accupril

Avatar n tn I am taking Quinapril and atenolol and one asprian a day I had open heart surgery in 1999 I never really had high blood pressure but my doctor said this was the normal for heart patients. I feel very tired all the time and have had some kind of chest pain that doesn't show any problems have had resent angio and stress test is ther mabe a better med.
Avatar m tn Have been on amlodipine and quinapril for about 6-7 years as well as other meds. My blood tests came back fine except for my RDW which is elevated. My NT-ProBNP was only at 6 pmol/L so very low. The Cardiologist immediately ruled out coronary disease - he said I was too young (40yrs old). Said it could be Atypical Angina that was causing the chest pain but no way to test accurately due to my age and said he he could not tell me it wasn't PAH.
Avatar m tn Showed mild RAE and Moderate LAE and my RV was upper limits of normal. Have been on amlodipine and quinapril for about 6-7 years as well as other meds. My blood tests came back fine except for my RDW which is elevated. My NT-ProBNP was only at 6 pmol/L so very low. The Cardiologist immediately ruled out coronary disease - he said I was too young (40yrs old).
Avatar n tn I've always had low pottassium and always had to eat a banana everyday. I also have Graves Disease, had hyperthyroidism and had RAI (radioactive iodine) then a Thyroidectomy. I never associated the two. I thought my low pottassium was from heart issues being born with a heart murmur. Maybe it does both fall together. Just get on the bananas and take a pottasium supplement everyday until the levels increase.
Avatar n tn They have a much higher amount of potassium (99mg is the minimum daily requirement). I had terrible leg cramps and started eating a couple bananas a day and snacking on raisins, and I rarely get them anymore.
Avatar n tn It does not specify which side effects are from potassium being too high and which are associated with it being too low, but you could certainly google "potassium too high" and get some good information.
Avatar f tn Last year I had NO potassium and ended up in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for five days. The shots are very painful but they do have potassium pills. I think they give you the pills after they have gotten some measure of potassium back into you. Please be extremely careful about this.
Avatar f tn blood test they said the urine came back fine but I had to go back a week later for my blood resaults so I go back kidneys and all came back good except my potassium it was 7.5.
Avatar n tn ve been browsing internet sites to gather information and saw that there is a link between high potassium levels and thyroid problems. My initial thyroid blood tests came up normal, TSH 1.47, T4Free 0.95 and T3,Free 312. my thyroglobulin antibodies were slightly high, at 21 and thyroid peroxidase antibodies were less than 10. The next blood labs, done in the hospital, were TSH .69, free T$ 0.74 and "normal" thyroid gland antibodies.
437036 tn?1225284804 Mornin' Toots, Many folks have more than one "issue" in the mix. I think you will find, if you browse through some of the posts here, that you are not alone. I'm no expert and certainly do NOT possess a medical degree and more than likely am wrong, but it's my GUESS that a person with OCD may not have any anxiety problems. They probably don't like washing their hands a million times a day or checking that they turned the oven off......
Avatar m tn Sorry can't help on the question about potassium and its relationship to hemoglobin. I know iron usually raises hemoglobin, but high iron isn't always good for the liver, either... maybe for the time being adding just a little more iron-rich food to your diet (red meat, broccoli, dark greens, etc.) to give you a little hgb boost? Hopefully someone who's better at the biochemistry will pop in. I know you must feel crummy...!
Avatar f tn Potassium is a chemical element and it is part of the electrolyte that should be in balance with other lytes to adequately conduct an electrical impulse that originates with the sinus node in the right atrium. The mechanism of action is not completely understood, but what is when a voltage (unit of potential for conduction) and electrolyte there will conduction and passage of electrical impluses.
Avatar f tn That did help but now I am wondering if I am taking too much potassium. I starting concentrating on foods with potassium such as bananas and also increased my supplement to two a day instead of one. Now, lately, on top of the fatigue I was already having (from other issues?) I have been feeling swimmy-headed and having a lot of headaches as well as increased feeling of exhaustion. I am wondering if I am taking in too much potassium now.
Avatar m tn I am thinking of holding off, telling my doctor what my resting pulse and bp is (I already take quinapril, 5mg per day). I have business travel coming up over several weeks and I think I will ask for a 30 day heart monitor test. I wonder how a 24 hour holter shows "normal" but now the doctor wants me on toprol? He said I can continue swimming but my performance won't be as good. And that I might have to drop quinapril if my bp goes too low. I will be taking 30mg (the lowest dose).
431644 tn?1236899573 I got a call from dr have to take potassium for 3 days. Mine was 3.1 and normal is 3.4. The MCHC was high also. Went to walmart with hub lastnight and couldn't breath and shook all over heart racing and then finally stopped. Then came home and did it gain at bedtime. Always at bedtime it seems for me or mornings. Weird.......
Avatar m tn My BP spiked at one point due to my panic attack of a diagnosis of hypertensive heart disease, and then I was put on quinapril. Months since, I feel great. Joint pain about gone, much improved digestion. TSH measured 1.83 in November. Blood pressure under control. I am an avid fitness swimmer and swim seven or eight miles a week. I run too. My latest cholesterol level measures 235.
Avatar n tn I had hyperthyroidism (had a PT), and I had low potassium; I still do. I eat a lot of bananas and apples, but the endo wants me to take potassium supplements as well. It seems to me it has to do with the thyroid, but getting an answer from the endo on it seems to be impossible!
1546132 tn?1293633801 The low levels of potassium could explain the blood pressure elevations and leg cramps. How does high iron levels affect potassium uptake/levels? Any help much appreciated!
Avatar f tn By the way, an overdose of insulin depletes potassium, and guess what? Ocasionally causes a siezure.
Avatar n tn s office that keep coming up abnormal and I had been feeling bad few days before. My EKG was fine and my potassium was low. The Doc said I probably had a bout of SVT and sent me home with a few days of potassium pills. That was a week and half ago. The last two night I have had a racing heart (tachy 100 or bpm lying down) and feel very fatigued. I have a cardiologist appointment in six days but am concerned about this tachy at night.
Avatar f tn Okay, so now I have a couple of good days and then I'm tired and achey again. By the way, I've started eating a banana a day and I find my aches are lessening. Can anyone expand on their experience with Potassium levels?
582618 tn?1218411851 The patient continued to drink the juice despite warnings that it may contain potassium and at his next visit, potassium remained elevated. The patient insisted that he would never stop drinking the juice and said the doctors ``did not understand the power of noni juice,'' according to the report. The patient never returned to the clinic. The doctors purchased a bottle of noni juice from a health food store and had it analyzed in a lab.
Avatar m tn I have had UC for 20+ years and have managed the disease with diet and exercise (8 times on prednisone and tpn once). Basically symptom free except very loose stools once per day. All this being said I just started noticing skipped heart beats. I called up my Cardiologist buddy and he said it sounds like PVC. PVS's have a link to potassium/magnesium/calcium imbalances.
422425 tn?1307992990 I am on a prescribed Potassium tablet morning and night plus the lasix, spironolactone and Diovan for my high BP. Needless to say I spend a lot of time in the lav.
1090423 tn?1286287650 Were there diagnostic tests done in the past? You need to have imaging studies and blood tests including serum potassium to check on your potassium levels also. Have this checked by your doctor or have another doctor's opinion if you are not comfortable with your previous doctor's management. Take care and do keep us posted.
