Avatar f tn I have an 12yo black lab that all of her behaviors changed when she lost her life long companion and became depressed. We had to put our other lab to sleep because she had major health problems and suffered a major stroke with no good out come. Our lab went through the depression and seemed to rebound to her old playful self in a years time.

250155 tn?1485295939 hi i need some help in getting info about helping our new dog to loose weight. we already have a 9 month old female yellow lab and now have taken in a 7 year old male yellow lab from dh's boss who is moving and can't take him w/ her. our puppy is very active and at a completely healthy weight... and this dog is not! we are pretty much inexperienced dog owners and don't know where to start here...
522359 tn?1213966491 Hi, and welcome to the forum! Introducing a new dog to the pack doesn't always go as well as we imagine it will. Ideally, both dogs should be on a leash so you can correct any aggressive behavior. Before they even get to have an up-close-and-personal butt-sniffing session, they should be walked together with one dog on either side of you. They aren't allowed to so much as look at one another, so walk briskly so they're attention is on walking.
Avatar n tn I just got my 8 week old black lab puppy from foster care. He was just at the vet 2 weeks ago and is up to date with his shots. I am a new dog owner. He has what I think is tape worm segments coming out of his stool. He is going back to the vet in 2 weeks, should I make an appointment sooner, or will he be ok?
Avatar f tn I often wake up multiple times in the night. I have Lab puppy and a Miniature Pinscher that wriggle and play in the bed :) My DH also gets up an hour or so before me. I always temp when my alarm goes off, no matter what happened during the night. Although my temps can vary, I always see the definite luteal shift after O, so I don't stress about it. If you have a wonky temp or two, you can always "throw them out".
Avatar m tn my two months old lab is a very playful one. weight almost about 2.75 kg. in absence of every body she was chewing a piece of wood when ever she got time for the last two days. from today morning she is vomiting and small pieces of wood are coming out of her stomach. yesterday she had 6 times poty. semisolid greenish in colour. normal food habit is chicken rice and ready made puppy food available in arket.
Avatar f tn an Old Chart does nothing for you. The TSH is revised and is now ranged at .3-3.0.
Avatar f tn I resently changed doctors and I have the lab results that say my TSH is LOW at 0.318, and my T4 is normal at 1.71, my TPO is HIGH at 81, and my Triiodothyronine is normal at 3.0. Does anyone know what all of this means? My new doctor spent 5 minutes with me because he had not yet received medical history records. Please tell me the good, bad and ugly. Can I do anything to bring my TSH up, or my TPO lower (by diet, exercise, etc)?
Avatar f tn My 9 year old Black Lab, Scooter, has not slept at night a few times in his life, but it's always been a full moon. I am home with him all day and we spend a bit of time out back (3/4th's acre) just exploring or he'll play with the puppy. He is fine during the day. If his hips seem to be bothering him, I give him Tramadol but that's not very often.
Avatar f tn The last couple days with my 10 week old labrador retriever puppy have not been good. When we first got her at 6 weeks she was extremely thirsty all the time. That has slowed down until now. Since yesterday she was been drinking so much water and now right after she is peeing almost uncontrollably.. not even squatting some of the times and also sometimes when I dont let her have too much water she tries to pee but only piddles a little bit.
Avatar m tn my lab is 4 months 10 days old. i use to feed him 8am-drools (puppy-chkn) 100 gms, 1 pm-rice and chkn( 125gm), 6 pm-2chappati with some doogy sauce or milk, 10pm- same as 1 pm. it was all fine a week before, suddenly he choose to eat less and lesser. waited for 3 days but nothing improved. before she used to finish her bowl with in minutes but now she is not interested in foods. took her to vet, he told to keep the food just 2 times a day, and provided with 4 supplements.
Avatar m tn And what should i do to get back to normal and start gaining weight. I tried every means to put on some weight like gym, supplements etc. And yes i do eat a lot than my other chubby friends. Please help me with this and if possible tell me any food chart to follow to gain weight as fast as possible.
Avatar f tn Anybody got a new puppy while pregnant? Was it hard to take care of? How is it around the baby...if you've had yours already lol....just wondering because we're moving soon and I wanted to get a very small one.....! Thanks ladies...
Avatar n tn Is there a type of food that i should switch her to? Maybe a puppy food so she can gain more weight back? Also she has never handled wet food very well, would it be a good idea to mix in a small amount of wet food into her dry food?
Avatar n tn I have an 11 month old puppy, half lab/german short hair. We enrolled her in puppy classes last winter and it was the best money ever spent. It was more for us than her!! She responds to positive reinforcement and we dont lay a hand on her. Having a puppy chase you brings out the biting as that is their nature. Also playing tug of war brings out aggression with them and they think they are the boss. Make the commands short and to the point as they dont understand sentences.
1545371 tn?1330798707 Sterling (the former stray) -- terrified. Runs away immediately, puppy in hot pursuit. Puppy LOVES this. Crackerjack (a real sweetie) -- Has just now, in late February, decided to experiment with not running away. Hisses and stands his ground, but then runs away. Puppy disappointed he is no longer as terrified. Basmati (a total pudding, 8 years old, sweetest cat I've ever known, weighs about 12 lbs.

Avatar f tn Our 10 -12 week old puppy is chasing our 106 lb (old) black lab a few times a day and nips at his 'ankles' or the hair that hangs in the arm pit area. Scooter doesn't like it at all, but he's a great dog and just will run down the stairs (Daisy the pup can't do 'down' stairs yet). I've never had a puppy and an old dog at the same time and don't know how to stop the behavior. I'm clapping my hands and saying 'Daisy! No!'.
Avatar n tn I hope someone can help me with my puppy. She is about 9-10weeks old, lab mix, and has already had her first round of vaccinations when I first got her about 3 weeks ago. When I brought her in the first time, I told the vet that she had diarrhea and she explained to me that it could be new food, stress, etc. So, I waited about 3 days, and she still had the diarrhea, but was eating just fine.
