pumping breast milk ounces per feeding

Hi ladies, my milk came in yesterday, quite a lot I made add and I have been pumping ever since. Brandon is being lazy again and not latching on as much as I'd like to. Do you all think I will eventually dry up if I dont continue to latch him on? I have never breastfeed so I am not to experience on this. My mom keeps telling me I wont I as long as I continue to pump regularly. Everytime I pump I get like 2-3 onces per breast. Is that good enough?

Breastfeeding class is wrong, you should do one breast per feeding. It helps regulate milk production better letting them do one side at a time.

I am planning on breast feeding abd know i wil have to pump when I go back to work . My question is what kind of bottles are best to use with a breast feeding baby. My huband and I are at a lost for this information. Hope that I can actually breast feed. My mom and sister couldnt dont know if that makes a differnce or not.

You're feeding first and STILL pumping an additional 4 ounces after every feeding? I'm barley filling my 2.5 ounce tube when I pump after her feeding, and that's pumping both. Now I'm worried after reading all of your posts. Guess I need to step it up on the water and oatmeal, which I'm already having plenty of every day. it depends my sister pumped straight away n got very painful breasts so she gave up altogther i breast fed on demand untill my baby was 4 weeks then started pumping but it was very tiring do whats bet for you

So my daughter is practically 5 months old now and is starting to take herself off breastmilk. She actually turns away from me when I go to feed her. I started feeding Dameon straight from my breast, then DH decided he wanted to be able to feed him too, so I pumped, and he was able to feed him. It turns out the baby has gotten used to ONLY taking a bottle, because it's easier, not to mention my boobs are so full of milk all the time, it flattens my nipples and he has no nipple to latch onto.

Try pumping when you give birth, if your having a hard time at least then you won't dry out and you can still feed your baby just a little breast milk & still give him formula.

I had the same problem! And to anyone who's babies are spitting up breast milk and not formula- don't give up breast milk completely! My son is doing this also and from what I've read its because breast milk is thinner and easier to spit up than formula. Basically I decided instead of completely throwing in the towel and quitting breast milk altogether, I'm just pumping 3 times a day now and feeding him breast milk 3 times.

My baby sleeps alot so im worried if he isnt getting enough milk. I been pumping milk and he eats about 8- 10 ounces of Milk to calculate how many ounces his getting a day. .do you think thats enough??

i pumped 2 ounces which is what baby eats and on a good day i could pump 4 ounces yet it is pumping both breast and mixing them together. but my son has seemed fine :) i should pump more often but im lazy :p.. i will work on that.

Alcohol is metabolized out of the blood (and breast milk) at a rate of about.25 ounces per hour. So as long as you have only one drink and wait 3-4 hours to breastfeed, there is no need to pump and dump.

Gina.....I was totally for breast feeding when I was pregnant....and it was so hard for her to get the hang of it while we were in the hospital.....she did finally get it..but favored one side....and I never knew what she was getting and if I was producing enough for her.... Once we got home..its like she lost the concept of latching and gave up...

Jake is now 9lbs and takes 3 to 4 ozs per feeding (7-8 times per day). I am now pumping about 4 bottles per day, breast feeding twice and supplementing with 1 or 2 bottles of formula at night. He is an "inefficient" feeder so he was taking almost an hour to breast feed but was fast with the bottle which is what led me to continue pumping and bottle feeding - and the pain of breast feeding OMG.

If you only breastfeed once a day you have a higher chance of losing milk production all together.. Your bony makes as much milk as baby drinks breast feeding is how you keep milk production up.. So stay hydrated and breastfeed as much as you can..
