I did speak to my Dr about the weight gain and the side effects and she suggested I take 300mg of Quetiapine at night along with the Zeldox and Clonazapam to sleep, but it really didnt seem to work. I also wonder whether taking both Quetiapine and Zeldox together is a good idea?

I was taking 25mg of quetiapine (Seroquel) at night for one month. My doctor told me to stop taking it without reductions because of severe fatigue and somnolence during the day. I am not sure if I am going to have withdrawal problems. Any suggestions?

I am not familiar with Quetiapine meds but if they are a spin off of lithium carbonate your friend would suffer a hypothyroid situation. With a hypothyroid inbalance and a psychotic meds her symptoms would be pretty much what you are describing. I suppose getting a complete panel (you only list a T3) which provides some info but not the whole picture TSH testing and those numbers would be very beneficial to determine her condition.

I haven't heard of it being used a lot without a mood stabilizer, but it is always best to go with the least amount of drugs possible to control the mood swings.

Update. Hi. My dissociative moments have receded and I've ha a week or so of being in agood mood and really productive; more so than for over a year. I increased my bedtime dose of quetiapine but found I was feeling "wired" with irritability and anger in the afternoons/evenings. My sleeps are short (five to six hours at the moment despite the increased quetiapine). In view of this, I've re-added a morning dose of quetiapine and now things seem better..

I tried taking Zeldox, as I gained a lot of weight from the Quetiapine, but the Dr. made it an add on and kept me on the Quetiapine as well. I had very bad side effects, and got off the Zeldox immediately. I told my doctor about it, and she changed the Zeldox, which was 80mg daily to Abilify, which I take 10mg in the morning and 10mg at noon. Will this add on assist with the weight gain? How does Abilify affect the Quetiapine?

It's probably best if you call your doctor or pharmacist, grapefruit can increase the effects of some medications; but I don't know it the same is true for anit-biotics.

I wonder why you are writing the generic names of drugs. I know quetiapine the generic of seroquel appeared lately this year as Astra zeneca doesn't possess the patent anymore but the brand lamictal still exists for lamotrigine. Sometimes the brand name is more potent but usually the generics are cheaper i suppose.

as for my own, i was unstable for 7 years - from beginning of disease onset - and the last 3 years almost stable on seroquel, i go to work at least and behave like human beings with bouts of rage but minimal than before give it a try
