Pumping breast milk to induce labor

Common Questions and Answers about Pumping breast milk to induce labor

milk

Avatar f tn Oh and she is only 38 weeks 2 days
Avatar f tn Thats weird because my doctor said nipple stimulation and breast Pumping provokes contractions because your body releases a hormone that causes contractions. I was just breast Pumping the other night and i started to get contractions.
Avatar f tn Also I know you said its not possible but Id still try to feed on the breast whenever you can. Pumping doesnt stimulate the breast the same way. Could cause you to dry up faster. With my first I always pumped and I noticed the bottles getting smaller and smaller. Had to supplement with formula. 2nd I never used the pump unless I had to...could fill a 9oz when I did!
Avatar f tn You don't want to pump to early maybe a day or two before your due date if you pump to early it could send you preterm labor. Sometimes when you go over your due date they'll have you start pumping since nipple stimulation could induce your labor.

Avatar m tn Has anyone tried pumping to induce labor? I'm so close and considering it to jump start things. 2 days until my due date and at the last appointment 1 week ago I was just over 3cm and 50% effaced.

Avatar f tn Mine started that way and then it changed to like a clear fluid discharge...but no some women come in earlier than others.
Avatar f tn My milk has begun to come in and my nipples are so sore. I have had to squeeze the fluid out 3 Times today. I just feel like it's a little early. I'm 22 weeks pregnant with my second child. I did breastfeed the first time so I'm wondering if that could be why. Any input would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn That's why they say to use nipple stimulation to help start labor. So pumping would be like nipple stimulation on crack lol! Your welcome hun!
Avatar f tn I would not recommend pumping before your milk supply comes after the baby is born it could cause you to go into preterm labor. I'm having my second and after my first I never stopped lactating even when I stopped breastfeeding. I still would leak collosum (don't know if that is spelled right) especially when he would cry.
Avatar f tn She gave me these ideas to help (hopefully) start the labor process. She recommended to try the breast pump idea, so I decided to give it a shot. Not even 5 min in, contractions have started :) lets hope they last!
Avatar f tn I am 37 weeks I just pumped my milk to try to induce my labor. Anyone try this and it work? I only did it for 20 minutes. I started to have back pains so I stopped.... it scared me lol.
Avatar n tn Your milk doesn't come in until after you have the baby anyway. And doing it early can cause uterus contractions that can lead to labor. You don't want to over stimulate your uterus either. So just wait.
Avatar f tn I agree with all the above, and you should let your Dr know but its not an emergency. It could send you into early labor, but that's not a definite because if that worked youd see lots of women doing that to induce themselves. But as far as pumping goes, you really don't want too. Like everyone said above, babies need that premilk, colostrum first, its good for them. Then your milk will come in and a couple days and over the first week of so mature.
14975014 tn?1437675913 If you pump before birth then your body is going to make real milk. But you don't want to give your baby that milk from the start. They need the colostrum first. It gives them the antibodies and protein they need plus it's gentle enough for their digestive system. They need that for a few days and when your real milk comes in, your baby is ready for it.
Avatar f tn By pump do you mean pumping breast milk? The first liquid that comes out of the breast is colostrum not milk which is vital in aiding a healthy strong immune system in new borns.
Avatar f tn m watching these ladies on YouTube dancing to ice ice baby to induce labor.
Avatar f tn Thanks that actually made me,feel better, :)
Avatar f tn I'm 39.2 and I just tried pumping and my one breast started to leak out colostrum....is this a sign my baby boy is gonna come soon?
Avatar f tn t come in until after you give birth. Pumping can lead to labor due to nipple stimulation. Not sure about freezing the colostrum :) I would consult with your doctor.
Avatar f tn Ok so I'm 34 weeks pregnant and I just got my breast milk today. I decided to squeeze my breast because it was hurting . and I started leaking . what do I do . I'm a ftm. I'm only 19 and do I pump? Or do I just leave it alone ?
Avatar f tn They dont hurt bc of milk you dont get milk till after baby is born Before that we only have colostrum ba iea first milk. But that is.correct pumping can sometimes help induce labor or any nipple stimulation.
Avatar f tn Don't pump.. unless you want to try to induce labor:) .. which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing in both cases:) anyway our bodies keep producing colostrum right up until birth. Until certain amounts of oxytocin are released during labor.. a newborn only needs about a small thimble full to ill up their whole belly! :) but mothers also breastfeed other children and still have plenty of colostrum for their newborns.
