Avatar f tn At first I thought it was stomach flu until I realised that my throat was feeling weird and I was getting air involuntarily popping at my throat. (I hardly ever burp before this.) The docter prescribed me with Omeprazole for 2 weeks. But it didn't go away for improve for that matter so I went back and was prescribed with Famotidine which proved to reduce the frequency of my reflux. When I was on Omeprazole, I was experiencing reflux a few times a day.

I have been using Rabeprazole for 5 years now, was workin good, recently my symptoms were back and i started taking 2 doses 20mg each daily.
Avatar f tn I should add that I’ve been taking PPIs everyday for 5 months and it’s not helping. Tried Omeprazole 40mg, Pantoprozole 40mg, nexium 40mg, rabeprazole 20mg with domperidone, vocinti 20mg.
Avatar m tn Best treatment option is Triple therapy while prescription require little modifications like change in Antibiotics depending on drug sensitivity,Change in PPI-omeprazole to Rabeprazole or Esmoprazole or Lansoprazole), H2 antagonists-Cimetidine or Famotidine or Ranitidine,Adjustment in combinations of antacids with colic medications and Vitamin B12,dietary modifications, observation of symptoms and regular follow up,which may vary depending on observation with the Attending Physician.
Avatar m tn Other than that it can be due to acidity, gastric reflux, hyperthyroidism or low testosterone. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. See if it helps. If it does not help, consult a doctor. Take care!
Avatar m tn I was on omeprazole 10mg, then pantoprazole 20mg and then rabeprazole 20mg. in total I was on PPIs for 3 months. I did change my diet to be more GERD friendly as advised by my dr, no acidic/spicy/oily food and no coffee/tea/chocolate/mint. I also had an ultrasoundndone on my stomach, liver and digestive tract as well as a full blood test, thyroid was found to be normal.
Avatar n tn Can my mom take 40 mg of pantoprazole instead of 20 mg of teva-rabeprazole because she is out of teva-rabeprazole. It is extremely dangerous to substitute one drug for another. Your mom needs to go back to the doctor who prescribed her the teva-rabeprazole and tell him or her that her prescription is finished. The other drug you're asking if your mother should take i.e. the pantoprazole is also twice the amount of the other.
Avatar m tn So I made an appointment for endoscopy in Bangkok and indeed I was diagnosed with reflux and small hiatal hernia. I got prescribed Periet (which I think is rabeprazole) and while it did help with lump feeling in throat it didn't help much with breathing. However, recently I discovered a generic version of omeprazole which when I take in the morning it does help with my breathing. However, when I take it for longer than 3-4 days, my breathing starts to be bad again.
709686 tn?1277432159 Esomeprazole (Nexium) is slightly different than omeprazole (Prilosec). But your body could react the same way. You could try a small amount and see. There are some combo otc drugs by Rolaids and others that have an antacid and famotidine (acid reducer). Those probably don't work as well.
Avatar f tn Hi, There are only 5 proton pump inhibitors available. Omeprazole(prilosec), lansoprazole (prevacid), pantoprazole (protonix), rabeprazole( aciphaex) and esomeprazole(Nexium). All are of same efficacy. If there is no response to one, switching to another might be helpful. Get your doctor's opinion before changing the medications. ================================================================ The information provided is for patients’ education only and is not a medical advice.

Avatar n tn Mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate, not baking powder) in an 8 ounce glass and drink it. If sufficient quantities of acid are present in the stomach, bicarbonate of soda is converted into gas, producing significant bloating and belching within 5 or 10 minutes of drinking the mix. Little or no belching is suspicious for low stomach acid.
Avatar m tn http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/barretts/index.htm Please discuss with your doctor about trying a combination of medication. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/barretts/index.ht I am making one such suggestion which you can follow and see. Omeprazole is a good drug to combat this. Along with it you can try over the counter antacids. Avoid heavy meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed or raise pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food.
Avatar n tn thanks so much for the help. i went back to the hospital and did gastroscope test which shows that my stomach had some wounds. the doctor gave me RABEPRAZOLE SODIUM ENTRIC-COATED CAPSULE. I'm feeling fine now. thanks alot. Its not easy for us the foreigners here in China as far as medico is concern.
Avatar m tn I saw the doctor a few times and he put me as GERD and aeroflagia and prescribed Pariet 20 mg (rabeprazole sodium) and I am bit better but just lying on my side in bed (carpet or futon is no problem) is enough to bring up the gases. I had intense noticeable heart beats sometimes before treatment- now lying on my side gives me noticeable heart beats but its not really unpleasant.
Avatar f tn I've been on 40mg omeprazole once daily for a little over a week now. I had a gastroscopy a couple of weeks ago and my GI doctor says I have gastritis. The only symptom I have (for upper GI stuff anyway) is mild chest pain usually after eating. The last few days I have been noticing the chest pain more often, especially when I burp. It's on the left side side of my sternum (just next to my left breast).
