Avatar f tn Hi there, Emergency contraception is almost 80-85% effective if taken between 24-48 hours and 50-55% effective if taken between 48-72 hours.Headache, dizziness, breast tenderness and vaginal bleeding are the common side effects of taking emergency contraceptive pills. A few women may experience light bleeding in the days after taking Postinor-2. This is not a normal period and is nothing to worry about. If the bleeding is persistent or severe consult a gynecologist. Hope it helps.
Avatar n tn You have to weigh the benefit of the drug against the side effects. PPIs have also been known to intefere with absorbtion of B12 and other vitamins.
Avatar f tn s messed up because you took multiple doses of the emergency contraceptive. If you check out the side effects from it it tells you what it can do. The side effects include (but are not limited to) nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, abdominal cramping, headache, backache, spotting, irregular bleeding, and your cycle could come earlier/later than normal and be heavier/lighter than normal.
1129232 tn?1360800358 anyone taking progesterone suppositiories get side effects? i was fine the first couple of days but now i'm feeling lethargic, extreme fatigue, always hungry and a little bit of off and on nausea. AT first i was thinking - could this be pregnancy symptoms already but i think it's probably from the progesterone. UGH! this is awful.
Avatar n tn Lexapro is actually helping me in curing my disease however the side effects are worrying me alot. I am now on 40 mg dose of rabeprazole and 10mg of Lexapro. Is the use of lexapro causing this ulcer related symptoms? Can i reduce the dosage of lexapro to 5 mg by breaking the tablet into 2 ?
Avatar n tn i took it to be on the safe side also recommended by a nurse that i take it to be sure, but i am getting ovulation pains that i would get every month, although im pretty sure they ARE ovulation pains im not 100% certain. just wanted to be sure as i took EC on the 14th day of my cycle and i thought it was suppost to delay ovulation.
Avatar n tn I really don't think there are any contraceptives without side effects other than abstinence and condoms. I've been on 3 different forms of birth control in my life and all have their own side effects, but unless you're really sensitive, none are that bad.
Avatar f tn Hi! Yes, the morning after pill has plenty of side effects. Emergency contraceptives are a big dose of hormones which is how they work. But then those hormones are in her system and her body has to deal with them. Irregular bleeding for 2 to 3 moths is to be expected. She can take a pregnancy test to make sure she isn't pregnant but this sounds like normal EC side effects to me.
Avatar m tn Wait at least two weeks and test with first morning urine. Keep in mind the side effects caused by EC as well. These can included spotting, a more light/heavy period, missed period, abdominal pain, cramping, sore breasts and fatigue. Also, unless you know this person well and know 150% they're clean, it wouldn't hurt to make sure they don't have any STDs.
Avatar n tn Immediatedly after that i took an Emergency contraceptive pill, i didnt have any side effects of it but after a week or two, my periods started again, they ha occured in the starting of the month, i also suffer from PCO. Problem is am going for an ultrasound and blood test tomorrow,nd am afraid if am pregnant.. i dont want my parents to know, second which i fear is that if i have traces of contraceptive pill found in my blood sample , it could create a problem for me.
Avatar n tn Can my mom take 40 mg of pantoprazole instead of 20 mg of teva-rabeprazole because she is out of teva-rabeprazole. It is extremely dangerous to substitute one drug for another. Your mom needs to go back to the doctor who prescribed her the teva-rabeprazole and tell him or her that her prescription is finished. The other drug you're asking if your mother should take i.e. the pantoprazole is also twice the amount of the other.
Avatar f tn Could I be pregnant or could these be side effects? has anyone had negative tests and still turning out to be pregnant?
874116 tn?1240368959 You should never use EC the way you did. Its meant for emergencies....like a condom breaking or if you found yourself unexpectedly having intercourse you did not plan on. If you want a break from the pill in the future, use contraceptive foam and condoms. Never use EC. Its not 100% effective--more like 60-70%, depending on when and how you take it. If you keep taking it as you were doing, you're bound to end up pregnant at some point.
Avatar m tn The weird side effects continued and new side effects emerged such as white hair,. hair falling out, weight loss,. muscle soreness,. stomach pain, and runny nose. I complained about this again and finally after 3 months, the doc switched the medication to a different PPI. I still had side effects so then I was switched to an H2 blocker. I have been off all PPIs and h2 blockers for 4 months but im left with side effects that I have no idea how to get rid of.
Avatar m tn Emergency contraception pills are around 98-99% effective if taken within the first day. So she should be fine. I will warn you, and have you warn her, they can have nasty side effects. Don't be alarmed if she has cramps, nausea, dizziness, headaches, bloating, fatigue, bowel irregularities, is late on her period, spots randomly, has an excessively long period, or has appetite change.

Avatar f tn Can i get pregnant? Do i have to take the emergency pill?
Avatar m tn EC can cause a few problems in a female, and usually will completely mess her cycle up. It's not a surprise that she missed hers. One of the side effects is irregular bleeding. It's not likely she would be pregnant, and there was no need for the pill she took--it's likely caused more harm than it did good. I personally would not worry about it. In the future, make sure you're using condoms anytime you decide to have any sexual acts or abstain completely.
Avatar f tn No personal experience here but you know that not everyone experiences the same side effects from any drug. If the only problem you have after Chemo is a "feeling" then you can consider yourself VERY lucky indeed. Perhaps if there is a support group in your area, that might help. Sharing experiences with others can be very beneficial. You might ask at the Oncologist's office or call your local Hospital. Regards ...
Avatar m tn ENT did a scope of throat, said it was inflammed and swollen and suspected LPR, gave me a different PPI rabeprazole and took it for 2 weeks. Still no improvement, having throat pain only on right side. Then gastro doctor did a 24hr pH monitoring test, mannometry test and barium test on me, I was off all PPI and stomach meds for 3 weeks before doing the 24hr test. Test result came back negative for acid reflux or hyperacidity.

Avatar f tn re worried call you obgyn in the morning and ask to speak to a nurse. Did you read the info that came with the plan b? It will explain side effects. Any time you put your body through an unnatural experience there are bound to be side effects.
Avatar n tn Abdominal pain, back pain, dizziness, fatigue, gas, headache, indigestion, nausea, pain, respiratory infection, vomiting Grapefruit juice can increase the amount of Entocort EC in your blood stream. Do not drink grapefruit juice during your course of therapy with Entocort EC.
Avatar f tn I asked planned parenthood and they seem to think it is normal side effects of my birth control.
1806721 tn?1554333407 Hi...both meds are PPI's and work the same...getting off either needs to be done with the help of ur Dr, u need to step off slowly ot avoid the rebound effect of this med. PPI's stop production of the acids, when u stop taking the meds, it flips the on switch and many times our system makes too much all at once and we feel the same as we did b4....this is y it is very important to slowly step off these meds and know u may have some GERD until ur body adjusts.
