Avatar f tn s got 2 docs (the GP treating the thyroid, and the mental health team prescribing the Quetiapine), but they don't seem to be communicating at all. Does anyone have any ideas? The symptoms just don't seem to make sense, and she's getting really scared. Thanks a lot!
644988 tn?1236364548 5 yrs), Reboxetine 12mgs (18months), Lamotrigine 150mgs (6months) and Lithium 400 at night (one week...so unlikely to be relevant). Anyone got any useful thoughts??
Avatar m tn I'm in the Uk and currently taking Quetiapine, Depakote and Lamotrigine. The Quetiapine for me was prescribed for rage and agitation, I don't feel any anti depressant properties from it, but it has saved my life. Lamotrigine was prescribed 7 weeks ago and I feel a lot better, I am doing things that I didn't think I'd ever feel I could do again. Nobody has ever specified what type of Bp I have, I have symptoms from across the spectrum, I have mixed episodes.
644988 tn?1236364548 Update. Hi. My dissociative moments have receded and I've ha a week or so of being in agood mood and really productive; more so than for over a year. I increased my bedtime dose of quetiapine but found I was feeling "wired" with irritability and anger in the afternoons/evenings. My sleeps are short (five to six hours at the moment despite the increased quetiapine). In view of this, I've re-added a morning dose of quetiapine and now things seem better..
925572 tn?1246540031 He just did not want to stop treliptal and reduce lithium at the same time,,,,but i insisted and he gave in and he will see me in a month. it is just this sleeping issue that is driving me crazy. for example i drank two chamomile mugs and took passel honey to help me sleep ............i dropped asleep at 10 pm and woke up now at 12:30 am seeming soooooooooooo active but in just 1/2 an hour i will be like a zombie and i even wont be able to sleep.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering what the best drug to take is on an as and when basis. I take lithium too. Sometimes even on antipsychotics and lithium I get breakthrough symptoms. What I want is to be able to just take something when I need it; alongside the lithium of course. Any suggestions? I know antipsychotics build up over a period of time so it is probably not useful to take these prn.
644988 tn?1236364548 doc feels that a mood stabiliser is needed and talked about either Lamictal or Lithium... I was scared by the sound of Lithium so went for Lamictal but now I read how many weeks it'll take to build up to a useful dose and I'm not sure I can wait that long.... any thoughts?
2010625 tn?1329372056 tried lithium only one pill but i had to stop for some reasons. But I know people who take lithium and very much convinced about it. Pdocs all over the world nowadays try to revert to lithium again. Although you read about the side effects of lithium but those using it say it's safe if well monitored. I remember to have corresponded lately with a famous USA pdoc about some bipolar theory (another story) he said we are going back to lithium.
Avatar f tn I have been on 200mg Sertraline and 250mg Quetiapine for about 18 months, (and countless other meds before this over the years) but after being stable for about 12 months my Psychiatrist suggested reducing my Sertraline to 150mg. Almost immediately my anxiety got worse, so my gp said to increase it again and we would try again in a few months. A couple of times over the last few months I have had the strangest feelings, like nothing I've had before - and I feel like this at the minute.
Avatar m tn i never heard of advair or minoxidil, it seems meds to treat other things than psych also the others seem strange. since you seem to suffer from other symptoms, my modest advise is to seek a hospital support, a GP is of no help here. you went toxic on lithium, meaning you didn't monitor the dose. so either you don't have time to check or change the meds without doc consent. suppose i tell you quetiapine helps me in my rapid cycling, would you try it.
13506861 tn?1430253425 Yes--when I change doses or lithium, quetiapine, or lamictal I get the same thing. It did go away after a few extremely frustrating weeks. Tell your pdoc, but mainly keep and eye on it. Did you change dosage?
