Quetiapine side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Quetiapine side effects

seroquel

Avatar n tn Hi, You mentioned about possible side effects when taking the prescription drugs. Side effects are a constant issue when dealing with any type of prescription. My wife had an issue sleeping and was interested not in a prescription type of sleep aid, but in something that would have no side effects. She was thrilled with the results of Fast2Sleep. Here is a link, you can look at which tells about different user's experience with this: http://potenthealthsupplements.com/blog/?
1052851 tn?1307741160 made it an add on and kept me on the Quetiapine as well. I had very bad side effects, and got off the Zeldox immediately. I told my doctor about it, and she changed the Zeldox, which was 80mg daily to Abilify, which I take 10mg in the morning and 10mg at noon. Will this add on assist with the weight gain? How does Abilify affect the Quetiapine? I would like to drop the noon (100mg) Quetiapine at noon as it tends to make me too tired all day.
Avatar m tn I was taking depokote with this but like you we found that it stopped working I just started getting horrendous side effects. I took quetiapine for my mixed state episodes and to try to help my anxiety.( rather than a benzo..) This also worked for a while but then after taking this combination for around 5 years I had to stop depokote and quetiapine as they were no longer helping me infact the side effects were becoming a real issue aswell.
Avatar f tn I take 100mg at night for sleep and the side effects arnt that severe. I've noticed a bit of weight gain and they make me VERY tired but that's about it.
1246883 tn?1285547973 I immediately started to gain weight. And stopped the Seroquel immediately (mid Dec). I know this is one of the side effects. I gained about 5lbs. Being 5'9" and weighing 135, I felt the 5 extra pounds would come off with eating better and a few more yoga classes . But the weight kept coming. I got down to a dietary intake of about 1000 cals. But that mad no difference.
Avatar f tn I tried Geodeon recently, and could only tolerate the side effects for a month, then I changed back to Quetiapine. I changed over to Geodeon for the same reason that you did, in one month I gained 30 pounds!
Avatar n tn When you are in bed, keep your eyes closed, focus your attention on the third eye(in between the two eyebrows) and do anulom vilom pranayam(alternate nostril breathing). As the left and right brain get extra oxygen, the mind will relax and you will begin to feel drowsy. Try to do anulom vilom in the morning as well.
1052851 tn?1307741160 I had to be weaned off the Quetiapine, and I am still going through some of the side effects of changing meds. the most being difficulty sleeping, which is frustrating, but I can assure anyone who is considering changing over, that yes, in my case I lost 4lbs in one week. It has now been almost 4 wks and I am returning to the size I was. My husband has noticed that I am more hyper than when on the Quentiapine, but I chalk that down to the left over Quentiapine still leaving my body.
2010625 tn?1329372056 I have tried several different antipsychotics and keep getting bad side effects with them that have been so bad I can't take them. I have been on seroquel, risperdal, geodon, abilify, and currently on latuda. On the latuda if I take more than 40mgs I get akathisia real bad, but on the 40mgs I start rapid cycling. My doc said I could try saphris, but I am sick of trying these antipsychotics. He said then the next option would be to try lithium. I am currently on lamictal 200mgs, latuda 40mgs.
Avatar f tn i did just a read on side effects of Lamotrigine b/c my son recently started this med....and YES it can cause sore throats ....says to seek immediate medical attention. at least contact your dr asap....there can be some very life threatening s/e's from this med....good luck!!!
Avatar f tn Seroquil is a great mood stabilizer anti depressant and anti anxiety med. When I first started taking it I struggled a bit but it didn't last long. You may or may not have to try a different med, I would give it time as the therapeutic effects outweigh the side effects. If it doesn't get better soon (1-2 weeks) talk to your dr about perhaps switching meds. There a lot of sleep meds and mood stabilizers out there and I hope you find what works for you.
