1052851 tn?1307741160 made it an add on and kept me on the Quetiapine as well. I had very bad side effects, and got off the Zeldox immediately. I told my doctor about it, and she changed the Zeldox, which was 80mg daily to Abilify, which I take 10mg in the morning and 10mg at noon. Will this add on assist with the weight gain? How does Abilify affect the Quetiapine? I would like to drop the noon (100mg) Quetiapine at noon as it tends to make me too tired all day.
1246883 tn?1285547973 I immediately started to gain weight. And stopped the Seroquel immediately (mid Dec). I know this is one of the side effects. I gained about 5lbs. Being 5'9" and weighing 135, I felt the 5 extra pounds would come off with eating better and a few more yoga classes . But the weight kept coming. I got down to a dietary intake of about 1000 cals. But that mad no difference.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Seroquel (quetiapine) for about four months and I haven't had but a few breakthroughs of mania or depression in a few months. Plus the added benefit of knocking me clean out when I go to bed. The only thing that I don't like about it and this is something to look at if you start experiencing this, is it gives me very vivid nightmare.
Avatar m tn I was taking depokote with this but like you we found that it stopped working I just started getting horrendous side effects. I took quetiapine for my mixed state episodes and to try to help my anxiety.( rather than a benzo..) This also worked for a while but then after taking this combination for around 5 years I had to stop depokote and quetiapine as they were no longer helping me infact the side effects were becoming a real issue aswell.
534105 tn?1226157177 I am now struggling with anxiety and mild insomnia mainly due to withdrawal. Dr. wants me to take 25mg of Seroquel (quetiapine) per day. Do you think this is a good decision? I do not want to be addicted or dependent on any psych drug, and I have heard that quetiapine also is a drug that causes addiction and withdrawal symptoms..
Avatar m tn My most recent drug combinations are (1) 30mg Remeron/Mirtazapine, (2) 150mg Quetiapine/Seroquel, (3) 500mg Epilim/ Sodium Valporate everyday and (4) 10mg prozac every other day. This seems to work well, but I wonder what the long term consequences will be. Could you enlighten me?
534105 tn?1226157177 I was taking 25mg of quetiapine (Seroquel) at night for one month. My doctor told me to stop taking it without reductions because of severe fatigue and somnolence during the day. I am not sure if I am going to have withdrawal problems. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn Doing so can cause major withdrawals and horrible side effects. I have a link that tells you all about seroquel. I do not reccomend you read it, as it will only scare you off it. I did not even look closely at the page. But I will leave it up to you. Blessings - Blu http://www.rxlist.com/seroquel-side-effects-drug-center.
605458 tn?1539228808 I used to take regular Seroquel with no sexual side effects. I was recently changed to Seroquel XR and the side effects are so different than regular Seroquel, and one of them is sexual side effects. Anyone else? The other new med I am on is Amitiza, which is for Irritable Bowel Syndrome and didn't have sexual side effects listed. I have been under a lot of new stress lately, but that has never caused this problem in the past.
Avatar f tn My Doctor just switch my medication from 150 mg of Effexor XR to 400 mg of Seroquel XR. I dropped my dosage of Effexor gradually but I still experienced terrible withdrawl. Now I am experiencing bad side effects, " I'm guessing ths", from the Seroquel. I have gained weight in my stomach area very rapidly, I have pain and stiffness in my legs, 24 hour dry mouth and sinuses and I feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat.
Avatar f tn If the side effects listed freak you out, look up all the side effects for a medicine you take on a regular basis, like tylenol or ibuprofen, to give you some perspective. And some side effects go away after a few weeks. TL;DR--if you have BP II or depression is your worst enemy, try the Lamictal first.
Avatar n tn Hi, You mentioned about possible side effects when taking the prescription drugs. Side effects are a constant issue when dealing with any type of prescription. My wife had an issue sleeping and was interested not in a prescription type of sleep aid, but in something that would have no side effects. She was thrilled with the results of Fast2Sleep. Here is a link, you can look at which tells about different user's experience with this: http://potenthealthsupplements.com/blog/?
Avatar f tn All currently available anti-psychotics have the ability to cause diabetes and tardive dyskinesia (except for Clozaril which has its own set of severe side effects) and are always used for schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders and have mood stabilization effects. There are other medications for anxiety disorders and panic attacks.
2010625 tn?1329372056 I have tried several different antipsychotics and keep getting bad side effects with them that have been so bad I can't take them. I have been on seroquel, risperdal, geodon, abilify, and currently on latuda. On the latuda if I take more than 40mgs I get akathisia real bad, but on the 40mgs I start rapid cycling. My doc said I could try saphris, but I am sick of trying these antipsychotics. He said then the next option would be to try lithium. I am currently on lamictal 200mgs, latuda 40mgs.
1255936 tn?1296623461 Hello Everyone! Anyone have positive effects on Seroquel for GAD? I know it's an anti-psychotic for Schizophrenia and BP1 & 2. I have read everything I can find on this drug. I have been given 25mg a night for GAD that has developed over the last 5 months. I have a history of severe depressive episodes and have been on Effexor for yrs (300mg/day). The depression has been held back relatively well but the GAD and some symptoms of depression are creeping in.
644988 tn?1236364548 I also do not recommend Seroquel XR, there have been some nasty side effects with that, but I know that only from what others have posted. I can take ativan if needed, but prefer to take an extra 25mgs of Seroquel (pdoc approved some flexiblity) , because it's not sedating and longer acting. Having a good MS on board can help with the anxiety, I"m on both Lamactil and Lithium, both for depression, and work very well.
Avatar f tn Everyone reacts to medication differently. A medication that might work for me might be disastrous for you. You might have started at too high of a dose or increased your dose too fast, you might be on too high of a dose for your body or it might just simply be the wrong medication for you. I would inform your doctor of these side effects right away if you haven't done so already.
Avatar m tn I have what my eye doctor called pigment mottling and may be an indication of future macular degeneration. Is there any evidence of Seroquel (Quetiapine) causing macular degeneration or any retinal problems? I do know there is evidence of it causing cataracts.
Avatar f tn I have been on seroquel (quetiapine) 100 mg at night for a couple years. I also take Eskalith (Lithium Carbonate ER). My Lithium level was .8 (normal) a month ago. With the change to daylight savings time, the last three nights I woke up around 4:30 am wired (which is better than sleeping til 3 pm ( which I often did on the days I didn't work.) I usually went to sleep around 12:30. I had been taking Nuvigil for energy (no stimulants). Lately I've been working 10 hour days too.
