453798 tn?1262633421 My milk never came in and Alec is 8 days old. I finally gave up because he was getting frustrated and it broke my heart. Has anyone else had problems? It is kind of a letdown for me.
Avatar f tn I have been pumping and storing breast milk for my princess and it seams like the amount is slowing down what can I do to get it back up I do not want to give her formula at all!
Avatar f tn Did anyone have any problems with these milk going away an if so what were the signs? I'm so afraid my is slowly going away an idk what to do!!! My breasts are slowly getting softer and when I squeeze milk doesn't come out or is just a little bit an she seems to be nursing a little more often!!!!!
4437866 tn?1388119624 Breast massage and/or breast compressions before and during pumping can be very helpful in increasing milk output during a pumping session. Try different sized flanges or inserts (such as the Medela Soft-Fit®, Ameda Flexishield Areola Stimulator®, or Avent® petal massager insert) or rearrange the flanges after five to six minutes to help stimulate different parts of the breast and areola, which may result in more let-down reflexes, thereby increasing milk output.
Avatar f tn Usually pumping after nursing will help empty the breast. If you find that you are not pumping anything after nursing you can try pumping before nursing. Babies are much more efficient at emptying the breast than a pump so this may work better for some moms. 10. If your supply is low or baby is not gaining weight see a lactation consultant for help. 11. Make sure baby is latching on well. Try more than one technique to get your baby latched on. 12. Get support from breastfeeding moms. 13.
Avatar f tn Sometimes my baby will only eat from one breast and I will try and pump the other side and still just a little bit comes out and I pump for about 10-15mins.....What am I doing wrong? I am taking fenugreek for my milk supply, and my baby boy nurses really well, every 2 hours......and I use the Medela pump in style double pump......How do I get that extra supply?
Avatar n tn Is it possible to feed baby solely on breast milk through expressing and not nursing? I'm just thinking if I don't manage to establish a proper nursing routine, is it possible to bottle feed with my milk? Or is this unrealistic? Any personal experiences or advice? Thanks!

Avatar f tn I'm in the middle of mastitis right now. It felt like it developed within a few hours, fever, chills, my whole body hurt. My left breast was so tight and swollen that I could only pump a few drops out, just enough to cover the bottom of the bottle (before the infection I was pumping about 1 and a half ounces from that side) and I was sobbing every 3 hours trying to pump because it hurt so bad. And usually sobbing in between pumping too, especially when the milk would let down.
Avatar f tn I just had my baby last Friday. The first 3 days were just colostrum (spelling?) and it came when the baby began to nurse. My milk came in 3 days after, it just sort of shows up without warning lol.
Avatar f tn Fennel or basil essential oil around the breast, not on the nipple.
Avatar f tn Do i have to take something so my milk drys up?...or...do i just stop pumping and the milk just goes away n stops comming in???
Avatar f tn I plan on also pumping and nursing and assume I will have enough milk based on what I had last time. I will go back to work when they are 3-4 months old. I am thinking of buying a Medela "pump in style advanced" or Medela "freestyle". What did you ladies do? Did you have enough milk for your twins? When did you return to work? Did you pump milk? If so, what Pump did you get?
Avatar f tn I have the medela breast pump. And it works great ! Ive been breastfeeding And pumping enough for my daughter like 4 bottles a day. She drinks 4oz , I recommend that !
Avatar f tn I lost most of my milk because I was not pumping as often as I should have and now I have almost no milk, is it possible to get my milk supply back up????
Avatar n tn Galactocele or a milk cyst (clogged milk duct) is usually associated with childbirth, in both breast feeding and non-breast feeding mothers. It is a benign condition and self limiting. No medical intervention is usually required. Just maintain a clean hygiene to prevent any super added infection. Frequent breast feeding, different positions to help drain the milk from the breasts are recommended. You could try breast massage, milking the breast, warm compresses and wear lose clothes.
Avatar f tn s worth it and your babies health will benefit even 50 years into future due to breastmilk. Pump more try nursing more and there are some herbal mothers milk teas to promote milk supply. You can do it!
362119 tn?1223137936 It is because babies have a special way they suck milk out of you that the pump cannot imitate wich is why u cant get as much as u would like out
741877 tn?1265950200 i started pumping breast milk when hanna was 4 days old....
5143780 tn?1370557931 I'm nursing on demand and pumping in between feedings to store for when I go back to work, so I've been ebfing and still pumping an additional 10+oz a day. I've been waking up around 5am with one side rock hard. I have a really fast/forceful let down, mainly one the same side that gets fuller faster, that has been giving us trouble if I let her nurse from that side at night.
Avatar f tn ) With my last pregnancy i started out pumping and nursing, then went to formula and nursing... then she weened herself at 5.5 months and i strickly formula fed... this round i really do want to nurse longer... hoping to make it to around the 9 month mark and see from there.. but seriously formula is expensive! the kind i used was about $25-30 a weeks... and we had to go to the city all the time to stock up... really adds up! considering breast milk is free!
8585833 tn?1399748005 My baby was born at 33wks and spent 10days in NICU. So I pumped every 3hrs to make sure he had milk at the hospital when I was released. I was getting at least 5oz from each breast. Now he's home, I'm nursing exclusively, and pumping between feedings when needed, but now I'm only getting about 2oz per breast. Any suggestions on how to my supply back up our why it even dropped like that.
Avatar f tn I read online pumping in the morning is best because thats when you produce the most milk. I want to have breast milk ready so I can have help with feeding when she is home since im planning to start work and school almost right after birth.
Avatar n tn Also, make sure you are relaxing when you are nursing and pumping. Generally, a women gets more milk out when actually nursing as opposed to pumping, so she may be getting more from you when she is nursing. There is a natural tea sold at health food stores, it's called mothers milk I believe, I have heard that it works wonders.
Avatar n tn If we are pumping breast milk how many ounces should she have per feeding? How long should we let her nurse on sore nipples and still get enough to eat? Our doctor told us to give two ounces of formula. she weighs 7.5 pounds. 8 days old.
