Common Questions and Answers about Quit smoking effects timeline

smoking

Avatar f tn I would say you know your limit to what you can handle, you have to be mentally prepared to quit, have good support around you and then go from there, i know there are moms who quit cold turkey and managed fine, i know couples who quit together and same thing, i also know moms who cut back then quit, they gave themselves a certain timeline and stuck to it... if you feel stong enough to quit cold turkey it is up to you, but either way the sooner the better!
Avatar f tn In 2007, I quit smoking cold turkey. I woke up one morning and said "that's it." I know I'm one of the rare cases that just did it, so I'm hoping quitting pills will be a similar experience. One of the things that helped me was the timeline of how my body was recovering from quitting smoking. Does anyone know of a similar timeline for quitting opiates, specifically hydrocodone? I know it depends on age, dose, and how long using, but a generalized timeline would be great.
Avatar f tn What are the side effects of smoking when pregnant? Did any of u girls smoke when u were pregnant? I'm 16 weeks and trying to quit but it a lot harder than I thought .
Avatar f tn I still continued to smoke for a couple of days, but only a couple of puffs from my husbands cigarette 2-3 times a day, then I looked online about the effects off smoking whilst pregnant and quit straight away! There are times when I would like a cigarette but I care for my unborn baby a million times more than a dirty fag! Honestly the best thing you can do is quit, every time you smoke your babies tiny heartbeat has to beat extremely fast as it struggles for oxygen!
Avatar f tn So I know this woman who is about as far along as I am (34weeks), and she smokes at least a cigarette everyday, and has been throughout her entire pregnancy. She told me it was because her doctor said that of she "quit cold turkey" that it could have negative effects on the baby because of with drawels, though she had plenty of time to quit by now. Is this true?? What do you guys think??

Avatar n tn Who knows? Marijuana brings out what's already inside us, so if this was something waiting to come out, well, it's here. But you could just be suffering a long high; marijuana is very strong these days and sometimes if you smoke a lot the high can last a while.

Avatar f tn I'm fifteen weeks pregnant now. And for the past two weeks I could no longer resist the temptation of smoking due to stress. I've been smoking about two to three sticks a day and I feel really guilty about it. What should I do?
Avatar f tn s more harm to the baby. I quit smoking when I found out, but my doctor did tell me that if you want to quit you should slowly get yourself off of them.
Avatar f tn I was a smoker and stopped straight away i dont even crave anymore and i do feel a lot better for it although ive got to admit i have to watch what i eat as at first i think i ate to give me something to do lol. I googled what effects smoking has on a baby and that was enough to put me off straight away. Im not saying its not going to be hard especially if you have smokers around you but id also ask them to refrain from smoking anywhere near you.
Avatar f tn I wanna quit smoking but here is my problem, i like it to much. I'm 22 years old and i have been smoking since i was 15 and i never even thought of quitting. now i have an education that if i want to work in that particular field i will need to quit. but i like smoking so much i don't want to quit but i have to quit. going into an interview smelling like body spray and a hint of cigarette isn't the best way to get a job.
Avatar f tn E cigarettes and legal smoking blends are quite potent and handy in quitting smoking. These have same effects but are safe.
Avatar f tn Actually, you can quit smoking totally with the help of laser acupuncture. This is a safe method and pain free (does not involve needles, hypnotherapy or drugs). A laser light is used to stimulate the acupuncture points on the body to reduce stress and anxiety, cravings and regulate hormone levels.
Avatar f tn That is a fact, its not like that happens to only some babies, its every baby every pregnancy with anyone who smokes. So that is what made my mother strong enough to quit smoking with 3 pregnancies, she stopped a couple months before she fell pregnant because they were TTC. It's what COULD happen that matters, not what didn't happen to a friends pregnancy and baby. Stay strong all you mommies who are quitting!
Avatar f tn ve only smoked a couple of cigarettes and you can reverse the effects if you quit. Good for you for being concerned about it! Be tough and stop smoking now!
Avatar f tn I quit smoking almost 2 wks now( withone night of smoking about a week ago). I'm not having cravings for a smoke, but i feel like I'm having an allergic reaction to something. Tightness of chest, sometimes its hard to breath, and sometimes I feel like I'm having a tiny panic attack. Is this normal and how long will this last.
Avatar f tn Of course smoking is bad for your baby and you. The ill effects of smoking have been known for a while. A long while.
Avatar f tn Smoking anything reduces the amount of oxygen reaching baby. I quit a pack a day habit as soon as I knew I was pregnant. I figure it's better to be safe rather than sorry.

Avatar f tn When you say "the pill" to quit smoking, do you mean Chantix? I used it to quit 5 yrs ago and had no trouble with it, at all; however, my husband started on it, then read the possible side effects, got scared and quit taking it. I have not had a cigarette for 5 yrs, he still smokes. Keep in mind the side effects are not inevitable; some people get them, some don't. The drawback to Chantix is that it's expensive and is not covered by insurance......
Avatar f tn I was a smoker before I got pregnant and the day I found out and looked at that pregnancy test I never smoked again. Yes, you will always have cravings, but I'm sorry I think its wrong for people to smoke while they are pregnant and even breastfeeding. I don't judge anyone, I understand what its like to want and need to have a cigarette. But honestly its not hard to quit, all you gotta do is think about your beautiful baby being healthy and that's all that you need.
