Quetiapine what does it do

Common Questions and Answers about Quetiapine what does it do

seroquel

Avatar f tn Hi! I'm just trying to do some research for my friend ... She's been on Quetiapine (an atypical antipsychotic) for about 2yrs, but previous to this she was diagnosed with borderline hypothyroidism. Suddenly, she has fallen really ill and blood tests have confirmed minor hypothyroidism (T3 levels around 9)... but the symptoms look like hyper!
1052851 tn?1307741160 Some people may not have it and some people may experience it, it is really all individualistic and how well a person can tolerate it. If you are fine on quetiapine and do not like how you feel on Zeldox—you should stay on quetiapine and talk to your doctor & he may have options on what to do about the unwanted weight gain.
1052851 tn?1307741160 I tried taking Zeldox, as I gained a lot of weight from the Quetiapine, but the Dr. made it an add on and kept me on the Quetiapine as well. I had very bad side effects, and got off the Zeldox immediately. I told my doctor about it, and she changed the Zeldox, which was 80mg daily to Abilify, which I take 10mg in the morning and 10mg at noon. Will this add on assist with the weight gain? How does Abilify affect the Quetiapine?
Avatar m tn I googled the quetiapine. tachycardia side effect seems fairly low for it, but there is a bit above placebo.
Avatar m tn Interesting. Over here (USA), Seroquel is actually frequently prescribed and ok for bipolar disorder when someone is really manic due to its side effect of making someone drowsy (if not more reasons); I have never had someone who was bipolar II say they were on it. Lamictal is also frequently prescribed despite the fact it is a seizure medication. I was given a reason back when I was on it but I can't recall what it was. I didn't bat a lash at the meds because of that.

Avatar m tn I was prescribed tramadol for pain do to an injury and I take citalopram and quetiapine for depression. I also have emphysema and use advair.
644988 tn?1236364548 If you could tell me when it started and what you think brought it on I might have ideas on what it might be. And if its drug related, regardless of what kind of drug, a consultation to a neurologist is certainly warranted.
Avatar f tn Who prescribed the quetiapine? If it was a counselor or therapist, what kind of help does he or she suggest, and is he or she any help? You are totally within your rights to find a new doctor if not. Also, get going on an exercise regime. It can do wonders for emotional issues. No matter what has happened to you in life, you still have a choice about the person you turn out to be.
Avatar f tn What is the lethal dose of aripiprazole, quetiapine and lamotrigine? Mix of them.
Avatar m tn It would depend on what your central vision is, and what your macula looked like a year or two ago. I see many "young" people in their 30's that have pigmentary mottling without it ever getting worse.
Avatar f tn I am scared and i feel like i have tried everything i can to get out of this depression but it has not progressed to this and i dont know what there is left for me to do. I need some information or advice from someone. Thankyou.
Avatar f tn Will find out at pharmacy tommorrow..... when I looked the drug up it says it is an anti-pyscotic sp? That does seem to make sense to me... sounds kinda harsh actually.... Has anyone ever taken this for anxiety and panic or even for depression. Man I should have asked more questions when I was there.... but I didn't have an appt so it was a rush job. Would just like to know if anyone has taken this at all? For anything I actually suffer from ie. Depression, anxiety and panic attacks?
644988 tn?1236364548 I have been on Quetiapine for 3 yrs and have had the same problem. It doesn't matter what the temperture is I just break out in a sweat.. I'm still not used to it. I've tried getting my pdoc to take me off of it but he feels that it is working for me. So I just tolerate it.
534105 tn?1226157177 s usually best to see a psychiatrist who seems to understand these meds rather than a regular doc, which is what you seem to be referring to -- I mean, this is basically what Seroquel does unless you get used to it over time -- the manufacturer tried to use this to make lemonade out of lemons by marketing it as a sleep remedy until it got sued and fined by the FDA for doing that. It sedates most people.
Avatar n tn When I do not take Quetiapine thee is no chance that I will sleep, is there any natural remedies that will help me sleep?
Avatar f tn Have to be honest I was only on that for a while because it was activating and kept me up at night. I also had a problem with heart palpatations (I believe everyone has to get an EEG first as I did) so I had to discontinue it and change back to a previous medication with my psychiatrist's superivision. But some people have done well on it so it depends. It is often activating though so if you have that problem you could ask your psychiatrist if you could take it in the morning.

Avatar f tn Next question: you said klonopin made you sleep well, were you taking them for sleep at night or through the day for anxiety? Benzos make a long-term bad choice for sleep, as they do exactly what you're encountering if used for that purpose.
Avatar n tn Around 13, I was diagnosed ith 'Cyclothymia' which was changed to Bipolar II at 15. I've been put in in-patient care twice (for a total of 12 months), Intensive care once, and hospitalized countless times, all for suicide attempts, strange behaviour and self-harm. I was put on quetiapine, which sort of helped, it toned things down a little and helped me sleep, but didn't do much.
535882 tn?1396576685 what does synthriod do? other than regulate your energy. what other functions does it help control in the body. or feelings, in the body. want to know, starting on it soon after total tyroid removal. 6 days after now. thanks for all info.
Avatar f tn as all the lucky sleepers do. Why are you on the meds? What precipitated the condition? Have a good think about what may have gone wrong in your life to cause the distress?Hope you can get qualified help with your problem.
Avatar f tn I take 100mg at night for sleep and the side effects arnt that severe. I've noticed a bit of weight gain and they make me VERY tired but that's about it.
