1052851 tn?1307741160 I am searching for something where the weight gain is minimal but offers the benefits I get from Quetiapine, but I am now nervous to try anything that may have this mystery ingrediant in it that Zeldox has. Can you tell me what is in Zeldox that is not in Quetiapine, and if there are any other meds I could try that wouldnt cause these side effects but also not make me gain such a massive amount of weight?
Avatar f tn Hi! I'm just trying to do some research for my friend ... She's been on Quetiapine (an atypical antipsychotic) for about 2yrs, but previous to this she was diagnosed with borderline hypothyroidism. Suddenly, she has fallen really ill and blood tests have confirmed minor hypothyroidism (T3 levels around 9)... but the symptoms look like hyper!
1052851 tn?1307741160 Now I am back on Quetiapine and searching for another med. that does not make you so hyperactive as the Zeldox did or a med. that doesnt make you tired and gain weight as the Quetiapine does. I know there are a lot of new meds. coming out, does anyone have any suggestions as to an alternative med. that provides the benefits of Quetiapine without the massive weight gain?
Avatar f tn Hey I am on them I take 100 mg at nite for my sleeping...
644988 tn?1236364548 I have been on Quetiapine for 3 yrs and have had the same problem. It doesn't matter what the temperture is I just break out in a sweat.. I'm still not used to it. I've tried getting my pdoc to take me off of it but he feels that it is working for me. So I just tolerate it.
Avatar n tn My 79 year old father sustained a TBI when he was knocked out for about 20 minutes. He is on Namenda and Plavix, is it possible that Adderall could help with his short term memory loss. Before the accident he lived on his own.
Avatar f tn I had been on klonopil and celextra for 4 years, after a bad pannic attack, every time i wanted to came off the pills the symptoms where back, so my gp kept prescribing it, i was for about 2 years on a dose of 2.0 then lowered to 1.50 the last 18 months, i begun to notice that i was loosing my short memory, so i decided to stop it lowering again the dose to a 1.0, it made me slepp so well, the problems begun when i was taking 0.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Lamotrigine, Prazosin, and Quetiapine. I have also been diagnosed with H. Pylori, I was wondering if I could take Prevacid with these other medications? I have tried everything else and this would be a last resort.
Avatar n tn I had dementia symptoms with B12 malabsorption. In my case due to autoimmune pernicious anaemia. I had severe B12 deficiency. It took a month for my memory to start improving after weekly B12 injections. I switched to 2000 mcg daily of sublingual (under the tongue) B12 spray which I find superior personally. I have permanent nerve damage. *** Excerpt from Livestrong - Be Aware of Alcohol's Effects on B-12 Absorption..
Avatar f tn What is the lethal dose of aripiprazole, quetiapine and lamotrigine? Mix of them.
Avatar m tn I have known many people with this illness. For some it is best to be in a care place where they will not get hurt, for others the siblings decided to care for the parents at home. I hated watching a woman friend to my Mom who was placed in a home and just was in bed till she died, maybe that was best- but it was hard to watch. I don't know if there is any connection, but I read once about Gluten and Memory loss. You might read up on that and just see... I really don't know.
1255936 tn?1296623461 What is the dose for treatment of such disorders and not just a low dose for sleeping? I hear 25mg is really not high enough to be effective for GAD or anything else other than a sleeping aid (why anyone would take a anti-psych for a sleep aid is beyond me). I hear that 200-300 mg is the dose for treating GAD, BP, and depression. I will be seeing my doc tomorrow to discuss increasing the dosage. Any input from anyone on the "front lines" would be awesome! Cheers!
Avatar n tn ve been put in in-patient care twice (for a total of 12 months), Intensive care once, and hospitalized countless times, all for suicide attempts, strange behaviour and self-harm. I was put on quetiapine, which sort of helped, it toned things down a little and helped me sleep, but didn't do much. I discharged myself from the first hospital since I wasn't sectioned, but overdosed on on 42 of my quetiapine three weeks later.
Avatar m tn If anyone in your family has experienced dementia at a young age (before 65), you and other family members may be at increased risk of developing frontal lobe dementia (FTD) – also known as Pick's disease. A new blood test may reveal your specific risk. In 1892, Czechoslovakian neurologist Arnold Pick first documented a type of dementia in which degeneration of cells occurs in the cerebral cortex (the outer layer of the brain) where cognitive and behavioral functions are controlled.
Avatar n tn Is there any kind of help for people in the first stages of dementia beside Namenda.? Is there anything in the health food stores that can be taken.? And does vitamin B1 help.?

Avatar m tn t know the name of the drug but I believe there are new drugs for dementia. My husbands friends mother is on something that is new and she is doing better... I would discuss this again with the doctor and even if nothing else, maybe a mild tranquliser for the daytime would help..The ativan is good for situational anxiety but maybe your mother needs something a little stronger to quiet the chatter in her mind.
Avatar f tn Agree with Iladvo, It is tempting to write down behaviour for older people as dementia. It could be anything really and the facts given here are that he has seen a doc who has given advice. Follow that advice, if possible. If he won't follow the doc's advice there isn't much you can do without getting very personal and create enormous problems. Can you go to the doc with him and ask for clarity and get a referral.? Maybe?
