milk

2032629 tn?1329618488 hey, have you tried skin to skin breast feeding instead of pumping for a little bit. by pumping you are encouraging more milk and at a rate that the baby doesn't control itself. i think i would defer this question to the breast feeding forum here. they are full of information and great tips. perhaps one of the ladies there will be more helpful.
453798 tn?1262633421 My milk never came in and Alec is 8 days old. I finally gave up because he was getting frustrated and it broke my heart. Has anyone else had problems? It is kind of a letdown for me.
Avatar f tn Did anyone have any problems with these milk going away an if so what were the signs? I'm so afraid my is slowly going away an idk what to do!!! My breasts are slowly getting softer and when I squeeze milk doesn't come out or is just a little bit an she seems to be nursing a little more often!!!!!
Avatar f tn I have been pumping and storing breast milk for my princess and it seams like the amount is slowing down what can I do to get it back up I do not want to give her formula at all!
Avatar f tn So I was planning on breast feeding but I have NO BREAST MILK has this happened to any one else .
Avatar f tn Hello ladies...my daughter is 3 days old and i am breastfeeding...so far its not going to well :/...she's not eating a lot yet and my breast are producing so much milk that I even have to pump.....she is having a hard time latching and I gave in once and gave her a bottle....my breast are so hard and so sore I'm in tears! I was wondering would it be ok to just pump in the nights and bottle feed her and breast during the day?
Avatar n tn I thought the pain and swelling would go away after I stopped nursing/pumping. Six weeks after I stopped nursing and pumping, I was still having pain. I went to the doctor's thinking I might have that kind of breast cancer that doesn't get a lump. I had an ultrasound and nothing was found. The pain did eventually subside, but my size has stayed uneven=(. It is two years later and we have started trying for another baby, the other day my left breast had the same sort of pain again.
Avatar f tn Fennel or basil essential oil around the breast, not on the nipple.
Avatar f tn Idk if its just the breast pump I purchased that ***** or if im not producing enough milk.. I bought an evenflo electric pump from Wal-Mart it was only $60 so I didnt expect it to be amazing but at least get the job done. My baby usually drinks about 3 oz of milk when I pump and I can barely get that from one breast.
Avatar n tn Is it possible to feed baby solely on breast milk through expressing and not nursing? I'm just thinking if I don't manage to establish a proper nursing routine, is it possible to bottle feed with my milk? Or is this unrealistic? Any personal experiences or advice? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Do i have to take something so my milk drys up?...or...do i just stop pumping and the milk just goes away n stops comming in???
362119 tn?1223137936 It is because babies have a special way they suck milk out of you that the pump cannot imitate wich is why u cant get as much as u would like out
741877 tn?1265950200 this is also another reason why I thought my milk supply is dwindling... I did notice that after a nice warm shower my right breast is leaking milk.. I guess this is a good sign that there's still some milk there??
Avatar f tn Drink a lot of milk products to get the milk flowing. Your breast milk comes depending on amt your baby drinks. It might be too early to pump and freeze. I say wait a mth. If not use the oz u pump to feed your newborn n skip a feeding n pump so u can have more milk supply to freeze.
7385294 tn?1412105739 Well what you might be pumping is the "pre-milk" which I can't think of the name for it right now. And the baby really only drinks that until your milk supply comes in, hours/days after birth. I don't think your actual breast milk will come from pumping? So I don't know if there's an actual point to it (you might have to Google that) Nipple stimulation has been known to bring in contractions, and causing labor in the long run. Just do whatever you want to do.
Avatar f tn I was able to store milk every day by pumping after each feeding to feed my son three and a half months after we stopped nursing. I plan on bf this time as well. And i plan on trying a new product called Milkies. It is supossed to catch the milk from the unused side while nursing instead of letting it seep into a pad and tossing it. Good luck! And like everyone has said, once you and the baby get the hang of it, it is a piece of cake.
Avatar f tn They make nursing pads with sticky tabs on the back to help stay in place. Also, try pumping after a feeding and freezing your milk.
Avatar n tn If we are pumping breast milk how many ounces should she have per feeding? How long should we let her nurse on sore nipples and still get enough to eat? Our doctor told us to give two ounces of formula. she weighs 7.5 pounds. 8 days old.
689528 tn?1364135841 d just get yourself into a routine of pumping a little each day after a certain feeding, maybe after a light feeding, if you have one. I started pumping just a bit at first then more when my DD started on solid food so my milk stayed the same. Then when or if you go back to work, you can pump during the day and BF at night. It also might be a good idea to start pumping and giving him a bottle of it once in a while so he gets used to that too so you can be away from him when you need to later on.
Avatar f tn I plan on also pumping and nursing and assume I will have enough milk based on what I had last time. I will go back to work when they are 3-4 months old. I am thinking of buying a Medela "pump in style advanced" or Medela "freestyle". What did you ladies do? Did you have enough milk for your twins? When did you return to work? Did you pump milk? If so, what Pump did you get?
4437866 tn?1388119624  The key to maintaining or increasing your milk supply is to NOT go longer than five to six hours without nursing or pumping. Milk left in your breasts tells them to make LESS milk.  It can be a challenge to keep your supply up, especially in the military, where you might work an odd schedule and certainly can’t just take a day off to stay home and breastfeed in order to boost your supply.
561093 tn?1237429410 In order to increase your supply try pumping more often and leave the pump on for a minute or two after your breast is emptied. This will tell your body that it needs to produce more milk. I hope this helps!
Avatar f tn I lost most of my milk because I was not pumping as often as I should have and now I have almost no milk, is it possible to get my milk supply back up????
Avatar f tn I got oatmeal and couldn't find any tea for milk and I'm pumping more, hopefully I make more soon
285896 tn?1237211227 Are you pumping after every feeding? That should help. If you are still engorged then maybe pumping is only increasing your supply...Lay off the pumping and when baby isn't nursing wear a very tight supportive bra. I know they have relief packs you can buy to help with the pain. Have you talked with a lactation specialist?
Avatar m tn Hi ladies, my milk came in yesterday, quite a lot I made add and I have been pumping ever since. Brandon is being lazy again and not latching on as much as I'd like to. Do you all think I will eventually dry up if I dont continue to latch him on? I have never breastfeed so I am not to experience on this. My mom keeps telling me I wont I as long as I continue to pump regularly. Everytime I pump I get like 2-3 onces per breast. Is that good enough?
