A stress test or a non stress test? Because they are different a non stress test is just a monitor that they put on you to measure the babies movements. A stress test actually induced contractions and is used to see how baby reacts, like if there is movement or if there is a drop in heart rate.

I've had a non-stress test done during my pregnancy. It's really easy and a bit boring. You go in, they hook you up to this machine and monitor baby movements and their heartbeat after.

Anyone know?

I have mine today. I was told that the ultrasound is to check fluid levels to make sure he still has enough. The non stress test was something I had to look up. They are going to measure the babies heartbeat while sleeping and while moving to see if they are different and also check to see if you are having contractions and how they are effecting the baby's heart rate. If they are causing your baby's heart rate to drop, they could induce you sooner.

Do you think he would agree to have counselling? Do you think it would benefit your relationship? You don't need extra stress, especially during pregnancy. I hope you and he can find a solution that will work for not only you two but your children too.

At my last Dr's appointment I was scheduled for weekly stress test until it's time for me to give birth (Due date: June 2nd) I was told that if my son doesn't move at least 8 times in an hour that I should go to the hospital immediately.. My son moves about 8 to 10 times an hour but doesn't there movements decrease as we get near our due date? I just don't understand the purpose of the stress test.

Thanks ladies. When the doctor was telling us about the test she left out the movement part only saying the heartbeat, which sent him into a tailspin of planning to take off every appt. I appreciate the insight.

I was going through alot at that time in my pregnancy and I asked my doctor about stress and the affect on the baby, he told me at that stage there should be no affect on baby but even having said that its not good for u. Just try and put ur mind on the things that make u happy and if u need to talk im just a message away.

sometime during pregnancy, the baby puts alot of stress on our organs such as liver and kidneys, because we are also getting rid of the babies waste as well. If you don't drink enough your kidneys/liver can't expel the waste. Also I was under the impression you were itchy all over.

non stress test is when they lay you on an exam table and strap on fetal monitures to the belly to moniture the baby's activity. i started mine at around 24 weeks. it usually took me 10-20 minutes but my 2 were super active and they got all the information they needed in that time. the tech told me some women were there for as long as 2-3 hours. so it all depends on your little bun and how active s/he is. if you have a good tech it's not so bad.

Everything tends to get a bit sluggish during pregnancy, but staying hydrated and drinking lots of water helps. Also eating extra fiber (whether it be the leafy green vegetables or fiber bars, etc). Also, fruits and fruit juices might get things rolling. Keep active too!

Stress test or non-stress test? During a NST they just hook you up to a monitor to keep track of baby's movements and heart rate. During a stress test they actually stimulate contractions and monitor baby's response to those contractions.

and one other thing if there was something wrong with my heart would it have shown during the stress test?

Has anyone had Group B strep during their pregnancy???? I'm 36 weeks and extremely afraid. I'm having a scheduled csection will it harm baby????
