So, my cardio took me off of the ramipril and put me on 12.5 mg of metoprolol twice a day and in addition to my 12.5 of HCTZ. However, after a week of feeling exhausted, having a resting heart rate consistently in the low 50s, and not much higher otherwise, I complained during my follow up. My cardio gave me some samples of 10 mg coreg to take once a day and a prescription to fill if the side effects from the metoprolol do not get any better.

5mg everyday, for to treat the diabetic nephropathy, i can get ramipril in my town but its 5mg ramipril capsule in the chemists, and his medications are over, so should i let him take the 5mg ramipril? my big concern is would the dose cause hypoglycaemia or any other effects as the dosage will be double the dose hid doctor prescribed? please help me on that, i will be grateful...thank you.

that is quite a high dosage of beta blocker and is likely to give the low pulse. Is the cardiologist aware of this pulse? The blood pressure medication is quite low and could be increased. Ask the Cardiologist if the beta blocker should be reduced and the Ramipril increased.

I have kidney failure (Gfr generally between 40 and 50 but recently closer to 40), and also crohns which has been in remission for years but has recently been shown to be very active. My problem is for about 12 months now I have been prescribed ramipril for my kidneys and high blood pressure, but in the last few months and weeks (it seems to me since crohns has become active) it is making me feel absolutely terrible.

On May 12, I stopped taking HCTZ. I had read that some had had problems with HCTZ and sweating. Gradually, I seemed to have less sweating. Also, the feeling of being hot most of the time seemed to lessen. It is summer, and I do get hot, but others are hot, also. When I do sweat, it seems like a more normal sweat. I don't have sweat pouring down my face and into my eyes as much as I did, and my clothes don't become as wet.

I just started to take ramipril at night and now my bood pressure is elevated in the morning. I used to take it in the morning and my bp was higher in the evening.

ve read a lot of horror stories of HCTZ causing severe visual problems such as closed-angle glaucoma and other vision losses. Has anyone experienced this with BP medications such as the one mentioned?

I am confused by the drug RAMIPRIL. The leaflet in box and details in British Formulary list WEIGHT LOSS as a side effect (I have lost 6 kilos). On the Internet there are many letters regarding weight gain but nothing about weeight loss. Why is this?

7 weeks ago, after getting quarterly labs done, my PCP said my calcium was too high and took me off the HCTZ. She also said my TSH levels were high and placed me on synthroid. Last week I had office visit and my BP was 150/90. My doctor then put me on metaprolol. I started getting headaches every day. My BP remained at 150 to 160 over 90 to 100. After an office visit today she ordered hydralazine be added to my growing list of meds.

I was put on Ramipril 5mg as my BP was high. Wondering how long it takes to work. My pulse is low a 59 but my BP is still high. Is this normal? Im worried if they put the dose up my pulse will go even lower.

I used HCTZ for 10 years to control my blood calcium. Last year, I got one morning and my heart rate when up to 128. My endo took me off HCTZ and my internal put me on Lopressor. I contued having a high heart rate after HCTZ was out of my system. This year, I was put back on HCTZ due to high urine calcium content but I could not tolerate the drug at all. Even though I was taking Lopressor, I had several instances where my heart went crazy and the beat shot up to 128-146.

I am not familiar with Ramipril, so, unfortunately, can't speak to that. I've read posts here where people take a specific type of levothyroxine and have side effects from the dyes in the pill, so that's a possibility. However, I think further work up is probably warranted.

The only way to see is to visit your Doc and explain your symptoms. I think your meds are the key here but they shouldn't be given to you if they make you feel worse. The whole idea of meds is to improve you. You won't believe how many meds I've tried. For example, a few years ago my Doc said "I'm going to try you on Nicorandil, it's a blood pressure pill prescribed to old people and I've never had a complaint".

I was on HCTZ for awhile, and I was having similar issues. I don't know if it was chest pain exactly, but I was having some chest-related issues. Turns out HCTZ was causing my potassium levels to drop. Spoke to the dr, got off the HCTZ, and felt better. Sometimes the diuretics take out a little too much.

Hello I have been diagnosed with LVH on echo and cardiologist said its ok and I am now on ramipril 1.25 mg. I have seen that ecg with inverted t waves and st-t but the doctors are brushing that away and saying to forget that. I am quite anxious and cannot trust.

My cardiologist put me on ramipril a few wks back and after 10 days ran blood tests whic came back normal. this morning I woke up with diarriah and some serious kidney pain on the right side.It doesn't hurt when I urinate or have a bowel movement although certain body movements cause it to occur. Taking Ramipril In morning for several years. Recently started taking Laxido & banana (for breakfast). About the same time started coughing frequently but intermittently & became slightly breathless when walking. 2 days ago doctor called Emergency as I had persistent chest pain & burping. No heart attack but abnormal ecg, which however improved after being in A&E for several hours. Wondering if Ramipril + laxido + banana too much potassium?

I've been lactating and wasn't sure if I was pregnant. My doctor did a blood test to see if I was and also did a hormone test to see why I was lactating if by chance I wasn't pregnant. Also at that visit she put me on hctz because I've been retaining water and wanted me to take it every other day. Hello Lynda First, Im glad that your blood pressure is better controlled and it sounds like you and your doctor have agreed that you dont need HCTZ. If your symptoms were due to HCTZ, they should have corrected themselves relatively soon after you stopped it. It sounds like they continued. Im quite concerned that your symptoms sound suspicious for urinary tract infection or other bladder associated problems. I dont feel comfortable attributing it to the HCTZ.

I am 68 and taking 1.25mg Bisoprolol for high blood pressure and can't increase because of low pulse rate. I was also taking Ramipril but developed the terrible cough. My doctor agreed to me trying without this for a month. Two weeks in my BP is mostly between 125/67 and 159/75. The problem is that it does sometimes go higher and when it gets to upper 160s I get irregular heartbeat. I take garlic and Co enzyme Q10. What is the solution?