301640 tn?1302652334 Sorry no one has answered your question; I'm not familiar with quetiapine, but did a quick search for it. Weight gain is one of the side effects, so you really should talk to your doctor to make sure you don't do anything contrary to proper medical protocal. Beyond that, I would advise eating a good balanced diet, of proper proportions, along with moderate exercise............those are the main ingredients to weight loss........ Best of luck......
913187 tn?1243015081 1, Becoming very drowsy and disorientated soon after I took it 2.The dreaded weight gain, Iput on 2 stone while taking it. Pdoc said it wouldn't have that much effect but it certainly did with me.
644988 tn?1236364548 discussed MS at last appointment but on balance decided not to as already suffering fairly bad side effects!! :-s As for childhood trauma; yes one isolated but very traumatic event and a slightly dysfunctional family upbringing but I guess that's not unusual. My therapist is a doctor of psychology and pretty experienced. The quetiapine clearly doesn't prevent the episodes and as I have insight of sorts throughout I figured they couldn't be psychotic in nature.
Avatar f tn All currently available anti-psychotics have the ability to cause diabetes and tardive dyskinesia (except for Clozaril which has its own set of severe side effects) and are always used for schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders and have mood stabilization effects. There are other medications for anxiety disorders and panic attacks.
1069968 tn?1264204107 It sounds like you are having bad side effects from the citalopram. I would suggest that you contact your Dr. asap, and get off that med., from what you have written, it sounds like you dont need something to make you more hyper, you need just the opposite. I am taking Quetiapine, which slows me down, and stops my mind from racing, and actually didnt effect my appetite, however you will experience weight gain. I strongly suggest that you contact your Dr.
Avatar f tn Sorry the beginning got cut off It said I am on medication I don’t feel I need anymore and the negative side effects outweigh any benefits. I no longer have panic attacks but I am on 50 mg of quetiapine at night...
534105 tn?1226157177 We often feel great upon quitting a med because it has been making our brains work in an artificial manner and there are side effects we might not notice especially if the improvement in our mental state is good. When we quit, there's that time of clarity that comes with a properly functioning brain, but if you suffer withdrawal, it will overwhelm that small window of clarity. If your original symptoms come back, that will also overwhelm that moment of clarity.
1687493 tn?1305600366 Unfortunately there seems to be very little you can do to remedy the situation. It's the price to be paid for taking the meds. you need to cope well with life! So far I've not found anything that is effective in countering the unwanted side effects. Should you discover a 'cure' be sure to let me know.
3248163 tn?1354847640 You can also try calling the the makers of Abilify. Many drug companies will help you if you call them. Also everyone's body reacts to drugs differently and I have tried many. I take Lithium and I don't have any side effects. Have been on it 4 yrs. I did have side effects at the beginning that took 2-3 weeks to go away but they did and it has been fine for me ever since. Try the websites above too. Also some Mental Health Clinics will dispense certain meds, they may have Abilify.
Avatar m tn Do you think that you have a low sex drive? If not, your ED could be caused by side effects of your current medications. Of course, do not stop taking any prescribed meds, but check with your doctor for any alternatives that would not have the side effects.
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing what now seems to be normal side effects - brain zaps, different emotional states, crying for the first time in years, anger, frustration which is very hard for my husband and children and I just feel like a failure. I don't know if this is co incidence but I also have what feels like flu - aching body, sore throat, no energy. I am unable to join in normal daily activity with the family and this is making me feel more isolated.
739988 tn?1386672969 I know the meds we all take have many side effects. I was wondering if any of the meds cause severe acne problems. I am in my 30s and still have acne problems. Please help.
Avatar f tn Hi! I'm just trying to do some research for my friend ... She's been on Quetiapine (an atypical antipsychotic) for about 2yrs, but previous to this she was diagnosed with borderline hypothyroidism. Suddenly, she has fallen really ill and blood tests have confirmed minor hypothyroidism (T3 levels around 9)... but the symptoms look like hyper!
