Avatar f tn Well many kibble blends include animal protein, not trying to make your situation more difficult. Sorry for a couple of typos in my earlier reply, if you have a question about anything I posted earlier let me know and I'll try to make it correct/clearer. Hydration is very important, using a syringe to get water down the dog's throat may help. Also there may be some "wet" or canned dog foods available to you that have acceptable contents.
Avatar f tn I then usually add some of the boxed baby rice cereal to make a gruel. Have a good quality puppy kibble and put that in a blender, skip the cereal and add the finely ground kibble to the goat's milk or just add warm water. As the teeth come in, molars, you don't have to grind the kibble so finely.
Avatar f tn The shaking may be what is called "Hypoglycemia" which is low blood sugar from not eating....Your puppy may not can handle it's kibble...Is the kibble too large or small enough for a tiny mouth? You might try to soak (In water) a little kibble....Make a mush and see if she can eat it this way....She needs some food......This will buy you some time till she can see a Vet.....
Avatar m tn I have briefly came across a few conversations from a good few years ago about dogs mouths being pink around the nose, eyes and mouth...I have only just recently noticed this on my white border staff puppy Max. He doesn't seem bothered by it...I was just a little concerned as a new furry mum would be, especially since he is in the middle of teething. He eats puppy pedigree chum sachets and dry kibble out of a ceramic bowl which is cleaned daily...
Avatar f tn This exact same thing happened to my GSD puppy he stopped eating for a bit then he stopped drinking water. He also lost weight and wanted to sleep most of the time. Turns out he had parvo, a deadly virus if left untreated. The thing that saved him was when he wasn't eating we gave him water with electrolytes. There's no "cure" but what the doctors do is help them with the symptoms. Maybe you should get him checked for that, I hope I helped.
Avatar f tn My puppy had a very sensitive stomach when we got her at 7.5 weeks. It's best to feed them whatever their prior owner fed them . . . had this pup been started on solid food by the way? We had a terrible upstart with food with my young pup---- She was fine the first couple of days but then diarrhea started.
Avatar f tn s and metabolisms they are you feeding the puppy a very high fat diet. Puppy kibble should be very fatty you want them eating all the time and the high fat foods even if they get a little pudgy it's all good because at about 10 months old you switch them to the adolescent formula and they lose all the baby weight. Either way you should see a vet shots are very important and the puppy should be fixed soon. Let us know how he is.
1608004 tn?1390770990 my cat Maggie is a hog! I love her to death so I am not sure what to do. two years ago she was pregnant (males cats came in my house when i wasnt home and impregnated my girls) and when she tried to have her babies she only had 3 and then her uterus fell out and she had to have cesarian. They neutered her by removing her uterus and her tubes and every since then she has been on an eating fest. even when she only got 1/4 of meal a day she stayed fat!!!
Avatar f tn Sometimes a sudden change in diet can upset some dogs. If he is still not eating tomorrow, I would highly recommend that you speak with your veterinarian. Make sure your puppy has been checked for intestinal parasites (such as roundworms and hookworms). If he is at all weak or lethargic, he needs to be checked ASAP. Some people also overestimate how much food a puppy needs to eat so try to quantify how much he eats at each meal.
Avatar f tn s dog the other day for 12 hours while they were away. He was a good dog, not spoilt at all. They left some kibble for me to give him (very good quality by Burns) a glucosamine dog-treat, and four tiny gravy-bones as treats) He ate the gravy bones, he ate the glucosamine treat....so there was nothing wrong with his appetite. And there can't have been anything wrong with his teeth either as he was fine with the biscuits. But when it came to the kibble, he wouldn't eat!
Avatar m tn I was in Pet Supplies Plus the other day, and I had a bag of Science Diet in my hand. A guy who works there asked if he could help me. I told him I was looking for something to switch my dog to instead of the Nutri Source the store sent home with me. He said "I wouldn't get that (meaning the Science Diet) and recommended Orijen, which had no wheat, corn or other grains that he said aren't good for dogs anyway.
Avatar m tn They are still puppies and should be on a puppy food. I would buy a good quality puppy kibble. Maybe try boiling up some chicken, cut it in small pieces and add it to the kibble with a little water and see if they will eat that. Even try a little canned dog food and see if they will eat that. Puppies usually eat Eukanuba pretty well. They can't go forever without eating and I've never seen a healthy dog yet that will starve itself.
Avatar f tn My puppy is almost a year old. Short story about him. Our family adopted him (Scamp) from the Humane Society when he was 8 weeks. He was in a litter of 4. 2 died of parvo, he & his brother where the lucky surviors. When he was ready we took Scamp home. He had a horrible cough. Took him to the vet, vet said he had "true" kennel cough, to make a long story short, he was on antibiotics for 2 months and horse morphine for his cough. Finally got rid of it.
Avatar f tn It could be from the chicken. I would still try the kibble route and maybe add some canned pumpkin (not the pie filling), maybe a Tlbs each meal. Not sure where you got her but could still be a parasite issue. Has she had a Vet check since you got her? Is she done with her complete series of shots? If not, she should have a well puppy check up and take a fresh stool sample in with you for analysis. Not sure if she was really wormed, with what or how many times.
Avatar m tn I have a two month old pit bull he is not eating or drinking when I force him to he vomits he is losing his equilibrium he is just very sick I can't get him in the vet till Monday just wanted to know if anyone would know what the prob is and what I might be able to do he has had his parvo vaccination
Avatar f tn I have no way of knowing the exact cause but would ask what type of food you are feeding and what do you mean by "puppy milk"? Dogs should not be given milk. He should only need plain water to drink and available at all times. What are you giving for snacks? I see you are not in the USA so I am not familiar with what dog foods you have available. He should be eating a good quality Small breed kibble, preferably with no corn. The first ingredient listed is the main ingredient.
Avatar m tn I think it fine for me to post what I now feed my dog, it isn't a general endorsement or advertisement, just what works, for now, here. In brief summary, our Westie is far more "discriminating" about what he eats than any other dog I have had association with. He also tires of any dog kibble I've given him in a week or two.
Avatar m tn Hi All, I have 2 german shphered puppies (3 months old now), I bought them a month ago, and I have noticed since day one that the male puppy is not eating well & extremely skinny!!! Now, the problem has increased more, since the male puppy is: 1. very skinny (weigh only 3.5 kg) while his sister puppy weight 8 kg!!! & his size is 1/2 the size of his sister! 2. He's not eating well, and total loss of appitite 3. He's not energetic 4.
634745 tn?1256844310 I would slowly eliminate the wet food, replacing it with the high quality puppy kibble. If she is reluctant to eat dry food as some puppies can be, soak the kibble in hot, hot water for a while until it becomes "mushable" and then mush it up with a fork for her. To make it more appealing you can add a dash (maybe 2 or 3 tablespoons) of evaporated milk just to make it creamier and more appealing for her.
Avatar m tn They breeder thinks it is due to an environment change but with her track record with us, not sure. we can not afford to take the puppy to the vet at this time is there something we can do at home?
