Avatar m tn Have been on amlodipine and quinapril for about 6-7 years as well as other meds. My blood tests came back fine except for my RDW which is elevated. My NT-ProBNP was only at 6 pmol/L so very low. The Cardiologist immediately ruled out coronary disease - he said I was too young (40yrs old). Said it could be Atypical Angina that was causing the chest pain but no way to test accurately due to my age and said he he could not tell me it wasn't PAH.

391561 tn?1227047215 I have been on coreg and accupril for going on 5 months now, and was hoping that my heart would have begun to reshape itself somewhat by now. My particular concern, among many, is the abnormal arrythmias which I believe this LV enlargement is causing. Shouldn't there be some improvement by now? Any insight would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I had been getting headaches off and on 2-3 days before everything, and put it off as being my sinuses due to being in the heat. I was put back on Accupril 10mg for the blood pressure, and a month later my bp was stable 120/80 or less, althought my heart rate stayed high usually around 120 even when resting.
255738 tn?1230233362 Subtracting diastole number from systole number is medically referred to as pulse pressure. Normal is 20 and a pulse pressure greater than 60 seems to indicate CAD. Pulse pressure: "The up and down fluctuation of the arterial pressure results from the pulsatile nature of the cardiac output, i.e. the heartbeat. The pulse pressure is determined by the interaction of the stroke volume of the heart, compliance (ability to expand) of the aorta, and the resistance to flow in the arterial tree.
Avatar n tn I am an RN and my boyfriend has been type I diabetic for 28 years, having had better control for the las 5 years with an insulin pump. His BP is controlled, He's been on Accupril 40mg daily for approx 7 yrs. Hgb A1-c is 7.4. His kidney function test have been ok except for his latest BUN/CREAT ratio result of 29(the lab using 6-25 for norm). Should we be worrying, contacting a renal specialist and is there anything else other than tighter BS control and sodium intake that we can do?
391561 tn?1227047215 Coreg 25 x2, and accupril (ace inhibitor). Latest echo shows no improvement of ejection fraction. Still 24 % after 8 months on meds. Anyone have any opinion as to chances of any improvement from meds at this point? LV has reduced moderately from 6.94. I believe my heart suffered damage from serious auto accident (BFT). I was hoping for signs of an improvement.
Avatar n tn Dr that did heart cath wanted me to start Linsopril ace inhibitor but several years ago I tried accupril and had partial swellin on my face so I was afraid to try another ace inhibitor but now I wonder if I should have. The cardiologist I first saw put me on Atenolol, Isosorbide and nitroquick. I was using between 4 and up to 10 nitros a day with these other meds so he added Ranexa. I worry because I have family history of cancer and I have a fatty liver.
Avatar m tn my cholesterol is under control and at decent levels My blood pressure was borderline high in the past and I have been taking quinapril for a while now. (max dose). My blood pressure was better at ~ 120/90. I also take bupropion xl and was taking olanzipine. I have stopped the olanzapine, after long term use. Coming off the olanzapine, I have had more anxiety and more emotion, and have not slept very well. After stopping olanzapine, my BP was checked and was now high again at 148/110.
Avatar m tn I am thinking of holding off, telling my doctor what my resting pulse and bp is (I already take quinapril, 5mg per day). I have business travel coming up over several weeks and I think I will ask for a 30 day heart monitor test. I wonder how a 24 hour holter shows "normal" but now the doctor wants me on toprol? He said I can continue swimming but my performance won't be as good. And that I might have to drop quinapril if my bp goes too low. I will be taking 30mg (the lowest dose).
Avatar m tn Hi, I have been on Levothyroxine since July 2011, 50 MCG daily, also 5mg quinapril daily since then. I was under the impression that synthroid improves cholesterol levels. My doctor told me. He also recommended fish two or three times a week, and lamb otherwise. I eat red meat once or twice a week and salmon three times. Physically, you would not think I need to be on these meds. I am thin and athletic, a swimmer's body. I work out six days a week.
Avatar m tn 5mg 2 per day, Omeprazole 20mg 1 per day, Furosemide 80mg 1 per day, Ferrous Sulfate 325mg 1 per day, Quinapril 40mg 1 per day, Hydroco/apap tab 10 mg 6 per day, asprin 81 mg 1 per day, Clonazepam 0.5mg 3 per day. He doesnt eat much and he has alot of trouble going to the bathroom the other way.
