Avatar f tn Lymphnodes clear and had five weeks of radiation treatment. Tried Tomxifene but made me ill. Dr, recommended Raloxifene. does Raloxifene prevent the recurrance of my type of breast cancer? Marian This discussion is related to Aromatase vs. Raloxifene.
Avatar f tn So I feel comfortable waiting for the flashes to settle down before trying the Raloxifene and if needed, Effexor. Dr also gave me a back-up prescr for Clonidine, which she says is good for flashes. I'm going to ask her about Celexa and Lexapro in lieu of Effexor. I don't want to take any of that cr*p. I always seem to get the bad side effects from any meds I try. The only bad thing about waiting to start the Evista is that I have already jumped from osteopenia to osteoporosis.
Avatar f tn A woman with ADH as well as other risk factors may have a risk that is high enough to consider medications. The medications currently FDA approved as chemoprevention for breast cancer are tamoxifen and raloxifene. Decisions to use a medication as chemoprevention would be made based on weighing the risks and benefits to the individual patient.
Avatar f tn My mom 50 yrs old underwent mastectomy in the right breast for 0.7cm DCIS In-Situ. The lymph nodes tested negative and they said lucily the cancer has not spread to any part of the body. (We were scared of lumpectomy because of the radiation follow-ups and also thinking the cancer might return) She has tested ER+ though. Is this something to be very worried of? Is there a chance of the cancer occuring in the other breast?
Avatar f tn 2weeks ago in followup they found 5*7mm mass and in coreneedle biopsy they found atypical hyperplasia and do surgery for exisional biopsy, and administer raloxifen, but i am not sure to use it because i know it dosen't affect on breast cancer or prevention of it what must i do?
Avatar f tn Aside from radiation, you can ask your doctor about other breast cancer risk reduction strategies such as that of hormonal treatment with tamoxifen or raloxifene. Other breast conditions that may increase the risk of invasive cancer would include DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ). Regards.

It is also used as adjunct in clinical study for tardive dyskinesia, Parkinson's Disease and psychosis from Parkinson's (which is different in origin than schizophrenia psychosis, they also found it of use in me in the study criteria tardive psychosis but more research needs to be done on that criteria itself before its determined whether it exists or not to begin with).

Avatar n tn I have been told by Oncologist that have 5 times risk factor for breast cancer. Am on raloxifene. Last nite I noticed some dimpling on the biopsied breast abt 1" from incision scar. Just had a manual exam by the Oncologist and don't want to seem like a hypochondriac, but should I see him again. He felt nothing during manual exam, but the lump that was removed was not palpable either and only detected by mammo.
Avatar f tn My Dad diagnosed schizophrenic 46 years ago has deteriorated over last 4 years and has been told that he never had schizophrenia that he has bipolar disorder. He has not has psychosis for 36 years always on different meds. HE is making my mothers life hell she is a saint and his full time carer, he is so full of ANGER and taking it out on her. Is that depression? or what is it. What medication would help with this. HE is on high dose epilim and lower dose of Seroquel together.
1021784 tn?1306363011 As the above poster has repeated, Latuda is almost exclusively used to treat Schizophrenia, but she adds that it is prescribed for "other uses." After a great deal more reading and three phone calls, I have found that the ONLY other condition Latuda is used for is bi-polar disorder and most doctors prescribe it as a last ditch attempt due to its side effects. As the preceeding poster advised......"Ask your doctor WHY he prescribed this for you.
Avatar n tn Cancer Center physicians are participating in a clinical trial called STAR, where the effectiveness of Raloxifene is being compared to that of Tamoxifen for the prevention of breast cancer in high risk women. Your cancer center physician will be able to discuss each of these options with you in more detail, and help to guide your treatment decision to the one most appropriate for your specific situation. If you want further information please go to breastcancer.org the link is: http://www.

Doctors don't tell that as well. My guess is schizotypal personality disorder looking at the notes of doctor. I think stackexchange can help me this much.

Avatar f tn I spoke to someone I have known for a while the other day and he/she said that it was not that he/she thought he/she was cured that was not the reason he/she did not want to take the meds the problem was that sterotypes If someone found out he/she was taking the meds they would treat he/she different. He/she had seen this in other people the stereotypes caused them to be outcast and that hurt them badly emotionally.
Avatar n tn The hormone therapy has so many side affects. The drugs suggested for me are Arimidex or Raloxifene. Is there anyone that does not take hormone therapy and is still doing well with no recurrance?
Avatar f tn Now its getting worse! OK well I have ocd and a fear of schizophrenia.... Well for the past week or two ( since I have had this fear) I have been "hearing" things but..... I kinda knew they were things in my environment..... BUT the last day or two I have been "hearing" things that I know for a fact are not there! Yeah a few times I knew it was something in my environment but :/ some things I know aren't there!
Avatar m tn Is it possible that i have Schizophrenia or im getting Schizophrenia? disordered thinking, depersonalization, depersonalization, lack of pleasure in everyday life, feels extremely suspicious to what my girlfriend does and etc. Could it be Schizophrenia?
Avatar f tn I am curious to this question, If someone does not have any family background of schizophrenia and they are the only 1% of the population that gets schizophrenia anyways, how can it be just genetic? This is depressing. How can they prove that a child has 30 40 or 60 percent chance of getting this disease? Because I sopposedly had schiz now I find out whether or not I have it I probably can't adopt and they say I should not have kids.
Avatar f tn Hi I am 12 weeks and this is my first child I have a bipolar mother and a brother with schizophrenia what can I do to prevent such conditions ?how much should I take colic acid or omega3 per day?
Avatar m tn What is your age? It is very, and I mean VERY rare for anyone to develope Schizophrenia after the age of about 20. Depression and Schizophrenia are two very different illnesses. People with Severe untreated Depression can also suffer from mild to moderate delusions and irrational thinking.
Avatar f tn I believe that you are a candidate for risk lowering strategies such as taking hormonal agents (raloxifene or tamoxifen), or surgery (mastectomy). All of these should be discussed with an oncologist or surgeon. Regards.
