Ramipril beta blocker

Common Questions and Answers about Ramipril beta blocker

altace

1020296 tn?1251475359 that is quite a high dosage of beta blocker and is likely to give the low pulse. Is the cardiologist aware of this pulse? The blood pressure medication is quite low and could be increased. Ask the Cardiologist if the beta blocker should be reduced and the Ramipril increased.
Avatar n tn I had the problem with coreg (beta blocker and ace inhibitor). Coreg Cr is a single slow acting dose, and the same coreg dosage split to twice a day (morning and night) was more effective. Talk to your doctor.
Avatar m tn Stopped taking plavix after one year, now taking 81 aspirin every other day. Stopped taking beta blocker at one year. Still taking 2.5 Ramipril twice a day. My BP can run 95/65 & Heart rate 60 when resting. I have had two Nucular stress test and performed outstanding. Not currantly seeing any cardiologist as all previous only want to do is test and interventions and or Pacemakers. I exercise three times a week in health club where I do HIT training and get my heart rate up to 175.
Avatar n tn In 2007 I was tried on a few beta blockers and I had side effects from the first ones, mainly blood pressure being too affected. In the end I was tried on a selective beta blocker (Bisoprolol). This beta blocker didn't seem to touch my blood pressure but still relaxed my heart. Maybe it's due to the sheer strength of the medication. Rather than 25mg of most other blockers, I only needed 1.25mg of this one. Any more would reduce my heart rate.
Avatar f tn I was put on it due to diastolic dysfunction. They think as i was taking beta blocker and this that also lowers bp plus another of my meds etc was in the mix too. I too had a dry cough. But now ive stopped it its the funny feeling im getting.
Avatar f tn This morning I woke up feeling very faint and shaky, I also felt as if I would fall forward. I am a heart patient, and take beta blocker (low dose) and ramipril. My bp was up but not very high, my pulse and sats were normal, any ideas as to what caused it, should I have seen my gp?
Avatar m tn Thnak you very much for the reply..But I am an anxious person and was prescribed beta blocker(Metoprolol ER 50mg and Amlong which was changed to 25mg metoprolol ER and Losartan 25mg after 4 years). Yes I dont have any heart problems and nothing in my family and also not diabetic. My age is 40. Still taking metoprolol only and will go for a review soon and would sort things out. I am happy with metoprolol 50mg ER to Bisoprolol 5mg...
907968 tn?1292622204 Oh, and that's a take off from Ed34's question on multi-use pills.
Avatar f tn I would consider asking your doctor for another beta blocker, if you have those side effects from Metoprolol. A lot of beta blockers are available, and since you don't have the "typical" side effects that beta blockers in general may cause (low blood pressure, cold hands/feet, low heart rate, in some cases depression) - some of them are desired effects though, it may be that you have a reaction towards Metoprolol in general.
Avatar f tn Hello....I hope all of you can help. I feel like I'm in beta blocker hell. I've been bed ridden from a car accident for the last 20 yrs. After a recent endoscopy procedure I started getting horrible pounding tachycardia that day. I:m already in a weakened state from being inactive and bedridden. Right after the procedure a week ago...I started getting constant tachycardia almost 24hrs a day. It gets worse when i eat. They hospitalized me for 1 day...did an ECHO....it was normal.
1635396 tn?1301883247 It dilates the vessels, and I have been on that medication for more than 7 years. A beta blocker is more appropriate for stablizing heart rate, but some beta blockers have some beneficial affect on blood pressure. Thanks for your question, and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond.
Avatar f tn 25mg is a low dose but on the other hand bisoprolol is a powerful beta blocker. I was on 1.25mg for years and had no issues except when they recommended I increase to 5mg and then my heart rate dropped to mid 20's. I did find that bisoprolol did very little for blood pressure, I had to take Ramipril on top for that. It sounds more like a nerve issue to me which can cause numbness/cold/tingling/pain.
Avatar f tn If you know for sure that the tachycardia start was caught on one of the monitors then they can make a likely guess that it is an accessory pathway svt but they have to see the start. Seeing it in action will only tell them if it is afib or regular svt but they can't really tell what kind until they get into the study so if you know your worst symptoms were caught on one of the monitors you have worn then it is possible they don't suspect an accessory pathway svt.
