1020296 tn?1251475359 that is quite a high dosage of beta blocker and is likely to give the low pulse. Is the cardiologist aware of this pulse? The blood pressure medication is quite low and could be increased. Ask the Cardiologist if the beta blocker should be reduced and the Ramipril increased.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Atenolol for approx 10 yrs now for an irregular heart rhythm as well as General Anxiety Disorder. i also have MVP and the Atenolol has really worked quite well in keeping my symptoms in check. I started on 25 mg of Atenolol and in Dec. 2008 my Dr. increased it to 50 mgs as I had a couple of episodes of tacchycardia. Since the increase in meds, I have put on approx 15-20 lbs despite being active (recently increased to 30-40 mins of cardio/day).
1567714 tn?1318573193 You are on two BP meds, a beta blocker to slow your heart rate (Atenolol) and an ACE inhibitor to relax your arteries and allow them to absorb each beat a little easier (Ramipril ). Do you know if your doctor has added a diuretic to these? If not, I would ask about one to help with the fluid retention. Your heart rate is fine, no worries there. Normal is between 60 - 100 and the lower your heart rate is generally means the better condition your heart is in.
Avatar m tn In September I had a single, unprecedented, episode of atrial fibrillation. Calcium channel blocker brought me out of it just before I was zapped. Follow up showed fairly severe high blood pressure (eg, 170/90). Now I'm taking Atenolol (50mg) and Ramipril (5 mg), which have moderated the HBP but it is still quite variable and ranges much higher than desirable. Subsequent stress test was stopped early, at the appearance of depressed ST segments.
Avatar f tn m on Ramipril 5mg od, 81m ASA od and was prescribed Atenolol 25mg qam. Since reading the side effects I am very nervous to start this med. I love to run but am I at a high risk for stroke if I don't start this? BP readings are well controlled. Can I productively run, swim and bike still?
Avatar n tn Sorry I failed to say that as far as I know the BB along with a statin, ramipril and aspirin are to control high blod pressure and offer protection after a heart attack. A stent was put in at the time, about 6 years ago.
Avatar f tn 5mg everyday, for to treat the diabetic nephropathy, i can get ramipril in my town but its 5mg ramipril capsule in the chemists, and his medications are over, so should i let him take the 5mg ramipril? my big concern is would the dose cause hypoglycaemia or any other effects as the dosage will be double the dose hid doctor prescribed? please help me on that, i will be grateful...thank you.

Avatar f tn I have kidney failure (Gfr generally between 40 and 50 but recently closer to 40), and also crohns which has been in remission for years but has recently been shown to be very active. My problem is for about 12 months now I have been prescribed ramipril for my kidneys and high blood pressure, but in the last few months and weeks (it seems to me since crohns has become active) it is making me feel absolutely terrible.
Avatar f tn I would also like to hear from people who might have had good results using something other than atenolol for the tachycardia. It does work, but both my cardiologist and PCP say that the T4 and atenolol each increase the need for the other, making it a bit of a vicious circle. I have considered radio frequency ablation, and don't view it as an option except under extreme circumstances. Finally, can anyone advise on what kind of a doctor is best for this scenario?
Avatar n tn I just started to take ramipril at night and now my bood pressure is elevated in the morning. I used to take it in the morning and my bp was higher in the evening.
1102792 tn?1285925260 So the Dr said he suspected a prob with my coronary arteries and that my heart was getting enough blood, he told me to avoid strenuous exercises like running but rather should continue with tennis and walking or slow jogging and to rest anytime I feel discomfort. He placed on amlodipine 10mg, ramipril, isordil (nitrate) clopidogrel 75mg and moduretic. He told me to stop atenolol for now until we are sure of what really happened.
Avatar f tn I am confused by the drug RAMIPRIL. The leaflet in box and details in British Formulary list WEIGHT LOSS as a side effect (I have lost 6 kilos). On the Internet there are many letters regarding weight gain but nothing about weeight loss. Why is this?
Avatar f tn I was put on Ramipril 5mg as my BP was high. Wondering how long it takes to work. My pulse is low a 59 but my BP is still high. Is this normal? Im worried if they put the dose up my pulse will go even lower.
544430 tn?1283712658 I am not familiar with Ramipril, so, unfortunately, can't speak to that. I've read posts here where people take a specific type of levothyroxine and have side effects from the dyes in the pill, so that's a possibility. However, I think further work up is probably warranted.
Avatar f tn Hello I have been diagnosed with LVH on echo and cardiologist said its ok and I am now on ramipril 1.25 mg. I have seen that ecg with inverted t waves and st-t but the doctors are brushing that away and saying to forget that. I am quite anxious and cannot trust.
Avatar f tn My cardiologist put me on ramipril a few wks back and after 10 days ran blood tests whic came back normal. this morning I woke up with diarriah and some serious kidney pain on the right side.It doesn't hurt when I urinate or have a bowel movement although certain body movements cause it to occur. My question is can this be caused by ramipril along with my lasix and potassium with a delayed reaction or buildup?
Avatar m tn Taking Ramipril In morning for several years. Recently started taking Laxido & banana (for breakfast). About the same time started coughing frequently but intermittently & became slightly breathless when walking. 2 days ago doctor called Emergency as I had persistent chest pain & burping. No heart attack but abnormal ecg, which however improved after being in A&E for several hours. Wondering if Ramipril + laxido + banana too much potassium?
Avatar f tn I've been diagnosed with benign PVCs. I had anywhere from 0 a day to 550 a day. For a while it was terrible and I'd have 400+ everyday for about a week. My doctor prescribed me Atenolol 25mg and I take about half a pill (a little more.) every 6-8 hours . It knocked them out cold!! I was so surprised by how drastically it dropped my pvcs. Now I never feel more than 5 a day. If any at all. Is this a coincidence or does atenolol really help?
Avatar n tn I am 68 and taking 1.25mg Bisoprolol for high blood pressure and can't increase because of low pulse rate. I was also taking Ramipril but developed the terrible cough. My doctor agreed to me trying without this for a month. Two weeks in my BP is mostly between 125/67 and 159/75. The problem is that it does sometimes go higher and when it gets to upper 160s I get irregular heartbeat. I take garlic and Co enzyme Q10. What is the solution?
Avatar m tn You may need, in addition to the ramipril a low dose of a beta blocker. Otherwise, an EP study and ablation can be attempted if medicatons fail to treat your symptoms.
544430 tn?1283712658 i am taken 5mg of ramipril and 50micrograms thyroxine,daily..... i have an occasional cough...the DR says it is caused by Ramipril but cant change my med because im been treated for Excema which i've had now for 18 mths..
Avatar f tn This morning I woke up feeling very faint and shaky, I also felt as if I would fall forward. I am a heart patient, and take beta blocker (low dose) and ramipril. My bp was up but not very high, my pulse and sats were normal, any ideas as to what caused it, should I have seen my gp?
214529 tn?1333303619 Your doctor will be able to work with you to find a way to control your palpitations and minimise the side effects of Atenolol . Atenolol is a very useful drug for suppressing premature ventricular contractions (PVCs). Most of the fatigue symptoms you describe with the Atenolol are common when the drug is started but as you body becomes more used to the drug, you should be better able to tolerate it. It should not make you have more PVCs but this can be detected with a Holter monitor.
