Avatar f tn Chest pain is not a known side-effect of diovan/hctz. Given the fact that he had a recent bypass I would urge you to take him to the ER ASAP.

First of I'm 22 years of age, male about 6'2 kinda muscular 228 pounds, and pretty active. I've been diagnosed with hypertension and was put on losartan 50mg/hctz 12.5mg by my cardiologist when my blood pressure was running about 150-160/80-90 consistantly about 2 months ago.

Avatar m tn She is showing remarkable fluid retention in the lower extremities which I am treating with Bumex 1mg BID and HCTZ 12.5mg QD. I am struggling to decide if surgery is the best option or if I should just continue to treat the symptoms with medication. She seems to be able to tolerate anesthesia fairly well, as she just had a R shoulder rotator cuff repair performed in January. I am having difficulty determining if the risks of surgery out way the benefits.
Avatar m tn I'm not sure I've had the same question myself, would love to know the answer. My nurse told me the digital ones can hear with better accuracy than the doctor can. I have also heard the manual ones are more accurate so idk. I have hypertension as well I'm 22 and pretty active and normal weight mine runs about 150/80 but manuals sometimes give me in the 130's/80 I'm currently takin Bp meds (losartan 50mg/Hctz 12.
Avatar m tn Went to doctor first thing in the morning; readings were 170/100. He perscribed Lisinopril-HCTZ 20 / 12.5mg tablets. We purchased a home blood pressure monitor, our readings were similar to doctors 2 hours later, at 165/105. Blood pressure dropped very quickly since then, 125/85 last night, and 115/78 this morning. Is this normal? I have a hard time believing the medication acted this quickly. It seems more like a one-off event, (i.e. some other cause for high blood pressure).
Avatar f tn I had a problem before with Potassium loss from HCTZ. I was taken off of it when I went to the emergency ward, for certain symptons. My pressure is fine now unless Im in a Dr.s office. .... Now I take Fosinopril 40 and Verapamil 80 twice a day which is working perfectly.. The last docter wanted to try me on HCTZ once more telling me to drink alot of orange juice. After a month of taking it he realized I dont need them. My pressure goes up with anxiety of docters.
Avatar f tn Went to Doctor on Wednesday. I've been lactating and suspect pregnancy but maybe not. Dr. put me on HCTZ for fluid retention cause I've gained 20 lbs since January and also did lab work to see if pregnant and check my hormones to see if I'm not pregnant why I would be lactating. Got a call Friday- she said I'm pregnant- stop taking HCTZ. I had already made an appointment with my other Dr.
Avatar m tn There are no identifiable triggers. I take omeprazole 20mg daily; hctz 12.5mg daily (not HTN but for fluid retention) and a probiotic daily. My weight had previously been around 123lbs and dropped as low as 114lbs and is now back to 118. The only was I can describe these symptoms is it feels like an intense adrenaline surge in my gut almost like being startled but it lasts for hours without relent. Anti emetics have been completely ineffective.
Avatar m tn Have been on amlodipine and quinapril for about 6-7 years as well as other meds. My blood tests came back fine except for my RDW which is elevated. My NT-ProBNP was only at 6 pmol/L so very low. The Cardiologist immediately ruled out coronary disease - he said I was too young (40yrs old). Said it could be Atypical Angina that was causing the chest pain but no way to test accurately due to my age and said he he could not tell me it wasn't PAH.
Avatar m tn has him on Diclofenac 75mg 2 per day, Hydralazine 25mg 3 per day, Lovastatin 40mg 1 tab at bed time, Gabapentin 800mg 4 per day, Carvedilol 12.5mg 2 per day, Omeprazole 20mg 1 per day, Furosemide 80mg 1 per day, Ferrous Sulfate 325mg 1 per day, Quinapril 40mg 1 per day, Hydroco/apap tab 10 mg 6 per day, asprin 81 mg 1 per day, Clonazepam 0.5mg 3 per day. He doesnt eat much and he has alot of trouble going to the bathroom the other way.
Avatar m tn my systolic was high in the office. I am hypertensive, I take 10mg Ramipril and he put me on 12.5mg of HCTZ. Recently, I started experiencing dizziness during exercise (slow jogging), not spinning but a loopy feeling. So I was told to come in for another stress test. I took it today. A different cardiologist was attending. He stopped the test when he saw ST depressions when I stood up to get on the treadmill, I was nervous and they went away.
Avatar m tn and i cannot loose weight, I have gained 20 lobs after taking the hctz for a year or more. Not matter how little I eat or how much i exercise I gain. I have tried stopping the hctz and then my bp shoot up. Help!!!
Avatar m tn Showed mild RAE and Moderate LAE and my RV was upper limits of normal. Have been on amlodipine and quinapril for about 6-7 years as well as other meds. Avatar m tn I told him that my diastolic sometimes reads high, and my systolic was high in the office, so he put me on 12.5mg of HCTZ, wants me back in 30 with blood chemistry. Yesterday I was walking vigorously: HR was around 135, bp was 175/101 after I stopped, I felt very anxious. Is narrow complex tachycardia equivalent to SVT? If so why didn't he mention it, is it normal for exercising?
Avatar m tn I have had a strong head pluse in the back of my head and temples for about 2 months now. I'm taking blood pressure medication (losarton 50mg/hctz 12.5mg) and its been running about 135/75. The pulse in my head gets string and times turns into a headache. It starts about at my hairline and run up both sides to my scalp. Avatar n tn I am taking HCTZ for about 16 days but after 12 days it is causing me chest pain off and on. It starts after 2 hours of taking the tablet and prolongs for another six hours. Can somebody help me on this. My doctor says it doesn't happen with HCTZ. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I'm a 60 year old female taking Lotrel 5/20 and 25 mg Spironolactone for hypertension. (I started on HCTZ, however, after 3 months I developed a vascular rash on my arms which my doctor said was a reaction to the HCTZ and the sun so he switched me to Spironolactone). My BP has come down too low....I was getting readings of 98/58...so my doctor told me to take the Spironolactone only 2X per week.

Avatar m tn I have been on cozaar for 15 years. 4 years ago I was also placed on HCTZ, due to increasing BP. 7 weeks ago, after getting quarterly labs done, my PCP said my calcium was too high and took me off the HCTZ. She also said my TSH levels were high and placed me on synthroid. Last week I had office visit and my BP was 150/90. My doctor then put me on metaprolol. I started getting headaches every day. My BP remained at 150 to 160 over 90 to 100.
Avatar f tn I've been lactating and wasn't sure if I was pregnant. My doctor did a blood test to see if I was and also did a hormone test to see why I was lactating if by chance I wasn't pregnant. Also at that visit she put me on hctz because I've been retaining water and wanted me to take it every other day. She called yesterday morning to let me know that I am in fact pregnant, this was after I had just taken the hctz. She of course toldme not to take it anymore..
Avatar n tn I am a 43 year old hypopara patient. I used HCTZ for 10 years to control my blood calcium. Last year, I got one morning and my heart rate when up to 128. My endo took me off HCTZ and my internal put me on Lopressor. I contued having a high heart rate after HCTZ was out of my system. This year, I was put back on HCTZ due to high urine calcium content but I could not tolerate the drug at all.
