Ramipril and low blood pressure

Common Questions and Answers about Ramipril and low blood pressure

Avatar m tn I have always had high blood pressure readings, generally over 130 and in the upper 80s, sometimes over 140. As such my cardiologist has put me on 10mg of ramipril. Now, my blood pressure is always below 120/80. I had a follow-up with my cardiologist this week and mentioned that a couple of times after jogging the irregular heart rate detector on my Omron BP 710 blood pressure monitor flashed.
Avatar f tn What is your blood pressure reading averages?
Avatar n tn I am 68 and taking 1.25mg Bisoprolol for high blood pressure and can't increase because of low pulse rate. I was also taking Ramipril but developed the terrible cough. My doctor agreed to me trying without this for a month. Two weeks in my BP is mostly between 125/67 and 159/75. The problem is that it does sometimes go higher and when it gets to upper 160s I get irregular heartbeat. I take garlic and Co enzyme Q10. What is the solution?
Avatar f tn It is giving me nothing short of severe chest pains and is actually putting my blood pressure up. Generally speaking my blood pressure is perfect before ramipril (120/80) and always around 150/90 within an hour of taking it. I cannot convince either of my consultants or my GP of this - my GP is claiming I have anxiety issues that are affecting my blood pressure readings.
Avatar n tn I just started to take ramipril at night and now my bood pressure is elevated in the morning. I used to take it in the morning and my bp was higher in the evening.
Avatar m tn Your current blood pressure of 130/56 looked low enough for me. I have no idea why propafenone has been prescribed? I thought this was for patients with arrhythmia? I also have no idea why calcium channel blockers have been prescribed (amlodipine) ? This is a particularly nasty med with lots of dizziness and nausea side effects. Has your cardio tried Ramipril, used for high blood pressure? It's an ace inhibitor and works great. I take 2.5mg morning and night and my blood pressure is fine.
Avatar f tn Angiotensin II causes muscles in most arteries, including the arteries of the heart, to contract, thereby narrowing the arteries and elevating blood pressure. ACE inhibitors such as ramipril lower blood pressure by reducing the production of angiotensin II, thereby relaxing arterial muscle and enlarging arteries. In the kidneys, the narrowing of the arteries by angiotensin II decreases blood flow. ACE inhibitors enlarge and reduce the blood pressure in the arteries going to the kidney.
Avatar f tn 4, the nexrt test was 5 he was okay about it, four weeks ago was put back on high blood pressure tablets but prior to starting them they carried out another Kidney blood test and four weeks later l was told bp down to 134/84 on 5mg ramipril but the blood test four weeks ago was high again and has to be repeated.
544430 tn?1283712658 Is Ramipril an ace inhibitor? If so then it's the ace inhibitor. I'm on an ace inhibitor too and I have the cough, BUT I think the cough is better to have than the high blood pressure, BUT only if the cough isn't too much of a bother and doesn't keep you awake at night.
Avatar m tn Im not certain how you think the blood pressure medication is affecting your diastolic pressure? I'd have to assume that you understand that it should be lowering it and perhaps your question is if youre having some paradoxical response. Have you had a stress echo. Any family history of heart disorders. Any secondary causes of hypertension at such a young age. Certainly you may be experiencing a response to the anti hypertensives.
Avatar m tn You state what your heart rate is now, but what about your blood pressure. If your blood pressure is high and is then put to normal, your heart will not have to work so hard to push blood around your system. However, I had very high blood pressure for years and was also put on Ramapril. My blood pressure was higher than yours and I was on 5mg daily which seemed to be too much, it was reduced to 2.5mg. The only way to establish if the dosage is incorrect is to get your blood pressure measured.
Avatar m tn As for your blood pressure during exercise, it is common for your blood pressure to increase with exercise (it is actually abnormal for it to go down). Your blood pressure should only be checked after you have been sitting, quiet and rest for 5 minutes. Hope that this helps.
Avatar n tn He has been put on medication which consists of CORTISONES, RAMIPRIL, LASIX and many other medications to reduce the protein, cholesterol, blood pressure etc and some Magnesium for his cramps. He has blood and urine tests every month which so far are showing a small sign of improvement. He too was told that he could eat anything as it makes no difference, but he does try to avoid red meat.
Avatar m tn Within the last few months the GP has prescribed 5Mg of Ramipril after I have been taking Atenolol over many years. My blood pressure is controlled but I seem to be experiencing a higher level of general anxiety. Is there any link?
Avatar f tn This morning I woke up feeling very faint and shaky, I also felt as if I would fall forward. I am a heart patient, and take beta blocker (low dose) and ramipril. My bp was up but not very high, my pulse and sats were normal, any ideas as to what caused it, should I have seen my gp?
Avatar n tn I had to take ace inhibitors a couple of times over the years to reduce blood pressure and Ramipril was chosen. Bisoprolol has a long lasting action, so only one a day is necessary.
1085866 tn?1256496382 The benefit i get from the stimulants would make it worth me taking blood pressure pills to counteract this. I have started ramipril and if this not enough i will add on amlodopine and both these dont interact with stimulants. You have to ask yourself, is it worth increasing your blood pressure medication to continue with the benefits of the stimulants.
15695260 tn?1549593113 Certain medications that have been prescribed to lower blood pressure can slow dementia in seniors. ACE inhibitors showed a somewhat slower decline in memory and other mental skills than patients not on the drugs for some patients. Common medications in this class of drugs are commonly used medications such as captopril (Capoten), fosinopril (Monopril), lisinopril (Prinivil or Zestril), perindopril (Aceon), ramipril (Altace) and trandolapril (Mavik).
Avatar f tn I take ramipril for my blood pressure.
335873 tn?1264913469 High diastolic blood pressure has been linked to stroke. I would be very aggressive with your blood pressure control. You should probably try the ramipril or an alternative ace inhibitor and have your kidney function monitored to look for problems. You could also consider being on an ARB or a diuteric.
976897 tn?1379167602 m on no beta blockers or blood pressure meds at the moment. They decided to look at my blood pressure because of the recent loss of my wife. I saw my Cardiologist last week and my BP then was 155/101 and he said he wasn't concerned and it was likely the recent stress causing it. He said he would leave it a few months. I still haven't heard anything from my Doctor about the results. I used to take Ramipril ace inhibitors back from 2007-2009.
Avatar n tn This resulted in one evening my BP falling very low, pulse racing and syncope. The vaso-vagal was wrongly diagnosed as VT and implantation of ICD in 2008. I changed my cardiologis after that and was brought to lower dose of beta blocker 2x12.5 mg and ACE-I 1x5 mg daily. My BP has remained at 105-110/70 throughout, thereafter. This helped me a lot, my health improved, my stamina improved and even my heary function has now improved.
Avatar m tn An incident five months ago started me monitoring my blood pressure regularly. The same incident (atrial fibrillation) resulted in the discovery that I had high blood pressure. I am now taking Ramipril to reduce the HBP. A few days every week I stop in at one of the many local pharmacies in the area and take my readings. These pharmacies almost all use the same monitor - the Lifeclinic/Vita-Stat LC300. Safeway uses the PharmaSmart PS-1000. They are all pretty consistent, one-to-the other.
Avatar n tn are you a smoker? this can increase blood pressure. Blood pressure does naturally increase with age as the Arteries harden but there is a lot of medication which can help with this, such as Ramipril. Tiring easily can have hundreds of causes from lack of sleep to a lack in minerals in the blood. Maybe you should have several blood tests first to see if you are lacking in something, which in turn is causing blood pressure to elevate.
