Magnesium for his cramps. He has blood and urine tests every month which so far are showing a small sign of improvement.
He too was told that he could eat anything as it makes no difference, but he does try to avoid red meat.

Your blood pressure is obviously high but you have started with the lifestyle modification with exercise and dietary changes. Moreover ACE inhibitor drugs like Ramipril is a good antihypertensive and should lower the blood pressure. However ensure that you take this drug regularly as prescribed and get your blood pressure monitored at regular intervals.
m not happy with this situation. He also has a persistent cough which may be linked to his medication. He does have some water retention in lower legs. At a recent appointment we were told that the ECG showed his irregular heart rhythm is now more controlled with the medication.