Avatar f tn I had been taking Ramipril for years. Went to a new Dr. who changed me to Quinapril twice a day because he said it was better for kidneys and added Metoprolol ER 50mg / day because my pulse was always around 90. My BP was usually 120 / 80 with the Ramipril. It's now down to 105 / 65 and my pulse is down to 70. BUT I can't stand how gassy the Metoprolol makes me. I am walking around passing gas all day without being able to control it.
Avatar n tn I am told I need one ASAP, but still unsure if it is for hypokinesis or the fact that I have arrhythmias ( MANY PVCs, Vtach, and SVTs). Reason I ask is if my meds (coreg, accupril, spirinolactone, simvatatin) raise my EF (down around 15-20% presently), is it possible that there may be no need for ICD in say, 3-5 yrs? Well, that's again. Truly admire your insightfulness and helping others. And CONGRADS on your success ! Glad to hear ..
Avatar m tn My D3 level went back up to normal. Meanwhile (long story) I had to go on low dose quinapril, the first time on BP medicine. While the doctor advised me on D3 I asked him for a thyroid blood test. A month later on my next visit he said I have to go on thyroid medication. I have the paper showing my TSH at 7.5. I did not look into the details. He said he will prescribe the lowest dose of thyroid medication for me and that I must see him in November for another blood test to check the levels.
430837 tn?1203969349 5 or 6 years ago it was caught on a EKG. I was put on Toprol XL ( I am also on Accupril for high blood pressure, Diltiazem for esophogeal spasms, Lipitor for high cholesterol, Metformin for Diabetes). The irregular rhythm has become increasingly common and causes dizziness, numbness in the limbs, neck, shoulder and face, chest pain that radiates to the neck and jawline and continuous head rushes.
391561 tn?1227047215 Hi. I had an extremely strange experience yesterday during a cardiac dr visit. Anyone familar with my condition, I apologize in advance for it's repetitiveness, but feel a full explanation needed for complete understanding. I was made aware of my heart condition back in Dec when I went to ER with a bad gall bladder. The blood tests showed my BNP to be 1072 (extreme heart failure range) and my EKG was terrible.
Avatar m tn The angioedema to lips is concerning. Do take ACE-inhibitor such as lisinopril or accupril? Do you have a dry cough with this? Could be a reaction to ACE-inhibitors.
215461 tn?1331862765 on that lately because I take so many meds now (accupril and HCTZ for blood pressure, celebrex for osteoarthritis in addition to the Synthroid. Glad I found this forum! Good to know I am not going crazy by myself!
Avatar n tn I too am swelling in the Barcelona heat. I've had diabetes for over 20 years now. Got on a pump 3 years ago. Find that the swelling coincided with academia. When I spend more than 2 hours sitting (legs UN crossed) I tend to swell. I am also questioning liquid intake. My aunt just had pancreatitis and retained 40 lbs of liquid they had pumped into her intravenously. I have been told that drinking lots of water is good for the body, yet find when I do, I swell. Hmmm.
Avatar m tn So the old cardiologist sold his practice and a new guy took over. I started seeing him. He put me on quinapril. He said it could be caused by something other then stress and stuff. He actually listened to me and Gave me lots of info. He wanted me off the beta blocker because he said its over prescribed and doesn't help fix issues just masks them. So it took me until this month this year to get off of the beta blocker.
Avatar f tn m on, which has been between 1 and 5 different HTN meds during this time- Currently on 4 different B/P meds (Accupril, Norvasc , HCTZ, and Metoprolol (Lopressor)... Current B/P range= 150-180 syst over 76-96. (Doctors well aware) Pulse on beta blockers 60-80's (currently closer to 90)- Pulse prior to beta-blockers- high 80's to 120. OTHER TESTS- Summary, since I'm really too tired right now to complete post..
Avatar n tn Yes, when I was released from hospital I was given follow-up with new cardiologist and have ABSOLUTELY no plans of going back to my old one. My med regimen is; Coreg (Beta-blocker. Disheartened by eventual side affects), accupril (ace inhibitor), spironolactone (diuretic), and simvastin ( for cholesterol- even though mine has always been fine in the 170 range). I am told I need the ICD imediately, so... ( evidently with all I have gong on, at risk of V-fib).