3248163 tn?1354847640 You can also try calling the the makers of Abilify. Many drug companies will help you if you call them. Also everyone's body reacts to drugs differently and I have tried many. I take Lithium and I don't have any side effects. Have been on it 4 yrs. I did have side effects at the beginning that took 2-3 weeks to go away but they did and it has been fine for me ever since. Try the websites above too. Also some Mental Health Clinics will dispense certain meds, they may have Abilify.
1052851 tn?1307741160 I did speak to my Dr about the weight gain and the side effects and she suggested I take 300mg of Quetiapine at night along with the Zeldox and Clonazapam to sleep, but it really didnt seem to work. I also wonder whether taking both Quetiapine and Zeldox together is a good idea?
Avatar f tn I have bipolar and our baby was planned before starting to conceive I was on topomax lambic talk and lithium... Both Drs advised to come off topomax asap they both said I needed to stay on the lithium because if I came off of it I could have a relapse which would put to much stress on the baby they said their is a very low percentage of a heart defect so I need monthly ultrasounds to monitor the babies heart and at 20 weeks will have a fetal echocardiogram done.
1670721 tn?1306337284 Hi Linda, welcome and post away! I find this site really helps me, have you seen the mood tracker? Its a great tool for tracking symptoms and I'm going to print it off and show my pdoc and nurse. Its also a nice feeling to help others on here too. I'm glad you are feeling stable on your meds, even though they have been increased, and you are feeling a bit blah at least your episodes are under control.. I am taking 400mg quetiapine too, and 1000mg depakote so our meds are similar.
Avatar f tn Has any one reduced and successfully stopped taking quetiapine? were there any horrible withdrawal symptoms or return of symptoms? I am feeling scared I must say.
1748829 tn?1338037041 You need mood stabilizer meds to prevent depression caused as a side affect of interferon. Meds in combination such as Lithium, Depakote and various antidepressants are commonly used to treat bipolar illness that is why they in combination are called mood stabilizers. They prevent mood swings. Both manic and depressive.

Avatar f tn I am currently taking Lamotrigine, Prazosin, and Quetiapine. I have also been diagnosed with H. Pylori, I was wondering if I could take Prevacid with these other medications? I have tried everything else and this would be a last resort.
Avatar n tn Will I lose the weight I have put on whilst on citalopram and quetiapine once I stop taking these medicines?
Avatar f tn It would be interesting to find out how many people are on more than one medication for their mental health. I am currently on 3 medications, Depakote and Lithium for my BP and Zopiclone to aid sleep. I realise this is a very basic poll as it does not show how many different types of mental health problems are being experienced but depending on the response this could lead to a further poll about diagnosis etc.
1052851 tn?1307741160 I am currently on 200mg Quetiapine and 30mg Cipralex in the morning. 100mg Quetiapine at noon, and 300mg Quetiapine at night, along with 50mg Clonazapam. I tried taking Zeldox, as I gained a lot of weight from the Quetiapine, but the Dr. made it an add on and kept me on the Quetiapine as well. I had very bad side effects, and got off the Zeldox immediately. I told my doctor about it, and she changed the Zeldox, which was 80mg daily to Abilify, which I take 10mg in the morning and 10mg at noon.
Avatar f tn 50 every other day for about 4 months, my panic got so far worse than before, so i wen to see a neurologist, he put me straight away on valdoxan and quetiapine 25mg, took only valdoxan for 2 weeks i had'nt been able to have a good night sleep, my doc said to take half a quetiapine at bed time but also gave me zolpidem, my ansiety is great that none of these make sleep well, my question is: are this the withdrawal symptoms of the clonopil and how long will i have to put up with them?
1172209 tn?1263427216 I've been on lithium for several years. At first I gained weight but after I got used to it my body just levelled off. If I was worried about anything it was the depression that was making me gain weight not only from eating but also not moving around much. If lithium gives you a few extra pounds it might be an ok thing if you get your life back. You have to watch your salt intake. Sure too much is bad but having the levels fluctuate isn't so good either.
