Quetiapine off label use

Common Questions and Answers about Quetiapine off label use

seroquel

Avatar n tn Did your doctor prescribe it to you for this? If not, STOP right now...'experimenting' with prescription medications, which are extremely addictive can NEVER have good outcomes.
1052851 tn?1307741160 htm Right now I have improved (as regards standard mood stabilization) with Lovaza which is in off label use for bipolar. There are an increasing number of FDA approved medications used off label as mood stabilizers but each person responds differently to each medication but its worthwhile to be aware of all available options and discuss this with your psychiatrist.
Avatar f tn It is perfectly legal for a physician, once a med has been approved by the FDA, to use it for off-label purposes. What isn't legal is for the manufacturer to talk the physician into using it for off-label purposes. So this med might be the best thing for you, and it might be completely inappropriate depending on where the professional got the info from. So you're right to question things, but as I said, that doesn't mean this isn't a good med for you.
Avatar m tn I'm in the Uk and currently taking Quetiapine, Depakote and Lamotrigine. The Quetiapine for me was prescribed for rage and agitation, I don't feel any anti depressant properties from it, but it has saved my life. Lamotrigine was prescribed 7 weeks ago and I feel a lot better, I am doing things that I didn't think I'd ever feel I could do again. Nobody has ever specified what type of Bp I have, I have symptoms from across the spectrum, I have mixed episodes.
644988 tn?1236364548 They got worse recently when I slowly weaned myself off valium. (I think the increase in quetiapine has probably replaced and is more effective than the valium) The p.nurse has spoken of BP, the p.doc feels that further labels may not be helpful at the moment and sees it all as major depression problem; more concerned by symptom manangement than labels which is fine with me.
1052851 tn?1307741160 My GP switched me over to Zeldox, as I was gaining weight rapidly on Quetiapine, however the side effects from Zeldox, such as not being able to sleep, vomitting, feeling like my throat was closing, shakes, dizziness, severe heart palpatations, I got off the Zeldox and went back on the Quetiapine. What is the ingrediant in Zeldox that would cause these hyper side effects?
1052851 tn?1307741160 I am currently on 200mg Quetiapine and 30mg Cipralex in the morning. 100mg Quetiapine at noon, and 300mg Quetiapine at night, along with 50mg Clonazapam. I tried taking Zeldox, as I gained a lot of weight from the Quetiapine, but the Dr. made it an add on and kept me on the Quetiapine as well. I had very bad side effects, and got off the Zeldox immediately. I told my doctor about it, and she changed the Zeldox, which was 80mg daily to Abilify, which I take 10mg in the morning and 10mg at noon.
Avatar f tn I am not familiar with Quetiapine meds but if they are a spin off of lithium carbonate your friend would suffer a hypothyroid situation. With a hypothyroid inbalance and a psychotic meds her symptoms would be pretty much what you are describing. I suppose getting a complete panel (you only list a T3) which provides some info but not the whole picture TSH testing and those numbers would be very beneficial to determine her condition.
100019 tn?1335919717 For genotype 1 patients who cannot take interferon, the panel recommends sofosbuvir plus the HCV protease inhibitor simeprevir (Olysio), with or without ribavirin, again for 12 weeks. This off-label regimen has not been through full Phase 3 testing, but performed very well in the Phase 2 COSMOS trial.
Avatar f tn They all have reported feeling better daily - this off label approach is a God Send! Now I will finish out the 12 weeks - they will do the viral load test again at that time and then 12 weeks post treatment test again to declare me officially SVR!!! NO HORRIBLE INTERFERON OR RIBAVARIN THIS TIME FOR ME!!
1635208 tn?1300807160 Hi welcome to the Hepatitis C community Olysio per the prescribing information sheet is intended to be used with interferon and Ribavirin. The same applies to Sovaldi. Per prescription they are not used together. However there have been clinical trials using them together "off label" and they have been shown to be highly effective when used together. You can web search for Cosmos clinical trial cohort 1 and cohort 2 to see study results.
Avatar m tn I am using Pegasys 180mug q/wk as an off label use to treat Polycythemia Vera and it works well.I will have to take this med the rest of my life. I am aware of the short term side effects, but what about long term side effects? What can I expect years from now?
1113735 tn?1273174430 I believe the trials in the US involve mostly G1. Members of this form have experimented with it off-label (not for the prescribed purposes) with mixed results. It may improve the efficacy of interferon. don't know about liver stages or alt, ast. personally if i were to start treatment tomorrow i would add it.
Avatar f tn I have never been off of it yet but that sounds about right. It has so many qualities to it like anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, mood stabilization, and sleep aid, it is most likely necessary to go into treatment. Anyway just wanted to give you a reply, have no real knowledge about it and I hope they never decide to take me off of it. Whether they told me it was necessary to go to treatment or not I would admit myself.
Avatar f tn s like my whole body and mind are in extreme discomfort, like a feeling of being completely overwhelmed and needing to do something, anything has taken over me. I take Quetiapine at night because it helps me sleep, but now I just cannot switch off and it's often 3am before I manage to nod off.
644988 tn?1236364548 Citalopram 40mgs (3yrs), Quetiapine 50-100mgs (2.5 yrs), Reboxetine 12mgs (18months), Lamotrigine 150mgs (6months) and Lithium 400 at night (one week...so unlikely to be relevant). Anyone got any useful thoughts??
996769 tn?1249681013 here's an example of a label that says do not use if you have --- thyroid disease Caution: Do not use BreastSuccess if you are pregnant, nursing, or have any of the following conditions: high blood pressure, heart disease, thyroid disease, glaucoma, diabetes, difficulty urinating due to prostate enlargement, or if you are now taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (certain drugs for depression, psychiatric or emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease), or for two (2
1148241 tn?1294052796 t as hard on the liver as tylenol (acetomenaphen or paracetamol), but still be careful to take no more than what the label says, and tell your doctor you're taking it. If it works, your doctor may direct you to take more than what's on the label, but again, follow instructions, dosage and timing carefully. Stay away from the "extra strength" formulas.