Avatar m tn Beta blockers reduce the Heart rate, the more you take, the less the Heart can work. Decreasing beta blocker dosages should raise your heart rate, allowing it to work harder. The risk of reducing beta blockers is that you will allow your heart to work too hard for its own good, causing more damage. Ejection fraction is calculated by..... measuring the volume of blood within a ventricle immediately before a contraction (end-diastolic volume).
Avatar m tn t like the Beta-blocker (shortness of breath during exercise, night sweats). My cardiologist weaned my off the Toprol XL over a two week period and put me on Norvasc (a Calcium channel blocker). I could only take it for about three weeks before swelling of the ankles made it (in my opinion, I didn't tell him about it) impossible to continue. Now, I just do the Dyazide and check my blood pressure. Don't know about Carvedilol.
976897 tn?1379167602 My Ramipril is hardly working now, it looks as though I'm becoming immune to its effects. My current BP is around 145/105 and sometimes higher. Is there a natural substance which helps with BP that anyone knows of? Or, do I need to ask the Doctor to change me to another med?
1567714 tn?1318573193 You are on two BP meds, a beta blocker to slow your heart rate (Atenolol) and an ACE inhibitor to relax your arteries and allow them to absorb each beat a little easier (Ramipril ). Do you know if your doctor has added a diuretic to these? If not, I would ask about one to help with the fluid retention. Your heart rate is fine, no worries there. Normal is between 60 - 100 and the lower your heart rate is generally means the better condition your heart is in.
Avatar m tn You may need, in addition to the ramipril a low dose of a beta blocker. Otherwise, an EP study and ablation can be attempted if medicatons fail to treat your symptoms.
Avatar m tn A beta blocker prevents one from reaching a maximum heart rate. I have been on coreg (beta blocker) and anyone who is on a physical exercise program knows the heart rate cannot be reached when on beta blockers. The best medicine for high blood pressure is an ACE inhibitor (mine is lisinopril for more than 7 years). I also take coreg (beta blocker) to stablize the heart rate. ACE inhibitor mechanism to lower blood pressure is to block the angiotensin produced by the kidneys...
Avatar f tn If you are speaking of the Atenolol, a beta blocker, I claim it has no effect on stroke mitigation, other than to the extent that it stops any episodes of AFib. From what you say your AFib isn't causing you athletic activities any problems. That suggests to me that includes you resting HR is reasonable as well as your exercise HR. All this being the case and if your BP is also in a good range I'd say I'd be inclined not to take the BB.
627646 tn?1325170607 Her doctors are having a problem medicating her without her feeling sick and her breathlessness is getting worse. Their latest attempt is a beta blocker called Ramipril which I am sure that she should not be taking with asthma and an ace inhibitor along with a water tablet. Do you know of any other patients with these conditions and if so do they have a good drug regime that we could recommend to my mothers Doctor?
Avatar f tn I stopped the medication after a week and hey presto, BP back to borderline and no pains. It appears they have put you on a beta blocker to control your blood pressure, which also restrains the heart from reacting to adrenaline. I was like a zombie when on beta blockers. I think maybe the beta blockers are upsetting things and the longer you take them, the harder it is to wean off. Have you looked at possible causes of high blood pressure in your diet?
Avatar n tn Hi - 49yo male in otherwise good health, had an mi and placement of 3 stents in RCA. Was told that there was no damage to my heart, and have returned to all activity including hi-intensity workouts (which I was doing pre-mi). I've put on about 30 "pity-pounds" (from 185 to 215) and despite increase in exercise and near-saintly eating habits, having a hard time losing. I suspect that Toprol is causing this problem.
Avatar m tn m making some good progress without any medication at all, just with counseling and reading. But, maybe if a beta blocker would help with the generalized day-in/day-out 24/7 anxiety I should try it. Just seeing if anyone has any experience with beta blockers. I am doing great battling the full-blown panic attacks but I still have constant anxiety. Oh, and I'm not sure which beta blocker my doctor sent in a prescription for. Thanks!
