Avatar f tn How do you store the milk you pump? Im not pumping a lot but I'd still like to store what I get so that I can use it later. I'm exclusively breast feeding for now.
Avatar f tn But im passed due and was wondering if I could start pumping to store some breast milk in advance in case I want to have a drink with my husband or something after the baby is born? Im obviously not planning in getting drunk or anything but if I can pump now im hoping it will also kick start some laboring lol im passed due by a few days.
15278049 tn?1441989239 I just found it easier to breast feed straight from the breast pumping took too long and it hurt a little.
470885 tn?1326329037 I'm a working mom, so I need to pump, DH stays at home with our son (and future child). I agree it's nice to have some milk on hand if you need it. From what I read it's not THAT big of a deal, it's most important in the early weeks as that milk is more fatty. If you pump to store for when you need it that won't cause any issues with breastfeeding.
689528 tn?1364135841 that will make me produce that much more milk right? So will I have to keep pumping often just to keep up or can I just pump when I think I'll need it later on in the week or something?
8146913 tn?1396730598 2. You just have to monitor your baby to see how much he eats. But only store milk in 2-4 oz bags, so u dnt waste a bunch of milk. 3. My WIC counselor lady told me to not use a binky or a bottle for the first 6 weeks. And use the same position to bottle feed as you would breastfeed. And don't you actually bottle feed. Have someone else bottle feed and you just breastfeed.
561093 tn?1237429410 I am afraid I am running out of milk. Has this ever happened to anyone else before? Is there anything I should do to get more milk in?
Avatar f tn When you pump you pump into the bottles attached to the pump and pour the colostrum/milk into storage bags or whatever you chose to store your milk in.
Avatar f tn I want to bottle feed my breast milk. This is my first baby due February 14th, and I have no idea how soon I can pump and store my milk and info or websites or books anyone knows of would help me a lot !! Has anyone done this??
Avatar f tn re supposed to use hot compresses in the shower to let some milk out, but by pumping your only telling your body to produce more. I made that mistake with my son as well, and my engorgement got SO bad!!! I would definitely try the nipple shield, and getting more areola in her mouth. Good luck mama!
6710217 tn?1386110892 yes, make sure you keep to whatever pumping/breastfeeding schedule you set because i got a breast infection from a blocked milk duct simply because i went to a dr appointment during my pumping time!!!!! i had to switch to formula because of how painful it was and it ended up being numerous ducts that were blocked so i was able to get much out. good luck just remember to keep to a strict schedule!
Avatar f tn I breast fed my daughter and I always had extra to put in the fridge. I just had to pump at the time she usually had to feed and I kept producing alot of milk.
3054705 tn?1348415479 If u freeze you milk in milk bags I believe its good for a year. To unfreeze your milk heat up a cup of water not to hot! And place the bag in the cup to unfreeze. I lovedfreezing my milk because u can store it away for along time. And take it on the go .
Avatar f tn Put her to the breast more often. What makes you think you aren't making enough?
422823 tn?1229736847 Never combine the cold milk with warm breast milk, so each time you will have to store one bottle (or the breast milk bags are good too)....once the milk is cold you can combine them. Whoa...off track, sorry! After I put the milk away I would wash the plastic nipple attachments and the other bottle. I used hot soapy water, then just set out to dry. At the end of the day you can steam everything. The tubing I would steam once a week, as no milk ever gets into that part.
Avatar f tn OK, so I'm pregnant with my second child, last time I decided not to breast feed, but this time around I want my baby to get my milk . My question is, is it possible to just pump and bottle feed my little one? And if so how long does stored breast milk usually last ? I won't be able to commit to breast feeding as I will have to return to work and won't be able to be there all the time to feed little one.
408901 tn?1274687198 When i went back to work i could not keep up with the pumping at work or even pumping at home to store milk, so i made the choice to breastfeed when i get off work until its time to go back to work and she gets formula while im at work. She will be 4 months friday and im thinking to switch her to strictly formula around 5 or 6 months.
229857 tn?1319029907 I know how to do formula just from taking care of my little brothers but I never had to deal with breast milk and I heard that you have to store it differently. Any advice would be great. Thanks ladies!!!
Avatar f tn The colostrum is super important in those first days of life and in my country the midwives tell you its OK to try and express some to store just in case anything happens that way you have some saved up. Pumping can kick start labour and since you're not quite full term I'd keep an eye on if it gives you contractions.
Avatar f tn but is it too early to start pumping at 4 months
Avatar f tn I breastfed but wasn't able to pump, my daughter feed to often and I never had enough to then pump after, but I was always told by my docs that breast milk can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days (at the back of the fridge, don't keep it in the door) and up to 6 months in the freezer. Always try and defrost breast milk by putting it into the fridge to defrost, not just leaving it on the side.
Avatar f tn I plan on breastfeeding/pumping for 6 months, maybe longer but I was told I could freeze breast milk in certain bottles, my question is how long can breast milk still be good frozen
639543 tn?1297027634 I started feeding Dameon straight from my breast, then DH decided he wanted to be able to feed him too, so I pumped, and he was able to feed him. It turns out the baby has gotten used to ONLY taking a bottle, because it's easier, not to mention my boobs are so full of milk all the time, it flattens my nipples and he has no nipple to latch onto.
Avatar f tn and tried a double pump and still not enough! Any advice what I can do this time around to produce breast milk? ??
5143780 tn?1370557931 Try maybe for every three hrs to feed. Are you only pumping? Breast milk is a lot lighter on a babies stomach therefore they need to eat more its not heavy like formula.
Avatar f tn Pumping will help keep up your milk supply and prevent your breast from getting engorged or overly full. You can store your milk to give to your baby in a bottle for another feeding. But if parts of your breast pump that contact the milk also touch the sore(s) while pumping, you should throw the milk away.
