1618236 tn?1408072214 I have written to you earlier on my Borderline Personality disorder and you wrote back but am not following you on what you said : One formulation of borderline personality disorder is that it involves a deficit in the "self soothing" function - the ability to make oneself feel OK/safe. Hence the symptoms of heightened sensitivity, anxiety, and irritability.
1450085 tn?1298941702 I know a couple of people that have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and some of them do suffer from anxiety/depression. However I would not self diagnose myself if I were you. If you are not currently seeing a psychatrist I would suggest that you consider seeing one. You need to get to the bottom of what is causing your anxiety and a therapist can help you do that. You can overcome anxiety. Make sure you are eating right, getting enough sleep and exercise.
Avatar f tn Although it is possible to have major depression and borderline personality disorder (as jdtm mentioned). Perhaps you could do a google search of borderline personality disorder and see if you think it is similar to your friend.
Avatar f tn Are you having very low moods along with the very high moods? That could be bi-polar. Has your Dr mentioned anything about borderline personality disorder? I would ask about that. Have you taken questionnaires when you've seen your Dr?

Avatar f tn Hypomania (in the case of co-occurring borderline personality disorder and bipolar II disorder) may precede the emergence of borderline personality disorder in some patients, may surface a number of years later than when borderline personality disorder is first recognized, and in still others may become manifest at about the same time one is first diagnosed with borderline personality disorder." ("American Journal of Physchiatry")...
728480 tn?1312059930 t experience standard psychosis). For a person with borderline personality disorder, however, part of the cause of it is a traumatic childhood experience. And for ptsd, a person would not have acquired it otherwise but the traumatic experiences caused brain changes.

1419416 tn?1283020018 Hi all. I'm new here so I'm not sure if I'm doing this right. (Please correct if needed). I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good websites with information regarding the differences between bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder? I've been diagnosed with bipolar disorder for over ten years, but I read a little bit about borderline and I'm starting to question my diagnosis. Any advise/info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
1756969 tn?1332437163 for bipolar but unfortunately not for borderline, but if you google DSM borderline personality disorder a few sites come up and give you definitions. One of the main differences between the two is moods for Borderline last hours/ maybe a day but for typical bipolar last days to weeks. Good luck.
429432 tn?1343594190 In psychiatry, borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a personality disorder characterised by extreme 'black and white' thinking, mood swings, emotional reasoning, disrupted relationships and difficulty in functioning in a way society accepts as normal. The name comes from the DSM-IV-TR; the ICD-10 in Europe has an equivalent called Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.
944643 tn?1418214422 I was just reading about Borderline Personality Disorder, and this disorder explains me so perfectly...I could be the poster child for it! Now u guys know I haven't gotten a BP dx yet, so I'm not 100% sure I have it, but pretty sure I have type 2 BP, rapid cycling. Is there a possibility I could have BOTH disorders? Or is it more likely I would only have one of them? I'm just wondering ur opinions cuz once I read about the BPD I was shocked!

Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Borderline personality disorder. Well, one doctor says Borderline, another will say Bipolar, they dont know I guess. I just know that nobody will accept me as their patient. I have cutting issues & suicidal thoughts that are strong. I am not in treatment now...mainly because doctors either drop me, hospitalize me involuntarily, or refer me. Florida isn't great for mental health treatment (in my experience). Anyway, I have been told I have delusions.
Avatar f tn There are many different types of personality disorders. My mom has borderline personality disorder. The symptoms that she possesses are: Impulsive and risky behavior , unstable mood, and fear of being alone. Were you recently diagnosed with one?
Avatar f tn About a year ago this diagnosis was changed to Cyclothymia, generalized anxiety disorder and traits of unstable personality disorder. I have been on 200mg Sertraline and 250mg Quetiapine for about 18 months, (and countless other meds before this over the years) but after being stable for about 12 months my Psychiatrist suggested reducing my Sertraline to 150mg. Almost immediately my anxiety got worse, so my gp said to increase it again and we would try again in a few months.
Avatar n tn Borderline personality disorder is not a result of brain injury. It is considered a personality disorder. He would have to have been diagnosed with BPD before getting the concusions to be considered true BPD. You will get more and better information from looking up Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), which is the result of concussions and can look and feel a lot like BPD or bipolar disorder depending on the area of the brain affected. There are medication that help some people.
644988 tn?1236364548 Update. Hi. My dissociative moments have receded and I've ha a week or so of being in agood mood and really productive; more so than for over a year. I increased my bedtime dose of quetiapine but found I was feeling "wired" with irritability and anger in the afternoons/evenings. My sleeps are short (five to six hours at the moment despite the increased quetiapine). In view of this, I've re-added a morning dose of quetiapine and now things seem better..
Avatar f tn Hi! I'm just trying to do some research for my friend ... She's been on Quetiapine (an atypical antipsychotic) for about 2yrs, but previous to this she was diagnosed with borderline hypothyroidism. Suddenly, she has fallen really ill and blood tests have confirmed minor hypothyroidism (T3 levels around 9)... but the symptoms look like hyper!
