Ive had to switch to formula and mixing in the breast milk to be able to feed him enough.. Now that he is doing better, Im wanting to go back to beast feeding but Im having trouble.. It was already difficult in the beginning as he was fighting to latch on or when he did he would fall asleep.. Now Im not producing much milk n he is having the same latching problems.
Avatar f tn t want to give up I really want him to be best fed even though they are mixing my milk with the formula in the nicu
Avatar f tn I been breast feeding for about a month now and love to stop breast feeding the only problem is my daughter doesn't the formula she only enjoys drinking my breast milk... How can I get her to drink the formula? And what can I do to stop the milk from coming or will it just stop coming on it's own? Ftm going crazy here any advice feedbacks comments please feel free to post and thanks in advance.
3185867 tn?1348434443 If you go to the bottle now and change your mind it may be even harder to get him to take it from your breast, which also goes for mixing bottle and breast. It is easier and better to stick to one or the other. If you stick at it it will get easier for you both but it is normal for it to take a little time.
Avatar n tn When did you start mixing cereal in your baby's milk? For those that started soon. What was your experience like? Did your baby adjust to it good? My son is 3weeks, and at the doctors office yesterday, his doctor said its ok to mix cereal because one, he eats alot, and secondly possibility of reflux.
Avatar f tn With my first child I did breast feeding for a year, but when I tried transitioning her from breast to bottle, it was A PAIN! She refused to take the bottle, so now I want to try to do both.. I bought a breast pump, so I'm wondering how does the whole freezing your milk process work? How long is it good for? How do you unfreeze it? Or boil it? Thank you for your time!
Avatar f tn Pumping doesn't stimulate milk production like natural breastfeeding does. Try hand stimylating with pumping every hour, using warm rags around your breast to make the let down reflex easier, and eating certain foods and even some teas can help the body produce milk.
Avatar f tn I would not recommend pumping before your milk supply comes after the baby is born it could cause you to go into preterm labor. I'm having my second and after my first I never stopped lactating even when I stopped breastfeeding. I still would leak collosum (don't know if that is spelled right) especially when he would cry.
14975014 tn?1437675913 They need that for a few days and when your real milk comes in, your baby is ready for it. You have to remember that your milk is made exactly for the baby, pumping before hand messes all that up and isn't good for either of you.
Avatar f tn When do breast milk starts coming out the breast I had my baby on the 29th no milk still
Avatar f tn ll breastfeed exclusively until I go back to work and than I pump so the baby can still get the benefits of the breast milk. WAY cheaper than having to buy formula. Especially now that you can get a free pump from your insurance due to the changes in insurance laws from obama care (or whatever the politically correct name is). Plus I read you might be able to take off cost of nursing supplies on taxes (you have to spend a certain amount on them). Can't do any of that with formula.
Avatar f tn I was having a hard time so we switched to bottle feeding breast milk and then switched to formula. I just do whatever is right for me and my baby. Luckily the most important part of breastfeeding is the early days before your milk comes in.
8526246 tn?1405601876 How long after pumping is breast milk good for without refrigerating or do I have to refrigerate right away? I want to pump and feed without having to refrigerate and thaw but not sure if its not ok to do so.
Avatar f tn Try mixing the formula with breast milk and slowly increase the milk and lower the amount of formula. You don't have to wean if you don't want to. It will just take time.
Avatar n tn I had my baby 5 days ago and im pumping and i only get a half an ounce each breast if that.. Will my breast supply increase??. I want to produce more milk what do i do?
7845638 tn?1395841467 That sounds great mommikat breastfeeding at night would work for me I read on this blog that milk does come in at the wee hours pumping seems like it's going to be a lot of work but I'm determined to make sure I don't have to resort to formula
Avatar f tn You can give formula while pumping to breast feed but like others said it will be hard to keep up milk supply. Make sure to get the right pump, my first wouldnt latch so I had to pump but I lost my milk by 8 weeks and had to supplement with formula the whole time. Turns out I didnt have the right type of pump and didnt do it enough. I thought I would have problems having a baby breastfeed but my son did and I actually found pumping more awkward.
3588173 tn?1357317184 Alright looks like I will be setting a couple alarms during the night to pump.
7058746 tn?1393435420 I had my baby last week 31weeks 5 days and started pumping and I get alot of milk and I just freeze take it to.
1149221 tn?1304827966 Is anyone else pumping and really getting tired of it? After the hospital made him have a bottle he would never take the breast so I have to pump. I am really getting tired of it. I just feel guilty if he has to have formula all the time (he gets it 2-3 times a day) plus pumping is free. I just find it so hard to take 30 minutes every 3 hours to pump. By the time I'm done both my boys are upset and I have to calm them both down. I just don't know what to do.
Avatar f tn im pumping out my milk but its colostrum. i wanted to know when wikl my milk come in.
Avatar f tn A big decision new moms must make for their little one’s nutrition is breast vs. formula. Which choice is right for you?
Avatar f tn I have been pumping and storing breast milk for my princess and it seams like the amount is slowing down what can I do to get it back up I do not want to give her formula at all!
324372 tn?1222820202 Hey girls! I need some support/advice here about breastfeeding, as I'm having trouble with it and feeling super guilty! My main problem is that I'm not producing enough milk, so I had to start supplementing with formula. Once the baby got the bottle, he absolutely refused to latch onto the breast, so I've been exclusively pumping and bottle feeding with some formula mixed in.
