ramipril and grapefruit

5mg everyday, for to treat the diabetic nephropathy, i can get ramipril in my town but its 5mg ramipril capsule in the chemists, and his medications are over, so should i let him take the 5mg ramipril? my big concern is would the dose cause hypoglycaemia or any other effects as the dosage will be double the dose hid doctor prescribed? please help me on that, i will be grateful...thank you.

that is quite a high dosage of beta blocker and is likely to give the low pulse. Is the cardiologist aware of this pulse? The blood pressure medication is quite low and could be increased. Ask the Cardiologist if the beta blocker should be reduced and the Ramipril increased.

I have kidney failure (Gfr generally between 40 and 50 but recently closer to 40), and also crohns which has been in remission for years but has recently been shown to be very active. My problem is for about 12 months now I have been prescribed ramipril for my kidneys and high blood pressure, but in the last few months and weeks (it seems to me since crohns has become active) it is making me feel absolutely terrible.

I was put on Ramipril 5mg as my BP was high. Wondering how long it takes to work. My pulse is low a 59 but my BP is still high. Is this normal? Im worried if they put the dose up my pulse will go even lower.

I am not familiar with Ramipril, so, unfortunately, can't speak to that. I've read posts here where people take a specific type of levothyroxine and have side effects from the dyes in the pill, so that's a possibility. However, I think further work up is probably warranted.

grapefruit makes your body metabolize the medicine faster and could result in overdose.

Several of my drugs (Lamictal, Seroquel, & Valium - at a minimum) interact w/ grapefruit. It's on all of the information that comes from the pharmacy and I didn't take it seriously until I got pretty toxic myself. I LOVE grapefruits & grapefruit juice and I miss them a lot. I also tend towards side effects and toxicity.

Hello I have been diagnosed with LVH on echo and cardiologist said its ok and I am now on ramipril 1.25 mg. I have seen that ecg with inverted t waves and st-t but the doctors are brushing that away and saying to forget that. I am quite anxious and cannot trust.

My cardiologist put me on ramipril a few wks back and after 10 days ran blood tests whic came back normal. this morning I woke up with diarriah and some serious kidney pain on the right side.It doesn't hurt when I urinate or have a bowel movement although certain body movements cause it to occur. My question is can this be caused by ramipril along with my lasix and potassium with a delayed reaction or buildup?

Wow looks like i should have read the warning label when my doc gave me to take them PRN or as necessary to re convert myself......okay i just went off of the site and read up on the label...they are telling us not to take it with the citrus because it effects how our body absorbs the Multaq for maximum performance of the med...if it were me and i had to take it on a daily basis i probably would stay away from all citrus drinks for sure because you want to give yourself the best shot possible...

This may seem to be a silly question, but has anyone heard from their doctors not to combine methimazole and grapefruit? Online research seems to say it's not flagged as interacting but also notes that no studies have been done to see if it does interact. I was wondering if anyone's doctor had said anything? Grapefruit juice and grapefruit also interacts negatively with some anxiety meds (Alprazolam, for example).

Taking Ramipril In morning for several years. Recently started taking Laxido & banana (for breakfast). About the same time started coughing frequently but intermittently & became slightly breathless when walking. 2 days ago doctor called Emergency as I had persistent chest pain & burping. Hi Chicky Watch out for interactions with grapefruit juice and meds. I went on Zoloft in anticipation of beginning treatment. Then read about the grapefruit juice-turns out they use the same enzyme to clear your system so you can get too much of the drug in your system and get liver toxicity. Grapefruit acts that way with many drugs, so check first, then drink up.

i need to know that, what is the interaction between juices of Grapefruit and Hepatitis C? is there any reactions of Grapefruit juice being taken by Hepatitis C patient?

I am 68 and taking 1.25mg Bisoprolol for high blood pressure and can't increase because of low pulse rate. I was also taking Ramipril but developed the terrible cough. My doctor agreed to me trying without this for a month. Two weeks in my BP is mostly between 125/67 and 159/75. The problem is that it does sometimes go higher and when it gets to upper 160s I get irregular heartbeat. I take garlic and Co enzyme Q10. What is the solution?

You may need, in addition to the ramipril a low dose of a beta blocker. Otherwise, an EP study and ablation can be attempted if medicatons fail to treat your symptoms.
